The quilt is made using forty Left locks and forty Right locks (eighty total blocks). The chart below shows the size and number of pieces in each block. 4 Making the locks Step : Sew together one usty Peach piece and Pink lamingo piece. Repeat to create a total of eighty units. Step 2: Refer to ig. to align one White background piece with the top of an unit. (Note that piece, the Pink lamingo fabric, is on the left.) Mark a diagonal line from corner to corner of Piece and sew along the marked line to make a diagonal seam. Trim away excess fabric, leaving a /4 seam allowance, and press the seam open. This is an Unit for a Left lock and should measure 4-/2 x 8-/2 ig. Repeat to create a total of eight Units for Left locks each using White pieces, Snow pieces, ggshell pieces, Pepper pieces, and Ice rappe pieces. Step 3: Refer to ig. 2 to align one White background piece with the top of an unit. (Note that piece, the Pink lamingo fabric, is on the right.) Mark a diagonal line from corner to corner of Piece and sew along the marked line to make a diagonal seam. Trim away excess fabric, leaving a /4 seam allowance, and press the seam open. This is an Unit for a Right lock and should measure 4-/2 x 8-/2. ig. 2 Repeat to create a total of eight Units for Right locks each using White pieces, Snow pieces, ggshell pieces, Pepper pieces h, and Ice rappe pieces. Note: Several remaining steps use diagonal seams. When sewing diagonal seams, use the same process described in Steps 2 and 3, referring to the diagrams to make sure pieces and angles are aligned correctly. Step 4: Refer to ig. 3 to sew one White background piece to Punch piece, using a diagonal seam. 5 Step 5: Refer to ig. 4 to sew one White background piece to Punch piece, using a diagonal seam. This is an Unit for a Left lock and should measure 2-/2 x 8-/2. Repeat to create a total of eight Units for Right locks each using White pieces, Snow pieces, ggshell pieces, Pepper pieces, and Ice rappe pieces. ig. 4 Step 6: Refer to ig. 5 to sew one Pink lamingo piece to one White background piece using a diagonal seam. ig. 5 ig. 6 Step 7: Refer to ig. 6 to sew one Pink lamingo piece to the unit from Step 6. Sew the rows together to fi nish the 64-/2 x 80-/2 quilt top. Step 6: rom backing fabric, cut two pieces each 88 long. Trim away selvages and sew the pieces together along long sides. Trim the fi nished quilt back to 74 x 88 Step 7: Sandwich and quilt as desired. rom binding fabric, cut eight strips 2-/2 x WO and bind as desired. page 8
