2 Piecing/Assembly Using chart on page 4, cut units indicated for each fabric based on the layout chosen. Block 1: Unfinished size ½ x 13½ Step 1: Sew Unit A to left side of Unit B. Press seam towards Unit A. Step 2: Sew Unit A to right side of Unit B. Press seam towards Unit A. Step 3: Sew Unit A to top side of Unit B. Press seam towards Unit A. Step 4: Sew Unit A to bottom side of Unit B. Press seam towards Unit A. Repeat steps 1 through 4 for the remaining B units to make a total of 13 blocks: 4 with yellow border, 3 with green border, 3 with orange border, and 3 with blue border. Note: The Unit B is cut from the Celebrate Seuss panel and should measure 7½ by ½ after the ¼-inch seam allowance has been added to the printed rectangle as it is separated from the panel. If you have cut the units to the edge of the print, all is not lost! Sew your Unit A s to each side as indicated in the steps above, trimming Unit A to match the Unit B. panel. Your unfinished block size will be x 13 inches instead. Make Block 2 as instructed, then trim each of those blocks ¼ inch around the four sides to end up with an unfinished size of x 13 size. 3 Block 2: Unfinished size ½ x 13½ 1) Top Middle and Bottom Middle Units Step 1: Sew orange Unit to left side of white Unit. Press seam towards orange Unit. Step 2: Sew blue Unit to right side of white Unit. Press seam towards blue Unit. Step 3: Repeat 23 times for a total of units. Set aside. 2) Left Center and Right Center Units Step 1: Sew green Unit to side of white Unit. Press seam towards green Unit. Step 2: Sew yellow Unit to side of white Unit. Press seam towards yellow Unit. Step 3: Repeat 23 times for a total of units. Set aside. 3) Center Middle Unit Step 1: Sew white Unit to green Unit. Press seam towards green Unit. Sew second white Unit to opposite side of green Unit. Press seam towards green Unit. Repeat process for a total of units. Step 2: Sew orange Unit to white Unit. Press seam towards orange Unit. Sew blue Unit to opposite side of white Unit. Press seam towards blue Unit. Repeat process for a total of units. Step 3: Sew white Unit to yellow Unit. Press seam towards yellow Unit. Sew second white unit to opposite side of yellow Unit. Press seam towards yellow Unit. Repeat process for a total of units. Step 4: Sew unit created in Step 1 to unit created in step 2 matching seams and checking color chart above to insure correct color locations. Press seam towards Step 2 unit. Sew unit created in Step 3 to opposite side of unit created in Step 2 matching seams and checking color chart above to insure correct color locations. Press seam towards Step 2 unit. Repeat process for a total of units. 4) Assemble Block Step 1: Using the illustration as a guide sew together the top & bottom rows of the block. Press seams towards the center section of the row. Make. Step 2: Sew together the units for the center row. Press seams towards the outer units. Make. Step 3: Sew the three rows together matching seams. 4 Layout 1 inished Size: 50 x 65 Use piecing instructions on pages 4-5 to piece thirteen Block 1 and twelve Block 2. Assemble rows of blocks alternating block 1 and block 2 as illustrated. Press seams in each row towards Seuss block (block 1). There are no borders for this layout. Layout 2 inished Size: 56 x 58 Use piecing instructions on pages 4-5 to piece ten Block 1 and ten Block 2. Assemble the block rows alternating block 1 and block 2 using the illustration to the left. or the border, sew the six borders strips together end to end. rom the sewn strip cut two 52 lengths for left and right borders, and two 56 lengths for top and bottom borders. Attach the left and right borders to the assembled block top. Press seams towards borders. Attach the top and bottom borders.
