2 2013 Romanian Point Lace Flower Bookmarks Lin Hudren, Overton, NV USA Attended a Portland, OR lace group meeting with Annelore Stone of Washington and the guest speaker was Sylvia Murariu. I was hooked and bought most of her current patterns, books and kits. Have developed my own designs since 2013 and greatly enjoy this hand held easy craft I can carry anywhere. It is easy to stop and pick up and you can design anything that suits your fancy. I share this with the Arachne group as well. These are some of the first designs I created and have over 100 now on hand. Overall size measurements: 4.25" tall by 2.75" wide. You can size the pattern to suit. I added a silver hedgehog charm for lacers - as a totem symbolizes strength and potential. Used Size 30 threads with a US size 12 steel crochet hook for the petals and then used size 10 threads with size 10 crochet hook for the stems and leaves. In all cases I have found using a tapestry needle size 22 works to weave in the tail threads.

4 Malvary Cole It was made in Clark & Co. Machine Cotton 40, colours 193 (pink) and 201 (pale green). It was made from an old parchment pattern which was with an old lace pillow that I purchased. I decided that I wanted to do the triangles in Dieppe ground stitch, so I tried making the ground by only putting in pins at the edges (similar to Bucks point). It took a little more tensioning, but was quite do-able

5 JD Hammett I worked the initials in Pipers Spun Silk 140/2 on the reversed drawing I did of them. I put a thin piece of card under the workings in the hope that I would get a pricking as well as some people do not like working on line drawings. The number of pairs varied from 4 to 14 depending on the width of the braid. The stitches used were Arches, a simple variant of Italian fishes (single row), and simple spiral cloth division JD Hammett

7 Torchon Bookmark Baubles Spun In Love Designed by Susie Johnson, Morris, Illinois. 50/2 makes a flimsy bookmark. 30/2 is better for this gauge pricking. Elements: Start at point, Spiders, Cloth Stitch Fans, Cloth Stitch hearts and squares. Finish at point. Materials for brown bookmark: Maderia Cotona 50/2 1 yard per bobbin. DMC Fil or Clair Metallic 1 1/2 yard per bobbin (2 pair)rough, hard to tension. Materials for light green bookmark: Maderia Cotona 30/2 1 yard per bobbin. DMC Pearl Cotton #8 approx. ½ yard per bobbin as gimp. The Torchon bookmark start is exactly like the one on page 49 of Geraldine Stott s book, The Bobbin Lace Manual. For the brown bookmark use one of brown and one of metallic where there is 2s on the drawing, and remember to trade the brown bobbin for the gold as the weaver for the fans. The fan has 2 twists at the outer edge, cloth stitch the 1 st pair, one twist between the most outer pair and the next one the rest are cloth stitch; end with two twists as you set the inside pin. Reverse as you work back to the outer edge. The ground is the Torchon Ground (hs pin hs). Ms. Geraldine Stott s hint concerning gimps -. When a gimp is threaded through always remember to lift up LH thread and pass gimp over RH thread this applies to whichever direction you are working. Gimps are not marked on the pricking because it makes the pricking too confusing to read. Look at the green bookmark or plan your own. Additional Hints: Even with the length of 1 yard per bobbin, bobbins may run short at the whole stitch square weavers. Trade-off for fuller bobbins as needed.
