Check actual yarn colour as printing may not match yarn exactly. Milward 3.5mm and 4mm crochet hook. Bodkin for sewing up. Tension 21 sts and 12.5 rows (main patt for Solid Block Triangles of tr, before blocking) on 4mm hook or size needed to obtain correct tension. INSTRUCTIONS The Blanket is constructed from 3 separate Flower Triangles A, B and C, with 3 Block Triangles A, B and C placed alternately in between to make up each full hexagon. Note: Keep right side of work facing throughout when working Triangles but work backwards and forwards in rows when working Side Borders. Each completed Triangle measures approx. 17cm down each side edge, before blocking. The Flower Motif Triangles have slightly concave edges so do not try to stretch them straight when blocking them out. This will not be a problem for construction as the Block Triangles placed alternately in between are slightly convex to compensate. FLOWER TRIANGLE A (work 5) In 3rd C work 1 round. In 1st C work 1 round. In 2nd C work 1 round. With 4mm hook and 3rd C, work 6 ch, join with ss to form a ring. Round 1 In 3rd C work 3 ch, 2trtog into ring, (5 ch, 3trtog, 3 ch, 3trtog) twice into ring, 5 ch, 3trtog into ring, 3 ch, ss into top of 3 ch at beg of round. Fasten off. Round 2 Attach 1st C to last 3 ch sp, 1 ch, 1 dc into same 3 ch sp, *3 ch, (3trtog, 4 ch, 3dtrtog, Picot5, 4 ch, 3trtog) into 5 ch sp at corner, 3 ch**, 1 dc in next ch sp; rep from * once more then from * to ** again, ss into dc at beg of round. Fasten off Round 3 Attach 2nd C to dc of previous round, work 3 ch (counts as 1 tr), *3 tr into next 3 ch sp, 1 tr into 3trtog, 4 tr into 4 ch sp, (3 tr, 5 ch, 3 tr) into Picot5, 4 tr into 4 ch sp, 1 tr into 3trtog, 3 tr into 3 ch sp**, 1 tr into dc; rep from * once more, then from * to ** again, ss into top of 3 ch at beg of round. Round 5 - Attach 1st C into ch sp along the side edge, work (1 ch, 1 dc) in 1st ch sp, *2 dc into each ch sp to 2 ch sp at corner, work 2 dc into 2 ch sp, 4 dc into 4 ch sp, 5 ch, 4 dc into 4 ch sp, 2 dc into 2 ch sp; rep from * twice more, 2 dc into each ch sp to first ch sp at beg of round, 1 dc into ch sp, ss into top of 1st dc at beg of round. Fasten off. Round 1 In 3 rd C work 1 ch, 11 dc into ring, ss into top of ch at beg of round (12 dc). Break off 3 rd C, join in 4 th C. Round 2 In 4 th C, work 1 ch, 1 dc into next dc, *(1 dc, 12 ch, 1 dc) into next dc**, 1 dc into each of next 3 dc; rep from * once more, then from * to ** again, 1 dc into each of next 2 dc, ss into first dc at beg of round. Round 3 In 4 th C work 1 ch, 1 dc into next dc, *(2 dc, 3 htr, 1 ch, 4 tr, 3 ch, 4 tr, 1 ch, 3 htr, 2 dc) into 12 ch sp**, 1 dc into each of next 3 dc; rep from * once more then from * to ** again, 1 dc into next 2 dc, ss into top of 1 st dc. SOLID BLOCK TRIANGLE A (work 5) In 1 st C work 1 round. In 2 nd C work 1 round. Handy hint: When working each round after round 3, you may find that if your tension is slightly loose, the edges of each triangle might become too convex. If this is the case, work an extra ch at each corner and this will help make the side edges much straighter. When joining in new Colours, hold the 2 tail ends to the left so that you crochet over them to encase them as you go along. This will save you a lot of time during the Blanket construction. With 3.5mm hook and 1st C, make 4 ch, join with ss to form a ring and patt thus: Round 1 6 ch (counts as 1 tr, 3 ch sp for 1 st corner), *3 tr into ring, 3 ch; rep from * once more, 2 tr into ring, join with ss into 3rd of 6 ch. Break 1st C and fasten off. For all subsequent rounds, work into each ch sp of previous round only as follows: Round 2 Attach 2 nd C to 1st ch sp from previous round, 6 ch ch sp, (3 tr, 3 ch, 3 tr, 1 ch) into each of next 2 ch sp, then 2 tr into next ch sp at 1 st corner, join with ss into 3rd of 6 ch. Break 2 nd C. Round 3 Attach 3 rd C to 1 st ch sp from previous round, 6 ch ch sp, *(3 tr, 1 ch) into next ch sp, (3 tr, 3 ch, 3 tr, 1 ch) in next ch sp; rep from * once more, (3 tr, 1 ch) in next ch sp, then 2 tr into next ch sp at 1 st corner, join with ss into 3rd of 6 ch. Round 4 - Attach 1 st C to 1 st ch sp from previous round, 6 ch ch sp, *(3tr, 1 ch) into each of next 2 ch sp, (3 tr, 3 ch, 3 tr, 1 ch) in next ch sp; rep from * once more, (3 tr, 1 ch) into each of next 2 ch sp, then 2 tr into next ch sp at 1 st corner, join with ss into 3rd of 6 ch. Break 1 st C. Round 5 - Attach 2 nd C to 1 st ch sp from previous round, 6 ch ch sp, *(3tr, 1 ch) into each of next 3 ch sp, 3 tr, 3 ch, 3 tr, 1 ch; rep from * once more, (3tr, 1 ch) into each of next 3 ch sp then 2 tr into next ch sp at 1 st corner, join with ss into 3rd of 6 ch. SOLID BLOCK TRIANGLE C (work 5) Work as Solid Block Triangle A, using the following Colour sequence: In 4 th C work 1 round. MAKE UP Joining the triangles Block out with pins and either spray with fresh, clean water or cover with a damp cloth. Remove cloth after half an hour and leave to dry flat. Using Construction Diagram and photographs as a guide, take one of each Triangle and place them so that Flower Triangle A is opposite Solid Filler Block Triangle A, Flower Triangle B is opposite Solid Filler Block Triangle B and Flower Triangle C is

6 opposite Solid Filler Block Triangle C. Over-sew the blocks together to form a hexagon, taking in half a stitch, taking care not to pull tightly so that the seam remains elastic and leaving a small hole around the size of a penny - in the centre of each hexagon (the corners of each Triangle are slightly rounded, so this hole will help to prevent puckering from forming at the centre of each hexagon). Repeat until all hexagons are completed, then join the hexagons in a line, as shown in Construction Diagram. Block out again, stretching slightly, to remove any puckering. If your hexagons are still slightly puckered, your seams have been sewn too tightly. Flower Triangle A (M1) Flower Triangle C (M3) Flower Triangle B (M2) Solid block triangle A (B1) MAKE UP Outer borders & tassels Left Side Border Work backwards and forwards in rows as follows: Foundation row (RS), with RS facing, 4mm hook and 4 th C, starting at top left edge, work 1 row dc all down left zig-zag edge, working 31 dc down each side edge of each Flower Motif Triangle and 34 dc down each side edge of each Filler Block Triangle to end. Place a marker in last st of each Triangle to mark inner and outer corners. In 3rd C work 6 rows In 2 nd C work 6 rows. In 1 st C work 6 rows Work in thus: Next row Work 3 ch (counts as 1 st tr), 2trtog across next 2 dc, *work 1 tr into each dc to marked st, work 3 tr in next dc (for outer corner)**, work 1 tr into each dc to within 1 st of next marked st, work 3trtog over next 3 dc (for inner corner); rep from * 3 times more then from * to ** again, work 1 tr into each dc to within 2 dc from end, work 2trtog over last 2 dc. Next row Work 3 ch (counts as 1 st tr), 2trtog across next 2 tr, *work 1 tr into each tr to marked st, work 3 tr in next tr (for outer corner)**, work 1 tr into each tr to within 1 st of next marked st, work 3trtog over next 3 tr (for inner corner); rep from * 3 times more then from * to ** again, work 1 tr into each tr to within 2 tr from end, work 2trtog over last 2 tr. Last row forms patt. Work 2 more rows in 4 th C. Break 4 th C, join in 3 rd C and keeping correct, rep last row until all rows in have been worked. Fasten off. Right Side Border With RS facing, 4mm hook and 4 th C, starting at lower right edge, work 1 row dc all up right zig-zag edge and complete as for Left Side Border, working 34 dc up each side edge of each Filler Block Triangle and 31 dc up each side edge of each Flower Motif Triangle to end. Block out blanket with pins, stretching borders slightly to accentuate the zig-zags. Cover with a damp cloth and leave to dry.

7 Make 10 tassels and sew to outer points down each side edge to complete. To make each tassel Take 1 end each of 1 st C, 2 nd C and 3 rd C and wrap 30 times lengthways (top to bottom) around a DVD case. Thread a doubled 30cm length of 4 th C through the loops and tie securely at the top whilst sliding loops carefully off the case. Tie another length of 4 th C 12 times around the top, 1.5cm down and tie ends together securely. Thread ends through to inside of tassel and trim. Cut opposite ends of loops to form the tassel skirt and trim ends evenly.
