PATTERN NOTES Top is worked from the top down. Chain-3 at beginning of row or round counts as first double crochet unless otherwise stated. For best results, count your stitches at the end of each row, making sure you have the required number of stitches between the increases at the yoke of Top. Move markers up with each row or round. Length of the body may be increased. Simply continue with the shell rows. Two methods will be given to begin this Top. One will use the foundation single crochet described in the Special Stitches; the other will use the traditional chain and first row of single crochet. After this first foundation row the instructions will be the same. Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated. Chain-4 at beginning of row or round counts as first double crochet and chain-1 unless otherwise stated. Chain-5 at beginning of row or round counts as first double crochet and chain-2 unless otherwise stated.
