2 Speaker Bios (Listed in Alphabetical Order) Patrick Deng, MBA Director, Finance, U.S. Business Unit at IMS Health Patrick Deng serves as the Director of Finance at IMS Health, a leading global healthcare analytics & technology services company. He is responsible for planning, budgeting, and forecasting of the company s key U.S. business lines, new offering investment planning, and acquisition integration/reporting. Patrick has over 15 years of strategy, planning, and operation experience in finance and commercial management. Before assuming his current role, Patrick was Director of Finance, Strategic Pricing, at IMS Health. In that capacity, he led the development and roll- out of numerous pricing initiatives to drive revenue and profit growth in U.S. and global markets. Prior to joining IMS Health, Patrick worked in Corning Incorporated in Corning, NY, where he was responsible for market research, demand forecast, and price planning for its TFT- LCD Display division. Patrick received an MBA in Finance and Strategic Management from the Wharton School in 2002 and a BS in Chemistry from Peking University in Xi- Yong (Sean) Fu, PhD, MBA Finance Director, Merck & Co. Born in Chengdu China, Sean split his early years between Chengdu and Shanghai. After graduating from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Fudan University, Sean went to The Ohio State University where he earned a PhD in Engineering. In 2010, Sean completed his MBA in Wharton School with a focus on finance and healthcare industry. Sean joined Merck in 2001 as a Senior Research Scientists specialized in formulation development. Over years, Sean contributed to over 15 preclinical development programs including HIV Integrase Inhibitor Isentress. Sean has published 11 peer reviewed scientific papers, holds one US patent and was invited as a keynote speaker for international conferences. In 2007, Sean took a position in Merck Finance where his responsibility involved budgetary and operation planning, performance management, and strategy development. Post Merck- Schering merger, Sean led Net Integration Team to realize Merck's new global discovery network. His work directly impacted 22 global sites and over 6000 scientists. Currently, Sean is leading a strategic initiative to realize Merck's innovative core infrastructure in its NJ research site. 2

3 Yingke He, MBA Portfolio Lead, BioMPD, GSK Yingke He is currently the Portfolio Director of Biopharm CMC at GSK leading a team of project managers to provide portfolio and project management support to Biopharm CMC senior leaders and late phase CMC project teams. Before joining Biopharm, Yingke spent the past 3 years in Shanghai as the Director of Portfolio and Project Management at GSK s China R&D Center supporting the late phase clinical development, registration and commercialization of GSK products in China. Yingke s career in GSK started in 1999 as a medicinal chemist after she obtained her MS in Chemistry from the University of Southern California. Then she moved on to be a senior Cheminformatic analyst to support high throughput chemistry, high throughput screening and compound management. In 2003, after obtained her MBA from the Pennsylvania State University, Yingke took the position as a portfolio analysis manager in Molecular Discovery Research group providing analytical support on portfolio tracking, performance tracking and resourcing planning. Later, she worked as the portfolio manager in Drug Discovery organization to provide performance measurement, portfolio analysis, risk analysis, strategic forecasting, and business recommendations to GSK senior leaders and project teams. She also worked as a project manager for a couple of late phase and post approval projects before she went back to GSK China R&D center in Yingke He graduated from Sichuan University with a bachelor degree in Chemistry in Feng (Frank) Li, PhD President and co- founder, Alliance Pharma Dr. Li obtained his Ph.D. in Bioanalytical Chemistry jointly from Canadian Doping Control Centre and Concordia University. Subsequently he conducted post- doctoral training in Biomedical Mass Spectrometry Facility at Mayo Clinic. Furthermore, Dr. Li also has a BS in Pharmacy and a MS in Medicinal Chemistry. Professionally, he has held responsible roles in the area of drug discovery metabolism at MDS Pharma Services (a major CRO), in the Drug Analysis group in the Department of Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) at GSK Pharmaceuticals and in the Drug Metabolism group at Cephalon. Dr. Li has extensive DMPK experience in both the drug discovery and development. He is a recognized expert in the field of bioanalysis and DMPK. He has more than 15 years working experience in CRO, pharmaceutical and biotech industries. Yin Liang, MD, PhD Senior Scientific Director, Research Fellow at Janssen RD, Johnson and Johnson Dr. Yin Liang has her post- doctoral training at Diabetes Research Center, University of Pennsylvania. In 1992, she obtained numerous research grants and became Research Assistant Professor in the School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. She joined the Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Research, Endocrine Therapeutics Team in In the past 12 years, 3

4 she has been a key contributor and project champion to the discovery and development of canagliflozin. She has designed, conducted and supervised all the non- clinical pharmacology studies to support this project from Discovery stage to FDA approval. She also made significant contribution to Canagliflozin development documentation, include IB, IND and NDA. In addition, Yin has delivered 8 new molecular entitys (NME) for pre- clinical development. Among them, 5 compounds proceeded to phase I study. Before Yin jointed J&J, she had worked in Ergo Science and participated pre- clinical pharmacology studies to support CYCLOSET Phase III trials and FDA approval. She is the author of over 50 publications, more than 40 abstracts and 6 patents. Hui Liu, PhD, MBA Business Consulting Manager, ZS Associates Hui is a Business Consulting Manager with ZS Associates, a global leader in sales and marketing strategy consulting, focusing on big and small pharmaceutical companies as well as other industries. At ZS, Hui has extensive experience in effectively managing several large global teams across multiple practices and multiple clients. Prior to ZS, Hui worked a few years in the diagnostics industry at Johnson & Johnson and Roche Diagnostics across functions in R&D and Operations as a Senior Scientist. Hui holds an MBA from the New York University Stern School of Business, a PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Arizona, and a Bachelor from Peking University. Aston Liu, Ph.D Senior Manager, Biopharmaceutical Development, GlaxoSmithKline Dr. Liu is currently a Senior Manager and CMC Leader in Biopharm R&D of GlaxoSmithKline. Prior to joining GlaxoSmithKline, Dr. Liu was Head of Analytical Development in Tanox, Inc, which was acquired by Genentech/Roche. Before that, Dr. Liu spent several years working with Pfizer Biopharma and Agenus, Inc, assuming increasing responsibilities with the last role as Director of Analytical Chemistry. Dr. Liu was also a founding investor and a member of the Board of Directors of Hypromatrix, Inc. Dr. Liu received his Ph.D. from University of Minnesota and postdoctoral training at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. He went on to receive additional training in Business Management at Boston University School of Management. Dr. Liu published more than 20 peer- reviewed journal articles and book chapters and is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences. Dr. Liu holds three US & international patents and received numerous awards including the prestigious R&D 100 Awards recognizing the 100 best innovations of the year worldwide. 4

5 Yu Lu, MBA Senior Director of Business Development, Wuxi AppTec. Yu Lu is the Senior Director of Business Development at WuXi AppTec. Since joining WuXi in 2012, she has led the business development team within STA, the API development and manufacture division of WuXi, covering both key accounts management and new business development. Most recently she assumed responsibility to start STA s marketing function. Prior to joining WuXi, Yu worked for Huahai US from 2009 to 2012 in business development and was responsible for establishing co- development and commercialization partnerships, marketing and sales of generic drug products. She championed the commercial launch of the company s first few generic products in US market, which is the pioneer among Chinese pharmaceutical companies. Before that, she worked for Vertex Pharmaceuticals from where she led the drug product analytical development team for Incivek TM and managed technical transfer to CROs and CMOs worldwide. From 2001 to 2004, she worked for Merck Research Lab as an analytical scientist in pharmaceutical development. Yu received her B.S. degree from Peking University and M.S. degree in chemistry from Duke University. She also received her MBA degree from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. Fang Shen, PhD Principal Scientist, Janssen RD, Johnson and Johnson Dr. Fang Shen is a Principal Scientist and project lead for multiple early drug discovery programs in Janssen R&D, pharmaceutical company of Johnson & Johnson. Fang and his team are responsible for identification & validation of novel drug targets; understanding molecular mechanism of drug action; and progressing pre- portfolio projects into early development. Prior to that, Fang worked at Genentech for over two years as a key member of early drug discovery team. Dr. Shen got his postdoctoral training in Dr. Sarah Gaffen s lab at SUNY Buffalo, one of the leading groups on IL- 17 receptor biology. He published multiple papers on IL- 17 receptor configuration, signal transduction, and role of IL- 17 in host defense. Dr. Shen got his PhD in Institute of Materia Medica, CAMS & PUMC ( 中国医学科学院中国协和医科大学药物研究所 ), where he is one of the major contributors of early stage research of Imrecoxib, a novel cyclooxygenase- 2 selective inhibitor to treat arthritic pain marketed in China in Bin Shi, Ph.D Research Fellow, In Vivo Pharmacology Department, Merck Dr. Bin Shi ( 石斌 )currently is a Research Fellow in the In Vivo Pharmacology Department at Merck, and the Principal Investigator (PI) overseeing anti- cancer and infectious disease drug evaluation using animal models to support development of Merck s compounds in pre- clinical and clinical PhI- III trials. Bin completed her Ph.D. at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, her Master of Science degree at State University of New York in Syracuse, and her Bachelor of Science degree at Nankai University. Bin has been working in the 5

6 pharmaceutical industries in the USA for over 16 years. She has been an active member of AACR (American Association of Cancer Research) since 2006 and a member of NSH (National Society of Histotechnology). Bin has published more than 50 papers, abstracts and patents in reputed journals and conferences, serving as the first and corresponding author in the manuscripts. Bin has been also serving as an invited reviewer for several peer reviewed journals and an invited speaker at several conferences. She is also actively involved in working community services, including a leading role for Connectivity of LINK in Merck to leverage internal networking, knowledge and communication. Bin is a lifetime SAPA member, and serves in the senior leadership team (SLT) with increased responsibility: Executive Council, General Secretary, and VP of Public Affairs, Communication and Outreach of SAPA- GP. Weifeng Tang, M.D., Ph.D Director of Clinical Pharmacology, AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals Weifeng Tang, M.D., Ph.D. is a director of clinical pharmacology at AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals. Weifeng received his M.D. and M.S. degree from Hunan Medical University in China. On 1996, Weifeng came to The University of Rhode Island School of Pharmacy and received his Ph.D. degree in Pharmacology on Since then, Weifeng started his career in pharmaceutical industry at Bayer ( ) and at AstraZeneca (2007- present). Weifeng has worked from early discovery, to late clinical development and life cycle management. Currently, he is clinical pharmacology leader for Gefitinib (Iressa) and Dapagliflozin (Forxiga). Michael Xing, MBA Senior HR Director, WuXi AppTec. Michael has more than sixteen years experience in the HR field in both a corporate and consulting capacity. In 1998 Michael got a MBA degree from University of Wales, Aberystwyth, UK, and then he started work at Ericsson Mobile Communications and Nortel Networks. From 2002, he entered into HR consulting business, and worked as the Chief HR Consultant in his co- founded company of Friend Fortune Consulting and earlier worked as a Senior Consultant at Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu (China). In 2008, Michael joined Pfizer with the position of staffing head of China; he acted a critical role in the merge project of Pfizer with Wyeth in China. From 2010 he has been working in Simcere and SMSD, the JV of Simcere and MSD, as the HR executives. In addition, Michael is also a professional trainer, who has completed 1000 hours training practice in career development. Jing Yang, PhD Senior Principal Scientist & Discovery Biology Program Leader, Bristol- Myers Squibb Dr. Jing Yang is currently a Principal Scientist at the Cardiovascular Drug Discovery Biology Department, Bristol- Myers Squibb Company. She is the Biology Co- Chair for a late stage program and lead an integrated multidisciplinary industry- academic team to progress a small 6

7 molecule compound for First- in- Human studies. Prior to joining Bristol- Myers Squibb, Dr. Yang had six years of experience leading biologics and cell therapy research programs at Centocor, Johnson & Johnson Development Corporation. She championed a number of academic collaborations and industrial alliances to support advancement of therapeutic agents. Dr. Yang received a BS degree in Physical Chemistry at Sichuan University and a Ph.D degree in glycobiology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Yang did her Postdoc trainings in vascular biology with Dr. Bruce Furie and Barbara Furie at New England Medical Center and then in platelet biology with Dr. Lawrence Brass at University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Yang was appointed to an Instructor position at the Center for Experimental Therapeutics and Department of Pharmacology, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Yang is now an Executive Council member of SAPA- GP and a member of the American Heart Association council on Basic Cardiovascular Science & the council on Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology. 7
