2 The meeting will bring together an estimated 200 participants from public and private sector institutions that play key roles in Africa s agricultural development. The meeting will involve high level interactionbetween officials from Regional Member Countries (RMCs), Ministers of Finance and Agriculture, Central Bank Governors, financial institutions, insurance companies, sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, agribusiness companies, youth groups, civil society organizations, among others. The meeting will take place over two days, and will comprise of (i) plenary sessions and; (ii) ministerial roundtable sessions. 3 HIGH LEVEL PANEL DISCUSSIONS Overall Objective: This plenary session will feature presentations on selected innovative and best practice agri-finance and risk sharing models developed by financial institutions, governments and non-financial institutions. This will be followed by panel discussions and question and answer sessions between the panelists and audience. The goal is to draw lessons from country and institutional experience, identify drivers of success, common challenges, and gaps which can possibly be addressed by an Africa Agriculture Financing and Risk Sharing Mechanism. 10h00 11h00 PANEL I: Public Sector-Led Agricultural Finance Risk Sharing Models Panel members from government institutions will share their experience on facilitating risk sharing approaches in order to promote increased commercial lending to agriculture. Private sector and financial institution representatives to engage public sector counterparts on policies, regulatory and institutional frameworks required to (i) enable increased private sector investment and commercial lending to agriculture using the risk sharing mechanism, and; (ii) facilitate the effective implementation of a national and/or continental risk sharing mechanism.
