4 2016 AIMSVAR Conference Keynote Speakers Name: Jeff Ruby Organization: RedRock Leadership Founder and President, RedRock Leadership 21 st Century Success Strategies: Selling in the New Normal Bio: Jeff Ruby is the founder of RedRock Leadership. During the course of his professional career, he has worked in organizations ranging in size from a sole practitioner to Fortune 500. His diverse background in business is unprecedented. Included in his experience are roles in starting and selling companies, sales and sales management, training and development, executive coaching, human resources, strategy, analysis and marketing. His clients have seen results from his contributions through increased sales and profitability, increased effectiveness of their teams, growth and development of future leaders, clarification of strategic intent and direction, and cultural change in the midst of rapidly changing market conditions. His unique capabilities include consulting, executive coaching, sales performance management, talent evaluation, sales process and skill development, strategic planning and strategy development. Prior to forming RedRock Leadership, Jeff was Founder and President of The Ruby Group, a sales training company in Ohio. In this role, he led his team in developing highly effective sales and leadership teams for hundreds of companies in a variety of markets throughout the United States. In 2005, after building a profitable business, Jeff sold the company. Prior to founding The Ruby Group, Jeff worked in a variety of roles for Illumetek Corp, a national lighting management company, including a role that was responsible for cultivating new key accounts. In that role he was also responsible for marketing, job costing, profitability analysis, customer management and directing sales for Illumetek s retrofit and service division. His efforts directly related to an increase in profit and an 800% + increase in sales over a four-year period. Prior to that role, he led the Service Sales Division for The Geopfert Company, an Ohio based mechanical contractor. Among his most notable accomplishments was overseeing the sales of 219 new service agreements over a three-year period and establishing 130 new commercial and industrial accounts. Jeff is a dynamic and powerful speaker. His motivational messages and real life stories can be applied to virtually any industry and can make the difference between struggling to stay afloat and moving forward 4
5 to achieve life goals. Jeff was born and raised in northeast Ohio. He resides in the Tampa Bay area with his wife, two daughters and his Golden Retriever, Buckeye. He graduated from The University of Akron with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He currently serves on the Board for Eckerd's Friends of the Children and two committees at Idlewild Baptist Church. Name: John Petrila - JD, LLM Organization: University of South Florida, College of Public Health Chair and Professor, Department of Health Policy and Management, College of Public Health at University of South Florida Healthcare Policy and Technology: Now and the Future Bio: John Petrila joined HPM in He came to the University of South Florida in 1992 as Chair of the Department of Mental Health Law and Policy at the Florida Mental Health Institute. Before that he was General Counsel to the New York Office of Mental Health, the largest public mental health agency in the United States. He was a member of the MacArthur Foundation Research Network on Mandated Community Treatment and in 2010 received a Fulbright Scholar Award to teach and conduct research at Maastricht University in the Netherlands. He is past President of the International Association of Forensic Mental Health Services, and received the University of South Florida President's Award for Faculty Excellence in His research interests include the impact of health law on population health, disparities in access to health care, and the development and implementation of health policy. Name: Sean T. Gregory MBA, MS, PhD Organization: University of South Florida, College of Public Health Professor, Department of Health Policy and Management, College of Public Health at University of South Florida Healthcare Policy and Technology: Now and the Future Bio: Dr. Gregory is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the University of South Florida, College of Public Health, in Tampa FL, holding 5
6 a joint appointment with the Department of Pediatrics, at the Morsani College of Medicine. His research foci are physician burnout and engagement, comparative and cost-effectiveness in Pediatrics, Medicaid policy, and the integration of behavioral and physical health. These research interests are derived from applied problems and issues in health care financing and delivery that Dr. Gregory faced as an executive for a national managed care firm, and with a large integrated delivery system, prior to pursuing his academic career. Dr. Gregory has authored over 20 peer-reviewed publications and technical reports. These publications have been featured in clinical and health services journals such as JAMA, JAMA IM, Journal of Clinical Lipidology, Value in Health, Journal of Nursing Administration, and Journal of Healthcare Management. His work has been presented at national conferences including AcademyHealth Annual Research Meeting, American Heart Association Epi/Lifestyle, and the American Public Health Association Annual Meeting. He serves as article reviewer for several journals, including Value in Health, Journal of Healthcare Management and Medical Care, and is a member of many professional societies, such as AcademyHealth, Society for Medical Decision Making, and the American College of Healthcare Executives. Currently, Dr. Gregory is leading an effort to test interventions to reduce Physician Burnout, funded in part through the Center for Health Care Transformation, (CHOT), a NSF IU/CRC. This builds on work completed for his dissertation, and intends to identify work place and organizational interventions, which reduce burnout and improve engagement. He also serves as the evaluator for a three-year HRSA Rural Health Network Development Grant to establish a virtual accountable care organization serving Medicare and Dual-eligible individuals, residing in rural Southeast Texas. To date, Dr. Gregory has secured over $400K as Principal Investigator for extramural research, and has served as a co-investigator on over $3MM in extramurally funded projects. Prior to joining the USF, Dr. Gregory was an Assistant Professor in the departments of Health Policy and Management, and Pediatrics at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, where he was a member of the Texas Medicaid 1115a waiver evaluation group. Dr. Gregory earned his doctorate and masters in Health Services Research, Policy and Administration, from the University of Minnesota, in Minneapolis MN, during which he was a AHRQ NRSA Fellow, and his MBA and BS from the College of Business at The Florida State University, in Tallahassee, FL. 6
7 Name: Jennifer Greenman Organization: Moffitt Cancer Center Vice President of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer, Moffitt Cancer Center Technology Sales and Implementation: Changing the Minds of Healthcare Decision Makers Bio: Jennifer Greenman is the Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Moffitt Cancer Center, an NCI designated cancer center in Tampa, Florida. In her role, she provides leadership and strategic direction for technology initiatives that support Moffitt s mission to contribute to the prevention and cure of cancer. Jennifer joined Moffitt in July 2013 as the center s Senior Director for Application Service and led Moffitt s clinical and business systems teams, including the implementation of the organization s Electronic Health Record initiatives. Prior to joining Moffitt, Ms. Greenman worked for Bayfront Health System in a variety of IT management roles, including their Chief Information Officer for three years. She has also worked as a Solution Delivery Consultant for Cerner. Ms. Greenman is a graduate of the University of Florida with a master s in Business Administration. Name: Mark Norris Organization: Medical Records Services CEO, Medical Records Services Topics: Strategies for Change: Meaningful Use Policy Implications* *Tentative Title Bio: Mark is a collaborative and passionate HIT professional with a history of working with providers, EHR software vendors, hospitals, state and federal agencies for Meaningful Use compliance. He came out of the Regional Extension Center Program in Ohio, where he was one of seven directors for the Ohio Health Information Partnership. He designed and implemented Northeast Ohio s Regional Extension Center, (NEO HealthConnect) serving 350 primary care physicians, including six hospital systems across 7
8 four counties, in their march forward towards Meaningful Use compliance. Prior to joining NEO HealthConnect as their Executive Director, he spent the previous 20 years working with payors, practices and software developers in various roles ranging from database administration to training, implementation, sales and product development. With the ending of the grant period and the closing of the Regional Extension Center s in February 2014, he opened a private consulting firm where he focuses on Meaningful Use compliance for the small - to - medium sized ambulatory care practices. His services range from compliance assistance to Meaningful Use audit representation. He is a contributing author to Medical Economics on Privacy and Security, HIPAA Compliance and Meaningful Use. Name: Douglas Bell Organization: Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney Senior Principal Government Relations, Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney Embrace the Future: Federal and State-based Healthcare Affairs Tentative Topic Bio: Doug Bell focuses his practice on government affairs and administrative law, where he has worked in various policy areas focusing on healthcare, insurance, general business issues and various local government issues. Office and Practice Group Leader, Federal Government Relations, Embrace the Future: Federal and State-based Healthcare Affairs Tentative Topic Bio: With a career spanning two decades, Michael P. Strazzella has experience in federal government relations, legislative strategy, grassroots advocacy, political action campaigns, and coalition building. He is the co-head of Buchanan s Washington, D.C. office and chairs the firm s Federal Government Relations practice group. Michael focuses his practice on the health industry (providers and payors) and has assisted clients in various industries, including pharmaceutical, hospital and health systems, health plans and retail and compounding pharmacy industries. Adept when it comes to navigating relationships, Michael works closely with Congress and the Executive Branch, including the Department of Health and Human Services; Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services; the Food and Drug Administration; U.S. Customs; and the Drug Enforcement Agency, to create effective lobbying strategies as they apply to the healthcare sector. Prior to joining Buchanan, he worked for a state hospital association where he was responsible for the federal lobbying efforts, strategy and oversight of the political action committees. Michael also managed congressional and regulatory affairs for several national physician associations that had interests in the laboratory and mental health space. In those positions, he educated members of Congress, the White House and federal agencies on association issues, formulated lobbying strategies and initiated coalition activity in support of positions. In addition to his experience managing congressional, regulatory and regional relations for various entities, Michael worked on several U.S. Senate and statewide campaigns. A frequent lecturer, Michael has presented to hospital boards, executive leadership, state and national health care associations, pharmaceutical companies, county chambers of commerce and economic organizations on federal health care issues and the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
