2 Nominations for Division Chairman and Ordinary Members Division Chairman The outgoing Division Committee has decided to nominate Ir Eric CHAN Kar Lock for election as the Chairman for Session 2013/2014. No nomination has been received from members by the deadline. Ordinary Members The outgoing Division Committee has decided to opt for the maximum of 15 Ordinary Members, and five Ordinary Members in the Committee shall retire by end of the Session, namely Ir Eric CHAN Kar Lock, Ir LAM Chi Sing, Ir Bobby NG Mang Tung, Ir Thomas TAM Yau Kay and Ir Arthur YUNG Hun Tat. The Division Committee has decided to nominate the following five candidates for Ordinary Members for a three-year term: Ir Aaron BOK Kwok Ming, Ir Sean CHEONG Chin Pang, Ir Joseph CHI Wuh Jian, Ir Alfred LEUNG Wai Ho and Ir Tony WONG Tung Leong. 6 The whole civil engineering profession and industry have been extremely vibrant in the year 2012/2013 with a spectrum of infrastructure projects underway and in the pipeline. I am extremely glad and thankful to all my committee members, co-opted members as well as activity and event organizers and helpers in sparing time from their already packed schedules to fill the calendar with exciting activities with high quality. In line with my objective of widening our knowledge base to diversified disciplines, the Division, apart from organizing over a hundred number of site visits and technical meetings, has organized a number of joint division/institution site visits and technical meetings. I must also thank all the partnering divisions and institutions for the efforts in co-organizing the activities. The Division has also continued to maintain a strong tie with Mainland counterparts in organizing exchange activities, including the Winter Camp for young engineers to Qingdao in collaboration with the China Civil Engineering Society, and exploring relationships with other affiliates. Young engineers and students are always at the heart of the Division and towards this the Division continued to support a range of activities for them to actively participate. They were also empowered to lead some of the activities as organizer themselves, under the guidance and supervision of committee members, to develop their organizational skills away from the work desk. I am proud to see that they have organized extremely successful activities, noticeably the Overseas Delegation to Malaysia. Building on this success, the young engineers will be organizing another visit to Thailand this coming July. The Annual Dinner held in November 2012 is yet another enjoyable event witnessing the theme of 'Past, Present and Future' of civil engineering. Guests were also dazzled by the incredible talents of both young and senior engineers in performing tic-tac dance and singing songs to the theme of the night. All guests were filled with joy throughout the evening and certainly were looking forward to the next gathering opportunity. Looking forward, the Division is in the process of organizing another International Conference on Infrastructure in the Year 2014 and certainly the next term will see yet another successful year of division activities. Nevertheless, members' support is indispensable in giving the Committee the drive to continue to excel in organizing activities. All members pledge in continuing their support to the Division will be fundamental and I trust the Committee will be having your continued full support. 8 Minutes of the Thirty-third Annual General Meeting 1. The Thirty-third Annual General Meeting of the was held at 6:30pm on Friday, 4 May 2012 in Room PQ303, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Ir Leo LEUNG Kwok Kee, Chair of the Division took the chair. The meeting was attended by 50 members. 2. The Minutes of the Thirty-second Annual General Meeting together with the Annual Report in the Session 2011/2012 had been uploaded onto the HKIE and the websites and mailed to all local members of the Division before the AGM. Ir King WONG proposed that the Minutes be accepted and this was seconded by Ir Thomas TAM Yau Kay. The Minutes were confirmed by a show of hands unanimously. 3. The Chairman briefly reported the Annual Report of the Division for Session 2011/2012. He invited members to adopt the Annual Report of the Division. Ir David LAU Tai Wai proposed such motion and this was seconded by Ir Raymond HO Chung Tai. The Annual Report was adopted by a show of hands unanimously. 4. The Honorary Treasurer, Ir Eric CHAN Kar Lock distributed the Financial Statement of the Division for the year ending 31 March 2012 (Enclosure 1). He highlighted the overall income and expenditure account, net income arising from the event and the total expenditures for Session 2011/2012. Ir LAM Chi Sing proposed that the Financial Statement be received, and this was seconded by Ir LEE Ping Kuen. The Financial Statement was received by a show of hands unanimously. 5. The Chairman noted that the Committee had nominated Ir David LAU Tai Wai to be the Chairman of the Division for the forthcoming session. Ir David LAU Tai Wai was elected as the Chairman of the Division respectively by a show of hands unanimously. 6. The Chairman noted that there were six vacancies in the Committee and the Committee had nominated six candidates. They were Ir Eric CHAN Kar Lock, Ir Derrick PANG Yat Bond, Ir KONG Shui Sun, Ir Victor LO King Yin, Ir Ian CHUNG Siu Ping and Ir Crystal HO Wing Ching. There were no objections. The Chairman confirmed that the above nominations are elected. 7. The Chairman thanked his Committee members for their efforts and contribution during the session. He also thanked all members of the for their supports in the Division s activities. 8. The outgoing Division Committee has decided to nominate Ir Leo LEUNG Kwok Kee for election as Council Member (Division) for sessions 2012/2013 and 2013/2014. Ir Leo LEUNG Kwok Kee was elected as the Council Member (Division) by a show of hands unanimously. 9. Ir David LAU Tai Wai proposed a vote of thanks to the outgoing Chairman Ir Leo LEUNG Kwok Kee for his dedication and leadership during the past year.
