1 INTER-DISCIPLINARY MARITIME PRACTICE WORKSHOP SERIES II Third (3rd) SESSION ON THURSDAY 19 th January 2017 This is the second series of workshops with a theme of Inter-disciplinary Maritime Practice (IMP), and is jointly organized by The Hong Kong Logistics Management Staff Association (HKLMSA), C.Y. Tung International Centre for Maritime Studies, PolyU (ICMS) and the Hong Kong Seamen Union (HKSU). This IMP Series II (2) will follow the same methodology and format like the IMP Workshop Series I launched in January 2014, which was conceived to cover the entire lifespan of a ship, from the decision to purchase to its final loss or scrapping, and designed to provide a platform for eminent professionals from the Hong Kong Maritime Industry to unreservedly share their view and valuable experience with those professionals, young entrants in particular, in the shipping fraternity of the Greater China Region. IMP S1 was conducted in interactive and mind-provoking sessions, the value of which was clearly endorsed by most of the participants who requested incessantly for the repeat of a similar programme for months after the completion of IMP S1 December Responding to such earnest requests, the IMP Committee, have through its relentless efforts, succeeded in re-introducing an innovative, educational and interesting programme in IMP S2, in monthly 2.5-hour workshop sessions commencing on 29 th November The Third Session of the IMP Workshop Series II is on the topic of PROJECT MANAGEMENT, SHIPBUILDING & S&P. The Project Management will be based on the model of an Offshore Wind Energy project in the Greater China Region, and the various related maritime fields, viz., construction of specialized vessels and port facilities etc. The Shipbuilding & S&P will look at the practical issues faced in Shipbuilding and related areas. 4 PANEL OF MODERATORS & ADVISORS MODERATORS Mr. WONG Tak Chiu (Raymond) 50 year experience in average adjusting; qualified by examination in 1980 becoming the first Chinese Fellow of the British Association of Average Adjusters (founded 1869); a frequent speaker in Greater China on marine claims related subjects. Currently, the Chairman of the Institute of Seatransport, an Honorary Advisor of the HK Logistic Management Staff Association, a founder and committee member of the Marine Insurance Club and the HK Maritime Law Association. Prof. LU Chin-Shan Prof. Lu obtained his BBA, MBA in Shipping Management from National Taiwan Ocean University, then his PhD in Maritime Studies from Cardiff University (UK). He is currently Professor, Department of Logistics & Maritime Studies, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and Director of the C.Y. Tung International Centre for Maritime Studies (ICMS). He is also Chairman of the Chinese Maritime Research Institute (Taiwan), Independent Director of Kuang Ming Shipping Corp., and Associate Editor of Maritime Policy & Management. Prof. Lu has previously served as Professor at the National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan for courses in Shipping Operations and Management, Port Operations and Management, Global Logistics and Supply Chain Management, etc. Mr. CHEUNG Shun Man (Manson) Manson is a Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators, The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers and an Accredited Mediator of HKIAC. Manson has the experience in different sectors of Shipping. He has sea going experience,working experience as Port Agent, Charterers, Ship Manager (chemical tankers, tweendeckers, loggers and bulkers), Chartering and SNP Broker. From 1992 onwards, Manson has been the evening tutors/instructors for different courses in Ship Management, COGSA, Chartering, Bills of Lading and dispute resolution conducted by The Hong Kong Polytechnic, Hong Kong Shippers Council, Institute of Sea Transport/City University of Hong Kong (SCOPE), The Hong Kong Baptist University and The University of Hong Kong (SPACE).

5 Mr. WONG Cho Hor Mr. Wong Cho Hor is a Logistics & Projects Consultant and Director of Five Oceans Maritime. He read Economics & International Relations at University College London. He began his career in 1973 and has experience in the full range of maritime practice, on corporate, ship acquisition, financing, ship-management (shipbuilding & Repairs, Technical & Maintenance, Marine Insurance, Chartering, Operations & Agency, Legal & Disputes) and project financing (Harbour and other infrastructures). He served as a Director of the Charterers P&I Club. He is currently an Executive Committee member of the Hong Kong Logistics Management Staff Association. He was appointed Sector Specialist for Transport & Logistics by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic Qualifications until 31 December Dr. YIP Tsz Leung TL Yip is currently the Deputy Director of the C.Y. Tung International Centre for Maritime Studies (ICMS), the Programme Leader of BBA in International Shipping and Transport Logistics, and Associate Professor, Department of Logistics and Maritime Studies, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). He is a specialist marine traffic engineer and a chartered mechanical engineer in Hong Kong and the United Kingdom. Before joining PolyU, he was the Principal / Senior Marine Engineer, BMT Asia Pacific ( ). He has been teaching the shipbroking subjects in PolyU. His research interests include fluid mechanics, hydrodynamics, maritime safety, marine traffic, maritime economics, shipping finance, port management, and low carbon logistics. He has published more than 50 papers in peer-reviewed journals.
