Officers and other directors are listed below, along with their assigned duties, contact information and their assigned ZIP Code areas of geographical membership responsibility:

3 Associate Director, Corporate Contact, Event Coordinator Dennis Malcolm Lafayette, LA Phone: President's Message by: Joe Farrell, LaMs President As I begin my second year as the Chapter President, it behooves me to look back from this time last year and try to measure our progress. Directors: In October 2014 we had seven directors, we now have four. Our long-time President, Dick Bristol, died and our two directors in Lacombe and Thibodaux resigned for personal reasons. We are fortunate that three members stepped up to become Associate Directors; one each in Jackson, DeRidder and Lafayette. They are a godsend and have already taken on assignments that will help us provide services to our membership. I believe our seasoned directors will provide guidance and leadership to help these new volunteers. Two of us have been doing this for 27 years. Last year I asked for volunteers, we still need more, especially in the New Orleans and Mississippi Gulf Coast areas. Club Contact: During last fiscal year we attempted many club and individual member contacts through various paths. Those efforts were generally unsuccessful. Our free webinar offerings were ignored, our offers of assistance to new and experienced clubs and individuals were mostly ignored and our other online meetings were unattended. Even this newsletter, a free information piece received low penetration.
4 We realize that BetterInvesting is providing first class information at the national level but we continue to believe that hands-on training and information from local volunteers has value. Membership: Member growth and shrinkage seems to follow the stock market to a certain extent. It is not terribly surprising that new member growth has been sluggish while existing member departures have accelerated, the market has been essentially sideways and employment and wages growth is practically non-existent. Those that have previously experienced these issues know that they do pass with time and the investments made during hard times tend to pay off famously. Dollar cost averaging is a big piece of what we do and it does work. Visit-A-Club, a replacement program for Find-A-Club, should be able to help your club grow if you sign-up. One of my clubs is in the program (11 members) and the other will consider it next month (21 members). If you have club members that are not BetterInvesting members they are missing the boat and are depending on you to do their work for them. Every club member should have their own BI Magazine to read and be able to use SSG+ or Toolkit 6. Encourage the non-participants when the annual renewal page comes around in the next few months. Ours arrived this week. As you will see in the balance of the newsletter we are moving forward to make this a good year for the Louisiana/Mississippi Chapter and its membership. Meet an Associate Director
5 M. Kaye Clingan from Ridgeland,MS, joined the BI LaMs Board of Directors as an Associate Director on July 25, Her volunteering for the position led to an immediate appointment which will run until she becomes eligible for election to a full director role at the chapter's next Annual Election Meeting in July Kaye, as she is better known, works as a Professional Services Consultant for a leading supplier of automation technology to the convenience store and retail petroleum industry. The company is based in Arlington, Texas. Kaye specializes in accounting software. She travels around the country installing and training users on the software that the company sells. One of her Fun Facts is that she has visited all 50 states except Montana and North Dakota. Ms. Clingan has a Bachelors and Masters degree in Accounting from Mississippi State University. She is from Jackson, Mississippi, currently lives in Ridgeland, MS and has also previously resided in Hattiesburg, MS and in Elgin, IL. Kaye is not married and has no children. Kaye is a member of Dollar A Day Investment Club, which she joined when she returned to Mississippi from Illinois in As of 2015 she is also a member of a second club, the Everyday Investment Club. Given her background and talents, current directors feel she will be an asset where and when auditing is required, as well as with budget and financial matters, plus other chapter activities. Welcome aboard Kaye! SWLA Stock Round-Up A Success Story (Click on pictures to enlarge) Coffee Break & Individual Chats. Victor (l) and Nell Perry (r), DeRidder, La in the foreground. 6 LaMs SWLA Director Lawrence LaMs Pres. Joe Farrell (standing) Adams (r) emphasizes a point. shows an analysis tool he utilizes After a three-to-four year drought of passive inactivity and very limited attendance and participation at live and webinar events, renewed member interest in the SWLA Stock Round- Ip held in Crowley, LA, on 8/8/15, was a much needed shot-in-the-arm for the LaMs Chapter. Twenty four members and guest from Abbeville, Crowley, DeRidder, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Morse, Slidell and Zachary, plus Jackson, MS and Falls Church, VA, attended and left written comments such as: "Wonderful job. Well organized & generated great enthusiasm."; "Well organized, good information and participation"; "Loved The Interaction With Other Investors"; "Very informative"; "Very informative. Presenters were knowledge, well prepared content highly relative to my needs as a BI member"; "Great program and speakers"; "Wonderful and knowledgeable presenters"; "Great informational meeting"; "I learned a lot and had a lot of fun"; "++++" "This was a very informative meeting. I learned a lot today. It was certainly worth my time. This was a fantastic meeting. I learned so much! Thank you!"; "Helpful information" Angela Lannen (standing), Dollars & Sense Club of DeRidder, LA, addresses club operations. BIVAB's Irina Clements shares BetterInvesting information and how to estimate future P/Es.

Volunteers, namely Dennis Malcolm and Angela Lannen, stepping up to the plate and undertaking leadership roles is what made the SWLA Stock Round-Up the success it was. Want a live event in your locale? Are you and at least a couple of others willing to help plan and stage an event? If yes, contact one of the directors listed in the first article of this edition for inquiries and assistance. Club of the Quarter Dollars & Sense Club, DeRidder, LA (Editor's Note: Click on photo to enlarge.)
8 Dollars and Sense Club of DeRidder was launched in 1983 by 15 ladies, and has maintained that level of membership ever since. The club s success is attributable to assuring that new members understand the participation and duties involved. Several of those who chartered the club are still members. Over the years, most members have attended at least one Better Investing conference and many workshops. The early members still remember the days of manual calculations and charting, without the aid of computers. Each monthly meeting begins with lunch, hosted by members in rotation. Every member is assigned a stock owned by the club to follow. This involves preparing a Stock Selection Guide monthly and reporting on the latest key ratios. Any news on the stock is also reported by the assigned member. Each month, the stock selection committee recommends stocks to buy or sell. Members serve on the stock selection committee for three months, rotating in alphabetical order. Stock Selection Guides are prepared by the committee to justify their recommendations. The club portfolio is currently valued at approximately $900,000.
9 Tip of the Quarter by: Angela Lannen LaMs Associate Director Many hands make light the work! Every Dollars and Sense Club member is assigned a stock owned by the club to follow. This involves preparing a Stock Selection Guide monthly and reporting on the latest key ratios. Any news on the stock is also reported by the assigned member. As each member gives their stock report, information is posted by the other members as shown on the attached spreadsheet. Angela s sheet for LKQ shows the name, ticker and assigned member and back-up. She reports on the latest price, whether it is buy, hold, or sell. Finally, she gives key ratios from the back of the Stock Selection guide. Together, the club can see how each stock is tracking, and hear news they might have missed, forming an opinion on whether the stock remains viable for the club. If you would like a copy of the Excel spreadsheet for use by your club, Angela at (Editor's Note: Click on Excel spreadsheet to enlarge.)

11 "Helping others to become 'Better Investors' is in itself a reward, as is the association with other investors (we encourage each other as we work together for a common cause)." "Helping others learn to invest also makes you more confident in your ability to find good companies selling at a fair price." "I would never invest in a company without first completing an SSG!" Such was the wisdom and words of a dear friend to BI LaMs members across Mississippi and southern Louisiana. We knew him as "Dick" but his name was Richard Blaise Bristol and he passed away at the age of 77, on Saturday, July 11, 2015 surrounded by his loved ones - Mary, his wife of 54 years, two sons and daughter-in-laws and five grandchildren. He was laid to rest on July 18, 2015 following services at his beloved First Baptist Church of Biloxi, MS, where he was a Deacon and Teacher. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force where he served as an Electronic Warfare Officer. The BetterInvesting community will remember Dick best for the many investment classes he taught throughout the LaMs Chapter for some 20 years. He would drive several hours and hundreds of miles from Biloxi to the western end of Louisiana or the northern reaches of Mississippi and locations in-between to share his knowledge with others. Dick learned how to complete an SSG the old-fashioned way with graph paper, ruler and pencil and was at the forefront of the newest technological SSG analysis tools as they were developed and introduced, using and teaching Toolkit software and the online SSGs. When others complained about service and technology changes at BI, he accepted them as new challenges to
12 be met and mastered. Additionally, he served tenures as LaMs President, Vice President, Treasurer and even filled in as Secretary when necessary. He frequently had suggestions and new offerings to keep the chapter alive and relevant. If there was an event going on somewhere he would be there. We miss him.
