3 Speakers Stephen M. Clayton Senior Economic Education Specialist Clayton joined the economic education unit of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas in August One of his primary responsibilities is researching and developing technology-driven resources to enhance understanding of economics and personal finance. His particular focus is the secondary classroom. Prior to joining the Bank, he was a financial advisor with Edward Jones Investments in Carrollton, Texas. Clayton has a BA from Austin College with a focus on economics, philosophy and mathematics and has done postgraduate work in economics at the University of North Texas. Melissa LoPalo Research Analyst LoPalo serves as a research analyst in the regional group of the Research Department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. She joined the Bank in June Her work has focused on the Texas labor market and immigration. LoPalo received her BA in mathematical economic analysis from Rice University and will begin a PhD program in economics this fall at the University of Texas at Austin. Anne Macy Gene Edwards Professor of Finance West Texas A&M University Macy is the Gene Edwards Professor of Finance at West Texas A&M University at Canyon. She is the director of the Student-Managed Investment Fund, a stock portfolio of funds that the finance students manage. It is one of the largest sources of scholarship funds for the College of Business. Macy also is an adjunct professor for the Pacific Coast Bank School hosted by the University of Washington. She has published over 25 research articles and cases, including in the Journal of Economics and Economic Education Research, Southwestern Economic Review and Journal of Finance Case Research. She is the secretary-treasurer of the Southwestern Society of Economists. Macy has a bachelor s degree in economics from the University of South Dakota and a master s degree and PhD in economics from Texas Tech University. Kenneth J. Robinson Assistant Vice President Robinson is an assistant vice president in the Financial Industry Studies Department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. His current research focuses on how financial structure, monetary policy and economic activity affect U.S. financial markets. He has published articles in several academic journals, including the Journal of International Money and Finance, Journal of Financial Services Research and Journal of Macroeconomics, as well as in Dallas Fed publications. Robinson is a member of the American Economic Association. He holds a BS from the University of New Orleans, an MS from Louisiana State University and a PhD from Ohio State University. Jason L. Saving Senior Research Economist and Advisor Saving is a senior research economist and advisor at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. In this position, he conducts research on public policy issues. Saving joined the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas in 1996, following a one-year postdoctoral fellowship at George Mason University s Center for Study of Public Choice. Saving is the author of articles on European economic integration, American welfare policy, Social Security and other policy issues. His articles have appeared in such journals as Economic Inquiry, Southern Economic Journal, Public Choice and Southwest Economy. He is a member of the American Economic Association and the Public Choice Society. He holds a BA in mathematical economic analysis from Rice University and an MA and PhD in economics from the California Institute of Technology. Marah Short Senior Staff Researcher James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy Rice University Marah Short is the senior staff researcher in health economics for the James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy at Rice University. She has conducted research for projects funded by the National Institutes of Health, the American Cancer Society and the Cancer Prevention Research Institute

4 of Texas. Other research projects have been published as Baker Institute policy reports and in the Annals of Surgical Oncology. Short also works with the Baker Institute s Health Policy Forum, which regularly publishes studies and hosts workshops, seminars and lectures on topics including national health care reform, achieving efficient and high-quality health care, health insurance coverage and the socioeconomic determinants of health. Short received a BS in economics from Texas A&M University and an MA in economics from the University of Houston. Edward C. Skelton Business Economist Skelton is a business economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. His primary analysis concerns the economies of Latin America, with a focus on the banking industry and the financial system. This work supports the Federal Reserve Bank s supervision of foreign banks with offices in the United States. Skelton has appeared on National Public Radio, and his work has been cited in the Wall Street Journal, BusinessWeek, Newsweek, specialized industry publications, academic studies, as well as in prominent daily newspapers in the U.S., Mexico, Brazil and other Latin American countries. Skelton is also very active in the Federal Reserve s economic education program. He is an adjunct professor of economics at Southern Methodist University, where he has received numerous awards for teaching excellence. Skelton received a BBA in economics from Baylor University and an MA in economics from Southern Methodist University. Bernard L. Weinstein Associate Director, Maguire Energy Institute Adjunct Professor of Business Economics, Cox School of Business Southern Methodist University Weinstein is an economist and associate director of Southern Methodist University s Maguire Energy Institute. He is the author or coauthor of numerous books, monographs and articles on economic development, public policy and taxation. His expertise has been used on these and energy-related issues in articles published by the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times and many regional newspapers and magazines. Weinstein holds an MA and a PhD in economics from Columbia University. Princeton Williams Economic Education Program Coordinator Williams joined the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas in He develops and delivers a wide range of professional development presentations for educators and other audiences throughout the Eleventh Federal Reserve District. He has served as the content editor for three publications in the Everyday Economics series and has developed classroom lessons on economics and personal finance. He was a subject matter expert for content development of the Dallas Fed s permanent exhibit, The Economy in Action, and is currently developing collateral materials related to the exhibit. Working with the Dallas Historical Society, Williams curated a temporary exhibit, An Argument for Dallas, which describes the selection of Dallas as the location of a Federal Reserve Bank. As part of the Federal Reserve System s economic education group, he is cochair of the professional development committee. Before joining the Bank, he taught economics at R.L. Paschal High School in Fort Worth. As lead teacher for AP economics for Fort Worth ISD, Williams coauthored the district s economics curriculum and mentored new economics teachers. He received a BBA from Southern Methodist University and an MA in economics from the University of Texas at Arlington. Mark A. Wynne Vice President, Associate Director of Research Director of the Globalization and Monetary Policy Institute Wynne is a vice president and associate director of research at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. He is also director of the Bank s Globalization and Monetary Policy Institute, where he is responsible for developing and leading the Bank s research program on globalization and understanding its implications for the conduct of U.S. monetary policy. Wynne joined the Dallas Fed in 1989, and his duties have included briefing the Bank s president on national and international economic conditions prior to meetings of the Federal Open Market Committee, providing updates on key economic issues to the Bank s board of directors and conducting research on the effects of fiscal policy, understanding business cycles, inflation measurement and the workings of monetary unions, among other topics. His research has appeared in leading academic journals and Federal Reserve publications. Wynne has taught at University College Dublin, the University of Rochester and Southern Methodist University and has also served as a faculty member for the American Bankers Association Stonier Graduate School of Banking. He has a BA and MA from the National University of Ireland University College, Dublin, and an MA and PhD in economics from the University of Rochester. Joshua Zorsky Financial Industry Analyst Zorsky joined the Financial Industry Studies Department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas in His responsibilities include monitoring banking/financial markets, writing briefs on current financial market developments and maintaining relationships with asset management firms, broker-dealers and market economists. Before coming to the Dallas Fed, he cofounded an asset management firm that traded in public equity, derivative and currency markets. Zorsky received his BA in economics from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and his MA in economics from Southern Methodist University.
