4 Briefing Leaders/Speakers Dr. Fereidun Fesharaki Chairman, FGE Group Dr. Fesharaki s work is well-recognized worldwide for pioneering oil and gas market analysis and studies of the Asia Pacific/Middle East energy markets since the early 1980s. In the late 1970s, he attended the OPEC Ministerial Conferences in his capacity as Energy Adviser to the Prime Minister of Iran. He joined the East-West Center in 1979 and was a Senior Fellow leading energy-related research until end In 1989, Dr. Fesharaki was elected a member of the Council on Foreign Relations in New York. Since 1991, he has been a member of the International Advisory Board of JX Holdings Japan s largest oil company. Dr. Fesharaki was the 1993 President of the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE). In 1995, Dr. Fesharaki was elected a Senior Fellow of the U.S. Association for Energy Economics and in 2002, he was appointed a Senior Associate of the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington, D.C. In 2008, Dr. Fesharaki was appointed to the National Petroleum Council. Since 2009, he has been a member of the Dubai Mercantile Exchange Limited (DME) Board of Directors. He received the Outstanding Contributions to the IAEE Award in In 2013, he joined the Advisory Board of VOPAK LNG, and most recently he was appointed as Honorary Advisor by CNPC Economics and Technology Research Institute. Dr. Jeff Brown President Dr. Jeff Brown, as President, leads FGE s oil and gas consulting teams. He is based at our Asian headquarters in Singapore, working closely with FGE consultants in Europe, the Middle East, and North America. Jeff rejoined FGE after three years at JP Morgan where he was Executive Director, Global Commodities Research. He was a regular featured speaker at JP Morgan events and published widely on energy markets. Aside from his previous management roles with FGE, Jeff also served as Senior Oil Analyst at the International Energy Agency in Paris, where he was co-author of the highly regarded monthly Oil Market Report. During this time, he developed the IEA s short- to mid-term forecasting framework and led research examining oil/gas interfuel substitution. Before the IEA, he was a Research Fellow at the East-West Center in Honolulu where his primary emphasis was LNG Markets East of Suez. Mr. Mark Lewis Group Vice Chairman and Managing Director, FGE London Mark Lewis is a Business Studies graduate with over 30 years of oil and energy consulting experience. He spent over 15 years with Petroleum Economics Ltd, where he rose to become joint Managing Director, before co-founding EMC-Energy Market Consultants (UK) Ltd (now FGE London). Over the years Mark has consulted with a wide range of clients including majors, US multinationals, European ex-state companies and producer NOCs. At FGE London, Mark has overall responsibility for company operations, presenting at conferences and client seminars, as well as overseeing FGE London s short and long-term oil market and industry coverage. Dr. Kang Wu Vice Chairman, Asia and Managing Director, FGE China Dr. Kang Wu has a PhD in Economics. He is an energy economist and conducts studies on energy policy, security, demand, supply, trade, as well as oil and gas market developments in Asia. Kang is an energy expert on China and is familiar with downstream oil sector issues in the Asia-Pacific region. He is the author and co-author of numerous publications and is a regular speaker at energy conference. Dr. Wu served as Visiting Fellow, Fellow, and Senior Fellow at the East-West Center in Honolulu, Hawaii for many years. Dr. Wu was made Executive Director for Asia Operations in early 2013.
