We are going to get into the nitty gritty details to help you find the money you need to live the self-reliant life you ve always wanted. Let s face it, it costs money to get things set up on your little homestead. Here s what you ll learn about the challenge of not having enough MONEY: What the living with a lack mentality does to you. How to prioritize your self-reliant goals and give them a realistic price tag. The dreaded B word. The difference between frugal and cheap, and when to choose one over the other. 10 painless ways you can free up extra money in your budget.

3 Do you have a lack mentality? I first learned about this principle from Steven Covey in the book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. A person who lives trapped in lack mindset lives in a - world of never having enough money, time, connections, attention, rest, health, or happiness. We all know people like this they live their life with the glass half empty, always for enough and never finding it. A few questions to ask yourself 1. Does your need for money or opportunity cause you to be, make you to make a mistake, and shut down your? 2. When you are faced with a decision, is it difficult to see the and? 3. Even if you are successful, do you feel the pressure to more, more, or more, than you are right now? 4. Does your life feel like a constant with little potential for winning?

4 How can you overcome it? is the first step Pay attention to your lack influences become aware of what TV you watch, what you read, and who you hang out with use positive material to help uplift yourself Seek the possibility in the, instead of seeing an as a dead end. 5 Prioritize with a realistic Price tag Take time right now to review the skills you needed for your perfect self-reliant day. Those could have been things like : Learning to keep chickens, make bread, make your own yogurt, or growing more food for the family. What is that one skill you wanted to master for a quick win? What do you need to make homemade yogurt? You can use plain yogurt from the store for starter culture. Cost $2 Milk $3 per gallon A crockpot. Look at YouTube, check out a book from the library, ask in the Rootsy forum. (I would do all three!) Now that you ve freed up some money, what will you do with an extra $15 a month?

10 The difference between frugal and cheap and when to choose. Have you ever purchased something at the discount store because it was a good deal and then have it break a week later? Sometimes it s hard to tell if that good deal will actually cost you in the long run. How to Choose Buying cheap for items like bicycles, cars, appliances, or generators is never a good idea. The cost of will outweigh any you may have gained at the beginning. What about a $10 dehydrator at a garage sale? It s a better choice. That $10 investment will probably last you years

11 10 painless ways to free up extra money in your budget Sell unused items: garage sale, Craig s list. Barter labor with a friend/neighbor. Barter food in trade. Shop cooperatively for items in bulk. Have no spend weeks or month. Reuse everything you can think of. Re-evaluate bills every month. Stay home instead of spending. Find a side gig have eggs to sell?
