1 THE LEFTWICH HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION BULLETIN February LHA Reunion and Annual Meeting 2018 LHA Reunion and An Annual LHA REUNION and AGM in Williamsburg & Yorktown, Virginia October 12-14, 2018 Accommodations and activities at the Holiday Inn and Suites in Williamsburg, Va. Come early and/or stay later for the special LHA rates available Wednesday through Sunday nights, and add a visit to Williamsburg to your travel plans (not part of this year s LHA events). Friday, 12th Special speaker is Randolph Flood, the Founding Director and First Executive Director of the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown. Socialize as long as you want with your family and autograph your place on the family wall tree - take a picture with cousins in your line so we can post there. Saturday, 13th Visit Yorktown and tour the American Revolution Museum, social box lunch event, and an evening with American Revolution Reenactors. InformaBon is included about country stores, churches, schools, post offices, deed transfers, and sales of property. Significant to the Le>wich family include informabon about Mt. Airy, the ancestral home of Col. Thomas Le>wich, and other communibes and families connected to the Le>wich family, including the Thurmons, Moormans, Saunders, and Goggins. The index gives mulbple references to the surname Le>wich, and includes military service for many of the Le>wich men. If you can trace your Le>wich ancestor to Bedford County, Greenstone makes a

Throughout the book are numerous black and white photographs of the exterior, and interior of the homes such as Sunnyside, Walnut Hill, Boxwood, Mt. Airy and Lockwood along with furnishings, painbngs and significant architectural features in some of the homes. Photos of log cabins and houses built by the family mark the importance of the Le>wiches as one of the first families to sevle in Bedford County. Who was Rachel Parson Flynn Bishop ( ) researcher, historian and author of Greenstone and Le8wich History Collec<bles? Rachel, the 5 th great granddaughter of AugusBne Le>wich Sr., had a profound interest in researching and collecbng informabon about people and places relabng to history of Southern Bedford County. Most importantly, she shared her informabon through publicabons of books related to many of her family lines. The Le>wich family should be indebted to her for passing along valuable informabon that could have easily been lost or forgoven. These are wonderful books to add to your Le>wich genealogy library and they give a great deal of insight to the early Le>wich family in Bedford County, VA.
