3 BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH This collection is composed of materials from the FitzGerald, Kelley, Montgomery, Waller, and Robb families from Posey County Indiana. These families are related through marriage and have roots in Southern Indiana, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Kentucky, and Oregon. The FitzGerald family patriarch was Jay Emmett FitzGerald, born in He married Mary Kelley, also born in 1879, in September Together they had at least two children: Alice Watson and Mary Emmett. Mary Kelley was the daughter of Mary Alice Robb and Francis Hart Kelley. The Kelley family patriarch was John Kelley, born in He served as a private in the Revolutionary War for eight months beginning in 1777, and served in a regiment under Captain John Montgomery and Colonel George Rogers Clark. Kelley married Ann Templeton in Together they had eight children: John, Joseph, Thomas, Robert, Nancy, Minerva, Elizabeth, and Sallie. The Montgomery family patriarch was Hugh Montgomery, Sr., born in He served in the Revolutionary War for three years. His wife is unknown, but they had ten children: Hugh Jr., Robert, Joseph, William, Mary, Martha, Jane, John, Samuel, and Thomas. John Waller Robb was the patriarch of the Waller-Robb Family. Robb was born in 1816 and married Mary "Polly" Montgomery in John Waller Robb's father, John Thomas Robb, immigrated to the United States from Ireland and his mother, Lydia Waller, was of Scottish descent. They married in 1795 and in 1808 they moved to the territory of Indiana. They had eleven children: Lanora, America Montgomery, Eliza Jane, Lorra Ellen, Mary Alice, John Edward, Minerva Angeline, Leroy Thomas, Ida Paralee, James Felix Aaron, and William Preston. 4 SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE This collection is divided into series by family. The items in each series are arranged chronologically. Much of this collection pertains to the genealogy of the family members, including information discovered and imported into Ancestry.com for descendents. Series 1 pertains to the FitzGerald Family, which includes family items such as a DAR application, a wedding book, and a baptismal certificate. This series also includes sketches and images of Mary Kelly FitzGerald and Jay Emmett FitzGerald. Mary FitzGerald Koza's personal papers are predominantly featured, which includes employment and health records, a land deed, and a chart of ancestors. Series 2 pertains to the Kelley Family, which includes military service records and funeral arrangement information. This series also includes biographical and descendent information for John Kelley. Series 3 pertains to the Montgomery Family. This series is relatively small and includes one folder of biographical information on Hugh Montgomery's life. Series 4 pertains to the Waller-Robb Families and includes correspondence and biographical information on John Waller Robb. Also included is information on John Waller Robb's descendants. This series also has photograph albums of family members, most of which are unidentified. Series 5 pertains to miscellaneous items that are not attributed to any one particular family. This series includes digitized genealogical images and information on the families that was uploaded to Ancestry.com.
