WHĀNAU ARE FUNDAMENTAL
The Blueprint Central to our understanding of who we are as Māori and our relationship with the world around us are Atua Māori, our past present and future is written for us in their life stories and we are guided by their example.
Continued... Our cosmological origins provide a Māori world view of how things would have been in our universe according to our ancestors. Our Atua wahine our Goddesses within our Māori pantheon. For it is they that have moulded the generations of time and it is they who have sown the seeds within our heavens and heroines from the beginning of time.
Stages of Creation Te Kore; energy, potential, the void nothingness. Te Po; form, the dark, the night. Te Ao-marama; emergence, light and reality, dwelling place of humans.
Void -Night -Light Ko Te Kore(the void, energy, nothingness, potential) Te Kore-te-whiwhia(the void in which nothing is possessed) Te Kore-te-rawea(the void in which nothing is felt) Te Kore-i-ai(the void with nothing in union) Te Kore-te-wiwia(the space without boundaries) Na Te KoreTe Po (from the void the night) Te Po-nui (the great night) Te Po-roa(the long night) Te Po-uriuri(the deep night) Te Po-kerekere(the intense night) Te Po-tiwhatiwha(the dark night) Te Po-te-kitea(the night in which nothing is seen) Te Po-tangotango(the intensely dark night) Te Po-whawha(the night of feeling) Te Po-namunamu-ki-taiao(the night of seeking the passage to the world) Te Po-tahuri-atu(the night of restless turning) Te Po-tahuri-mai-ki-taiao(the night of turning towards the revealed world) Ki te Whai-ao(to the glimmer of dawn) Ki te Ao-marama(to the bright light of day) Tihei mauri-ora (there is life)
Papa and Rangi The was a time when I was as one with Rangi between there were our many children Our children needed light and space to grow so our children set us apart causing ranginui the father and me papatuanuku the mother great anguish Such was our suffering that our children turned me away from Rangi so we that we could not see one anothers pain The Separation
The Children It was Tane who succeeded in thrusting us apart and it was Tane who later formed from red earth, a new life shape It was Tawhirimatea who raged in jealousy against Tane and Tangaroa I hid Haumietiketike and Rongomatane away to keep them safe While Tangaroa drew his children to him to shelter them Tumatauenga strongest of all our offspring withstood Tawhiri s onslaught and stood astride earth where he will stand forever
Tumatauengacut the sinuewswhich bound Rangi and Me causing the flow of blood which redeemed the now sacred ochre coloured clay and it was him again that assigned to me the karakia of great abundance. So now Rangi Dwells far above giving space for growth from his dwelling place he is ever witness to life and death joy and sorrow hope despair destruction invention jealousy treachery courage faith and arohaand the many earthly happenings He directs the warmth and light that nourish seeding and into the earthness that I am while I remain the nursing the parent clutching to my belly our trembling fire gifted child... RUAUMOKO Now we are set apart love has not diminished neither has sorrow but love and sorrow find expression still as my own mists of mourning sighs rise to mingle with the caressing night dew tears of Rangi
RUAUMOKO AGGREVATOR PROTECTOR
THE AGGREVATOR Becoming unwell Mental Health Issues Decompensating Diagnosed or not When services do not listen
THE PROTECTOR When his whānau are at risk When his whānau are ill-equipped to help When services are not listening When services exhaust whānau the nurturer Are we able to discern the difference
Te Ira Tangata It was Papatuanuku who kept me hidden keeping secret the hiding place of uha of mankind then when all was ready on earth for mortal beings she told Tane to form women from clay and Kurawaka. At Kurawaka Tane formed a new shape for me, assisted in this were many godly beings who shaped the different parts of me. I sneezed and therefore I lived. Tane sought a way to combine our two elements and so produced mortal life. Within my human shape I Hine Ahu One held first human life Tihei Mauri Ora.
Hine Titama Hine-nui-te-po I was their firstborn named Hine Titama the Dawn and therefore being the daughter who bound earthly night to earthly day. I later became the wife of Tane not knowing that he was my father husband and father to my children. I was bone of his bone yet... I was angry and shamed and decided that I could not continue to be wife to Tane or earthly mother to our children I left the world of light telling Tane not to follow me. I toldhim to remain with our children and to care for them in the world of light I will go to the dark world where I will prepare another life forthem where once again I can be a loving mother. I will be forever now known as Hine-nui-te-po.
The Alignment TE KORE TE PO: coming into the states of unwellness» Whanau are here» Removal of boundaries decompensating» Uncertaintly» Fear» Intensity» Numbness» Non progressive» Limbo» No time space or place
MATARIKI Matariki is a time of fallow ground. In relation to te Ao Māori it is the time when papa is spent nothing grows nothing is fertile During this time papa and or the whānau are spent they are in the realm of Hine-nui-te-po seeking solace in her embrace
The Regeneration Like papa whānau need time for regeneration They need to be given the seeds of knowledge in order to maintain their and their whānau wellness These seeds need to be planted after Matariki in the time where papa is ready to become fertile once more
