Late fee The Puna Reo is licensed from the hours of 7:00 through to 5:30pm. Any additional period outside of this is in breach of our operating license and could potentially put the Puna at risk. It is important that whanau collect their tamaiti/tamariki at the arranged time to ensure the needs of the Puna Reo, Kaiako and tamariki are being met. Whanau will be charged a late fee rate of $10 every 5 mins from the closing time of 5:30pm. A late fee will only occur if the tardiness is an ongoing occurrence and will be at the discretion of thetumuaki. The late fee charge is to be paid directly to the kaiako affected. 20 Hours free All children aged 3 and 4 years are automatically entitled to 20 FREE ECE hours. This section is covered in the Enrolment form, so be sure to complete it. There are no additional fees if your tamaiti/riki is attending the Puna Reo for 20 hours only! In the event that your tamaiti runs over the allocated 20hours it is an additional $4 per hour If you are looking to enrol your 3 or 4 year old for more than 20 hours you may also qualify for WINZ subsidy to help with you re the payment for the additional hours. WINZ Subsidies You may also be eligible for a WINZ subsidy. This is dependant on your income and the amount of hours your tamaiti is enrolled for. An application form is included in the enrolment pack. For more info, feel free to korero with the Tumuaki or Puna Reo kaimahi.
7 Non Payment of Fees Fees are to be paid 2 weeks in advance as outlined on the enrolment forms, in line with universal standard practices. Whanau members whose child care fees are more than 14 days in arrears are required to come to a written agreement with the finance department of Te Runanga o Toa Rangatira. Note: Because fees are paid in advance, 14 days in arrears effectively equates to 28 days to organise a payment arrangement. For whanau who find themselves in a situation where they are likely to fall behind in payments, please contact the Tumuaki or Kaiwhakahaere at your earliest convenience to discuss the issue. Whanau whose child-care fees are more than 90 days in arrears and who have not negotiated a written settlement for repayment of outstanding fees will be requested to withdraw from the Puna Reo. Holidays You must give the centre 2 weeks prior written notice if your child is going on holiday. This will ensure your child s position is retained and allows time to re-adjust staff levels. You have 5 days throughout the year to use at 50% off. If we are not informed then you will be charged the full fee. This 50% discount for Holiday leave does not apply to our WINZ subsidised or 20 hours free care children. Sickness and Bereavement The Tumuaki/Pouako has authority over whether your tamaiti can attend the Puna Reo if they are unwell. If your tamaiti has been unwell with a serious illness or for a long period of time, provision of a medical certificate from your doctor to verify a full recovery will need to be provided. If your tamaiti becomes ill during centre hours you will be phoned and asked to come and collect your tamaiti from the Puna. If your tamaiti is ill and unable to attend, out of consideration we would appreciate a phone call to inform us of their absence. In the event that your tamaiti is absent due to a tangi or bereavement, please inform the Puna at your earliest convenience.
8 Administering Medication Written authority is to be given at the beginning of each day, if my tamaiti/riki requires medicine. I will ensure that kaimahi receive correct details including what (name of medicine), how (method and dose), and when (time or specific symptoms/circumstances) medicine is to be given. For minor accidents or incidents kaiako/kaiawhina may elect to use products such as nonprescription preparation (arnica cream, antiseptic liquid, insect bite treatment) that is not ingested, used for the first aid treatment of minor injuries and provided by the service and kept in the first aid cabinet. Parents will be contacted immediately, if their tamaiti is involved in an accident or is unwell. The Puna Reo is closely associated and within close proximity to both Ora Toa Takapuwahia GP service and Ora Toa Health Unit, in the event that medical attention or consultation is required. However, no medication or treatment will be undertaken without written parental authorization. Be sure to read/sign this section which is also included in the Enrolment form, feel free to ask any queries necessary. Child Abuse This is to advise you that we have a zero tolerance on the subject of Child Abuse and neglect and we take the matter of child abuse and suspected child abuse very seriously. It is a requirement of the Ministry of Education that Puna Reo kaimahi are adequately trained to recognize any Child abuse or suspected child abuse of tamariki in our care and report this in accordance with the Runanga Chid abuse policy. A copy of the Child Abuse policy can be found on the wall in the main foyer of the Puna Reo Complaints Process It is expected that all whanau feel comfortable approaching kaimahi at the Puna Reo if they have any issues or concerns in relation to the care of their tamariki. Apart from whanau evenings, and whanau hui, it is expected that kaimahi will make themselves available at an appropriate time to accommodate any concerns that whanau have as outlined in our Statement of Philosophy. We are will endeavour to do our best to manage the situation at this level. However, in the event that if you would prefer to speak with the Tumuaki or Kaiwhakahaere please advise kaimahi who will ensure that this occurs. It is also a requirement that we sight and make copy of the Immunisation record for your tamaiti, this will need to be processed prior to the attendance of your tamaiti/riki at the Puna Reo. In the case that your child is not immunised your child may need to be removed from the puna if there is an outbreak of illness Responsibilities and Commitment of whanau As outlined in our Statement of Philosophy we will endeavour include, inform and encourage whanau involvement in all aspects of the Puna Reo where applicable. We expect whanau to take an active role in the interest of the Puna Reo Curriculum and Programme delivery and all other activities that their tamariki participate in within the Puna. We encourage whanau to build a mutually beneficial relationship with the primary kaiawhina/ kaiako as we think this will enhance the learning environment of all involved. We will advise whanau of all whanau evenings, whanau hui, planned offsite visits and marae visits to allow the opportunity for further tautoko and involvement from whanau. We would also appreciate any information in regards to your tamaiti and their interests, abilities and skills so that we can focus on and nurture these strengths.
