IELTS Identification As stated in the Notice to Candidates from your IELTS online application, you must have the ID you registered with on the day of your test no exceptions: - The physical, valid passport you registered with. No photocopies. - The physical, valid Permanent Resident Card you registered with. No photocopies. If you have sent your ID away, renewed your ID, lost your ID, or if your ID is invalid or expired, you will not be allowed to take the test, and we will not offer to refund or transfer your test date! It is your responsibility to have your ID on the day of your test! Under no circumstances do we accept any other forms of ID. Make sure you are attending your examination with your ID in hand, or you will not be able to take the test! Should I send my passport to my embassy before my test? They say it will be back before my test No. We absolutely do not recommend doing this! If your passport is not returned to you in time for your test (which happens very often!), we will not be able to offer you a refund or a new test date. Once you have booked an IELTS test, hold on to your passport! Can I change my ID? I ve got a new passport since registering. No. You must use the ID that was approved on your application.
IELTS Security IELTS has instated advanced security measures to ensure the privacy and protection of our candidates. These measures consist of having a digital photo taken and your finger scan digitally registered during Check-In for your test. Identity Verification on Test Day Your photograph and finger scan must be registered at the time of Check-In. Friday Speaking Test: If your speaking test is scheduled for Friday, your photograph and finger scan will be taken just prior to your speaking test. Saturday Speaking Test: If your speaking test is schedule for Saturday, your photograph and finger scan will be taken Saturday morning. Please arrive at 7:40AM on the morning of your test. If you have any concerns over how your information is used, please contact the center in writing before the day of your test as it is required that you complete these procedures in order to be admitted into your IELTS test. I already did an IELTS test. Do I need to have my photo taken again? Yes, we keep each database for every test separate. Even if you have taken an IELTS test with us before, you will need to redo your verification.
Items you are allowed to bring in the test room You must have the ID you registered with on the day of your test! Please note that staff may check these items to ensure test security. Other items are not allowed in your test room with you. These include but are not limited to: watches, mobile phones, money (paper or change), note paper, books, or food of any kind These items may be checked in to the locked storage area, but please note that IELTS assumes no responsibility for lost or stolen items. For the sake of fast registration, and for your own peace of mind, please do not bring unnecessary items to your IELTS test!

Listening/Reading Details The Listening and Reading tests are the first two tests of the day. Each test consists of forty questions. The type of questions could be: Multiple Choice, True/False, Matching, Diagram Labelling, Table Completion, Sentence Completion and Short Answer Questions The Listening test is a 30 minute listening exercise, with an additional 10 minutes to transfer your answers onto your answer paper. You must transfer your answers during the final 10 minutes of the listening section onto your answer sheet. Question books are not marked, so answers that are not transferred will not receive marks! The Reading test is 60 minutes and is comprised of 3 reading passages.
Writing Details The Writing section is the third test of the day. The Writing test takes 60 minutes to complete and is divided into 2 tasks. Task 1 must be 150 words and you should spend approximately 20 minutes completing it. Task 2 must be 250 words and you should spend approximately 40 minutes completing it. Task 2 is worth twice as many points as Task 1 in determining your Writing band score. General Training and Academic candidates will receive different styles of Writing tests. General Training Task 1: You must write a letter or personal correspondance. Academic Task 1: You must describe or summarize a graph, table or chart and explain the information in your own words. Task 2: Task 2: You must write an essay in response to a problem, opinion or argument. You must write an essay in response to a problem, opinion or argument. It must be written in a formal style.
Speaking Details The Speaking test will take place through-out the afternoon and early evening on Friday or Saturday. You must be prepared to have your speaking interview at the time given to you on that day. The Speaking test takes approximately minutes and is a 3 part, face-to-face interview with an IELTS professional. Part 1: You and the Examiner introduce yourselves. You then must talk about general questions or familiar topics. Part 2: The Examiner gives you a card which asks you to discuss a particular topic. You should speak for 1-2 minutes on the subject. Part 3: The Examiner will ask a series of questions related to the topic in Part 2. This is your chance to expand on your ideas. Can I just do one section of the test? I only need speaking No. As the IELTS test is comprised of four distinct parts that make up your complete IELTS band score, you must complete all four parts of the test whenever you take an IELTS exam. You cannot register for only the parts you require.
Receiving your Results Once you complete the test, it will be graded and your IELTS score will be assigned. This process takes 13 days, at the end of which your results are mailed to you. They should arrive a few business days after that. 13 days after your test A few days later I gave you the wrong address. How can I get my results? If we have mailed your results to an incorrect address, you will have to wait for Canada Post to return your results to us before we can re-send them. This can take anywhere between 2-9 weeks.
Enquiry on Results DEFINITION OF TERMS: Enquiry on Results- the process by which candidates ask for one or more test modules to be remarked by different Markers.
