1 What is the Open Office? Theatre Bristol Open Office Social Story You can come to an Open Office event at the Theatre Bristol Office to meet the people who work here so that: You can tell us about your artistic work We can ask you questions about it We can tell you about some of the opportunities in Bristol that might be available to you. Why? We do this because it is a great way for us to get to know artists and their work, and to tell them about opportunities and things going on in the city that might be helpful to them. When is it? Come to the Open Office ( click here to find out the next Open Office date ) between 11am and 1pm. You don't have to make an appointment. However if you find it easier to arrange a specific time to come and meet us, please us - info@theatrebristol.net. How do I get in? We hold our Open Offices at the Theatre Bristol office. When you get to outside the Theatre Bristol Office, you can ring the Theatre Bristol bell and say you're here for the Open Office. We will then unlock the door so you can push it open and come inside the building.

The office looks like this inside. Hello! When you come into the office you will meet our Artist Support Associates, who will be there to talk to you during the Open Office. These are Ella, Caroline and Karla, and you will meet one or more of them. They will be sat in the office. You may also meet

They will have come along to the Open Office just like you, to talk about their artistic work and to meet the team. They might be makers of theatre, or performers, or musicians, or producers, or a whole host of other things. You will be introduced to them. You can talk to them during the Open Office, if you want to. What actually happens? Once you ve come in you will be offered somewhere to sit in the office, like this.

We ask that you leave your name and email address so we can get in touch with you in future. You don't have to leave your email address.

4 If you would prefer to be in a quieter room, you can ask to talk to one of us in the Meeting Room, which is through another door and looks like this. If you would like to arrange this before coming in, just us - info@theatrebristol.net. You will be asked to sign in on a sign in sheet. We ask that you leave your name and address so we can get in touch with you in future. You don't have to leave your address. You will be asked if you would like a drink, we have tea, coffee and water, and we will have some biscuits if you want to eat. You don't have to have a drink or a biscuit if you don't want to. If you need to go to the toilet at any time during the Open Office ask one of us and we can show you where it is. If you have sensory difficulties and struggle with bright lights, noises, smells etc, please do let us know via and we are happy to find solutions together to accommodate your needs and make your visit a pleasant one.

5 What will we talk about? We want to get to know you better, so once you re sat down and signed in, one of the team will ask you questions: 1. What is your name? 2. Where do you live? We also want to know more about your artistic work, so someone will ask you questions about it: 1. What artistic work do you do? 2. When did you start doing your artistic work? 3. What do you enjoy about doing your artistic work? 4. Have you ever performed or presented your artistic work to an audience? What was that like? 5. What would you like to do next with your artistic work? If you don't know the answer to the question, you can say so. If you want to ask us some questions, we can answer them. The other artists might want to ask you some questions too. You might want to ask them some questions or listen to them talk about their artistic work also. If you don t feel like talking anymore, you can tell us. If you don t feel like talking, you don t have to, you can just listen to everyone else talking in the room. Please note that if you prefer to send the answers to these questions before coming in, you can send us an with the answers. We are happy to read it out loud or print out to distribute to other people. If at any time you want to stop or have your own space, you can ask. You can use the Meeting Room if you want to be on your own, or have a chat with one of the team away from everyone else in the office. You can ask if you'd like to use it at any time. What happens when it s finished? The Open Office will end at 1pm. If you would like to leave before the end, you can tell us and we will show you how to leave the building.

6 If you stay until the end of the Open Office hours, one of the team will tell you and the other artists that the Open Office is over. We'll say goodbye and you can leave the building. We might ask you if you want to come back for a meeting in future, or if you would like to talk more by or over the phone. You can decide if you would like to do this while you're in the office, or decide and arrange to later. Either way, we hope you'll keep in touch with us!
