1 Who Am I? Who are you as a reader, a writer, and a thinker?

2 Objectives How do you define your place in the world? Through a variety of 3 expressive forms, you will be defining an image of yourself that you want to project to the world. You will be placing all your cool stuff in a Google Slides presentation that you will create in your FR folder.

3 Guidelines 1. You will have 11 class periods to create your presentation. 2. You will create your own schedule as you move toward the deadline. Enter all deadlines, including conference dates and work plans, on the calendar. 3. My job will be to conference with you about your ideas and about your writing. 4. You can include any fancy extras that you so desire, but you must document all your sources on a Works Cited slide at the end of your own presentation. See me about using Google images and the rights to those. 5. You may conference with others to share ideas, etc., but all work must be your own for the slide presentation. Plot these into your schedule. 6. You should have an introductory slide and at least 9 others, for a total of 10. All content should be within this slide presentation. 7. You must complete the writing self-evaluation. You can choose from 2 others from the remaining 3 projects.

5 Hats Galore! Choose which hat you want me to wear. skeptic advice columnist I will evaluate your ethos and tell you whether or not you are making yourself clear. I ll answer any questions you might have cheerleader I ll focus on what is working well so far grammar guru I ll look for patterns of errors. coach Tell me where you are stuck, and I ll tell you the next step. professional organizer fitness instructor I ll give you some tips about how to organize. I ll look at the foundations -- the beginnings and the ends. I ll look at what s working and what isn t. Maybe you don t need all those words.

6 1 -- What are my strengths (and weaknesses) as a writer? Assess your writing so far this semester. This is to be a formal analysis, so you will have to quote yourself -- because you are your own best source! Activity: Write a 250-w0rd formal analysis, using the rubric to guide you. Prewrite by gathering info about your writing. Decide on your own categories -- strengths and weaknesses, types of strategies you use, etc. You must analyze 3 aspects of your writing. You could analyze how you use diction, figurative language, and compound sentences. Or you could analyze for strengths, weaknesses, and ways to improve. Your thesis will include all 3 items. You must produce at least one written draft with 5 specific comments from another person.

7 2 -- What is my learning style? You will be taking an expressive quiz to identify your particular intelligence. I have the handouts for this. Activity: Create an original infographic, such as a mind map, that somehow captures the results of your self-assessment. You can use the suggested websites or Google Drawings or Word Art in Slides. 8 3 -- What does my digital footprint look like? Ascertain your frequency of your social media use and the nature of that use. How connected are you? What kinds of things do you post? How do others perceive you in the digital world? Keep a record for a few days or so. Activity: Create an analytical response. You can either write another formal response, or you can devise an infographic or other graphic that defines your footprint. Make sure to make it clear enough. 9 4 -- What do I want to say to the world? Pretend that you are about to start a new career - as a blogger. What issues in the world interest you? Choose one, and create your blog entry. Activity: Create a title and your first entry (250 words). You should write in 1st person. Make your thesis clear and provide plenty of specific details. Avoid abstracts! You must include a rough draft with 5 response comments from another person. Try one of these for inspiration: Edublogs, Blogger, WordPress, LiveJournal
