MODULETTE A modular, ballet inspired dance floor that offers a customizable, safe and interactive play surface.
MODULETTE challenge brief To design an interactive toy for a co-designer in collaboration with a student partner. material 3/8 baltic birch plywood Silicone and urethane (pink and green) joints Blackboard paint Natural finish Purple paint Laser cutting was used to imprint dainty looking ballerinas on the dance floor surface.
MODULETTE sketchbook ideation & prototype development Numerous ideas were explored to find a design best suited for the co-creator. The initial sketch that inspired the Modulette. Prototyping in its beginning stages. Cardboard and foam core prototypes were made in various sizes to observe what was best suited for the client. Despite the instructions, she danced ballet on the panel cut outs.

BRAX A glove created by the seamless juxtaposition between ceramic and upcycled leather.
BRAX challenge brief To create an extension to the human body. material Ceramic Old leather purse (stripped into pieces)
BRAX sketchbook ideation & concept development Ideation began with a glove/arm extension. Upon realizing the extent of which clay can be manipulated, I decided to rework my concept based on mobility and aesthetics. Ideating a concept for the challenge brief. A fusion of old, worn and torn leather against the formed ceramic fingers. An old leather purse was stripped and woven into a glove. The leather is woven through holes on either side of each ceramic finger.

T T is a scarf that is made out of teabags. Its evocative qualities of strength, warmth and security arise from the gift of a teapot from a dear friend.
T challenge brief Using Sherry Turkle s book Evocative Objects, we were asked to pick a story that holds sentimental value to our lives and explore how it relates to us. These are the questions we considered to develop an object and poster: How does this object affect each of your five senses? How do these sensory clues make you think and feel about the object? material Circular porous teabags
T sketchbook ideation & concept development The design research included dissecting every aspect of the teapot to better understand what was evocative about it. Exploring image, concept and arbitrary related graphics. Etchings and sketches of the teapot s details. Investigating the teapot. Rediscovering the teapots significance to me.

what wonders will we work? A whimsical space where wonders of an uninhibited imagination can soar.
what wonders will we work? challenge brief Create a space with 4 walls and s set of stairs leading to the first floor. material Foam core
what wonders will we work? sketchbook ideation & concept development I was inspired by a dust devil to create a whimsical space, one where anyone could feel child-like. Light enhances the playful interior with the manipulation of the structural envelope and interior staircase. Ideating the movement I wanted to create within the space. Exploring different shapes and visualizing the effects of light. Rough sketch draft of the first floor Conceptualizing the stairs, ground and first level.
what wonders will we work? what wonders will we work? A poem by Farrah Olegario Nazareth what wonders will we work? when white walls welcome when whimsical movement whirls when wispy wicked steps wharf what wonders will we work? when watching space wonders when witty movement wayfinds when wonders of wizardry welcome what wonders will we work? when the west wind blows when wicked whistles have wings that talk when waves of light warm up when wicked waves of light, light up what wonders will we work? when wavering thoughts delight when whimsical moments are at heart when wicked wanting warps what wonders will we work? when willful ideas are a wonder when wonder turns to watch what wonders will we work? what wonders will we walk?
OLDUN An engaging 3D educational tool that helps kids visualize math.
OLDUN challenge brief Creating an object based on the investigation of a story from Sherry Turkle s Evocative Objects. material 3/16 Baltic birch Blackboard paint Acrylics (Red, green, yellow, blue) White pen Earth magnets
OLDUN sketchbook ideation & concept development In the story Knots, the student Jill had difficulty understanding math. The instructors ability to analyze her own weakness inspired me to ideate and create a visually engaging geometry tool. Above: Horizontal lines indicate the steady path of investigation; the hiccups occur when the path opens for ideation. Unraveling my thoughts about a 3 dimensional knot to develop a form. A regular hexahedron was chosen to best assist the development of understanding math, specifically the basics of geometry. Ideating the details of the joinery methods. Magnets were used for a clean, seamless finish. Below: Using the above drawing I drew my analysis based on how Carol and Jill reacted to their conversations and self thought.
OLDUN The top of the cube indicates what the cube will teach a participant. A cube is made up of surfaces that measure length, width, height. A side of the cube indicates how a participant can understand what height is. Height (measured from top to bottom). A side of the cube indicates how a participant can understand what length is. Length (the longest side of a cube). A side of the cube indicates how a participant can understand what width is. Width (the shortest side of a cube). The inside bottom panel of the cube indicates how a participant can calculate volume. A side panel of the cube displays a diagram indicating length, width and height.
