You or your partner has to be able to bring in a 3D version of that object that can stay in the art room for a month. Top 2 ideas: 2. How many times bigger do you need to make your sculpture so that it fits the size requirements? 1. What is the largest measurement that you can get from your object? 2. What size will your project be? Size Options:(1 person= 24 inches, 2 people=30 inches, 3 people= 36 inches, MAX=40) 3. Using algebra, write an equation using the largest measurement and X where X represents how many TIMES bigger you are going to build your sculpture, and also remembering your MAX size limit. (If unsure, see video Drawing 12 Solution for help) 4. Solve for X. X= 5. Round x UP to a whole or ½ number 6. Compare your answer with your partner. If you got the same answer it is probably right. Only completed sculptures can be graded INC outstanding and worthy of display. Project looks good, there are small issues, but took time to notice &/or identify. Issues do not distract from the overall sculpture. Project has mistakes which are easily identifiable and distract from the sculpture. Project is hard to identify. Sculpture is not identifiable as a monumental sculpture. Although complete, it does not meet the standard. The project is not complete. Students must see teacher to create credit recovery plan and parents are contacted. Students must finish sculpture by the last class day to pass 8 th grade art. 9 A reflection report is a response paper. It is a paper that looks back on, or reflects on, the assignment that was just completed. The paper should be one page in length and should be thoughtfully written. The paper should be written in paragraph form with a Thesis Statement (a sentence at the end of the introduction paragraph that states what the paper is going to be about). The reflection report will be scored on a combination of spelling, grammar, length, format and thoughtfulness. Your name and block should be at the top of the paper. It does not have to be typed, but if it is- it should be 12 pt. font with a total of 25 lines of writing (all heading information adds to line count). If it is handwritten it should be 30 lines. The reflection report should answer 3 of the following questions. " What did you learn during this project? " What did you enjoy about this project? " What did you not like about this project? " What would you do differently if you could do this assignment over again? " Do you suggest this project be used next year or are there any changes that should be made? Scoring Expectations- " having a Thesis Statement " using paragraphs " the paper is the correct length (papers not long enough will not be scored) " good spelling/grammar " name and period on top " written in 1 st person STEP 22: CREATE AN ARTIST STATEMENT Artists Statement needs to include the following (one per project): " All partners names (First and Last) in alphabetical order according to LAST names " Class Period " Write a paragraph (in size 16 font) including: o Define what a Monumental Sculpture is and state what your sculpture is (2 sentence) o Explain how your sculpture was created (2 sentences) o Describe your overall experience with this project (3 sentences) 9
