1 Assembling Directions Materials Needed: o First Draft o Pencil or Pen o Final Draft Templates o Color Pencils/Markers o Evaluation Rubric o Scissors, Glue, and Tape 1. Using your edited First Draft, complete the writing sections in your suitcase templates. 2. Draw and color a picture of something that you and the main character did together on your vacation in the blank rectangle above Main Attraction. 3. Cut off the dotted lines on the left side of the Shopping and Restaurants page. 4. Glue Shopping and Restaurants on top of Packing Our Suitcase, being very careful to make sure the bottom lines meet. Now, cut off the dotted lines on the top of the Shopping/Packing pages. 5. Glue the Shopping/Packing pages on top of the Flag/Vacation Plans page, being very careful to make sure the left lines meet. 6. Cut off the dotted lines on the left side and bottom of the Main Attraction page. Now, glue this last piece of the suitcase into place being very careful to make sure all of the lines meet on the top, left and right edges. 7. Cut out the small buckle and glue it horizontally in the middle of the luggage strap along the top of the suitcase. 8. Now that your suitcase is assembled, cut along the black solid lines. Be sure to save this step for last so that you have even lines along the top, bottom, and sides of the suitcase. Color your suitcase. 9. Cut out the suitcase handle and glue it behind your suitcase. Turn your suitcase over and tape the back sections to make sure that they are secure and will not fall apart. 10. Optional: Punch a hole in the circle in the name tag and put a string through it and tie it around the suitcase handle. Unique Teaching Resources All Rights Reserved Page 1
