Stage 2 Assessment Evidence Performance Tasks: (Summary in GRASPS form) (PT) G- Students task will be to critique their peer s artwork, famous works of art, and their own artwork using vocabulary covered during the unit. R- They will be asked to use basic drawing skills while focusing of the elements and principles. A- The students need to convince themselves, their peers, and their instructor that they can effectively use line in a finished work of art. S-The challenge involves dealing with line in a unique and effective composition. 3 Stage 3 Learning Plan/Daily Activities Unit Title: Shape and Form Time Frame: Week 7 Teacher: Ms. Konz, Ms. Arnold, Mr. Serrianne Monday Tuesday Wednesday Topic: Shape Vocabulary Opening: Ask the students the importance of note taking and vocabulary. Explain how understanding key terms in art will assist in each student s success in the class. (Exams, material usage etc.) Tell students who the artist of the week will be. Follow along with the teacher and complete the notes/ vocabulary worksheet. Closing: Students check off vocabulary in their shape packets and clean up their spaces. They can now reflect on the importance of the vocabulary. Topic: Matisse Article Opening: Students are asked if they enjoy the artwork created by Matisse. Read and annotate an article about interesting facts on Henri Matisse. Then they will respond to text-based questions from the article they read. Closing: Students re evaluate their interest in Matisse. Topic: Shape Techniques Opening: Students are asked to think about the two main types of shapes, organic and geometric. Draw each of the different types of shapes, visualizing their new vocabulary terms. They will also see how objects are drawn using shapes and how recognizing shapes in objects can assist in drawing realistic images. Use colored paper to cut out both geometric and organic shapes to compose a work of art. Considering variety of shapes and composition. Closing: Students will reflect on the difficulty of this process and clean up their materials. Topic: Shape Cut Out Project Opening: Students revisit the assignment from the previous class period. Discuss week s agenda: art criticism activities. Closing: Students will reflect on the completion of the shape project. Topic: Article on Shepard Fairey Opening: What is propaganda art? read an article about the artist Shepard Fairey and answer the questions that follow. Closing: What kind of propaganda art would you make? Topic: Art Critique Opening: Review the four steps of art criticism critique a work of art by artist Shepard Fairey using the four step critique method and responding to leading questions. Topic: Mini Critique and Drawing Exercise Opening: Can art be DIY? critique a work of art done by Shepard Fairey as a part of a collaborative coloring book project, protesting police brutality during the occupy wall street movement. Early Finishers can complete the drawing provided in their packets. Closing: Can art be mass produced and still be valuable? Homework: Artist of the Week Due Today

Students work in small groups to collaborate on design for a sculpture made from cardboard. Go over construction techniques: notch construction and glue.
