We will then talk about how shapes are all around us. Students will then learn what geometric shapes are and we will practice drawing and naming them. After we discuss geometric shapes, students will receive a play-dough mat with shapes on it. They will use the play dough to make the shapes. After we practice different shapes, students will see the artwork they will be creating. Before we start creating our dinosaur collages they will hear a story about a dinosaur. I will show students different dinosaurs from our story and show them how they can make them with their geometric shapes. Once students are finished we will assess our artwork using a grade appropriate rubric.
