The MacKay Centre will be placing a wreath at the Cenotaph to commemorate all those who fought. Please wear you poppies with pride. New this month is an introduction to Bid Euchre class and a new introductory class for those wishing to learn Tai Chi. Congratulations to our local artist Liz Sweitzer as she is featured as artist of the month at Elizabeth's Art Gallery. Be sure to stop by and see her exhibit. 5 The MacKay Messenger November 2018 page 5 Mackay Centre News Minds In Motion & Ageless The Alzheimer Society continues their 8 week course combining physical activity, brain health and therapeutic recreation. Minds in Motion is a community based program designed for both individuals living with early to mid stage Alzheimer's disease and their care partners. It is on Tuesdays at 10 am till Noon and will continue on Tuesdays until December 4th. Fee for the program is $20.00 pp or $40/ per couple. For more information please call or to register. Intro to bid Euchre Did you want to learn but were reluctant to try? All are welcome to take part in this informal learning session on Thursday November the 15th at 12noon. No partner required, come out and join the group as they walk you through how to play. Introductory class for Tai Chi have you ever wanted to learn the graceful moves and steps for Tai Chi? Sandra Billson will be offering a beginners course starting on Thursday November 1st. The class will take place from 2:15 3:15 pm for the next 6 months. Cost is $50.00 for the 6 month introduction and membership to the Taoist Tai Chi Society membership cards are available in the office if you would like to pick one up. Membership is still $10.00 for the year. Mindful Yoga starts on Monday November 19th downstairs from 6:00pm to 7:30 pm. Please call the Maitland Valley Clinic to register; x 506

6 It s the time of year to protect yourself from the Flu. Stop in to your local pharmacy to get your shot or attend one of these local flu clinics. Check out the Huron County Health Unit site for great information about the Flu. Here is a handy chart from that site which describes the difference between the flu and the common cold. The Ontario Society of Senior Citizen Organizations is looking for submissions from older Ontarian wishing to share their stories, memoires or photos reflecting your person view on aging and life s journeys.
