1 Welcome to the Picnic! You and your friends are about to embark on the most incredible, most unbelievable, most EPIC PICNIC ever! But what will you bring on your adventure? Cows with guns? Maybe a queefing elf? How about a twoheaded Chernobyl child? Whatever it is, stay focused, and remember what everyone else is bringing too, or you ll find yourself out of the Picnic!

2 Epic Picnic is a memory-based card game where you and your friends use cards to represent the despicable and hilarious things you re bringing on the picnic. Players alternate between playing new cards and reciting the existing cards in order, with the goal of being the last person standing. Epic Picnic has two ways to play, plus some awesome variations to keep the game fresh every time! Check out Devious- Devices.net for Epic Picnic expansions No matter how you play Epic Picnic, set-up is simple! 1. Take all the cards out of the box. 2. Set aside the 10 Prompts and the 8 In/Fail cards. 3. Shuffle the remaining cards (the Picnic deck) thoroughly and place it face-down within reach of all players. 4. Give each player an In/Fail card, which they place in front of them ( In side-up).

3 Before starting the game, you need a Picnic Master, which is just a fancy name for the person who goes first. To choose a Picnic Master, each player draws a card from the top of the Picnic deck. The person who draws the letter that comes earliest in the alphabet is the Picnic Master. The Picnic Master chooses a Prompt and places it face-up in the center of the table for all to see. They read the Prompt out loud, so that everyone has a chance to see it and hear it. Lastly, they flip the top card of the Picnic deck and place it over the Prompt, so that only the word PROMPT is showing. But they don t read that card yet that s for the next player! Classic Picnic is the original version of Epic Picnic, inspired by a game from our childhood, but corrupted with humor from our adult life! In Classic Picnic, each player recites all played cards in the progression on their turn, and then plays a new card.

4 Remember that the Picnic Master has already played a Prompt card and laid the first Picnic card over it. Play continues clockwise from there. The next player will say the Prompt from memory (since they can t see it anymore), and then read the last card played. The player finishes their turn by reaching the end of the progression and flipping a new card, covering the text of the previous card but leaving the letter visible. Each player starts back at the top, reciting the Prompt and all of the cards in the progression, and then flipping the new card when they reach the end. This way, each newly-played Letter card spends one turn visible, so that every player has the chance to see and hear it. If a player forgets a card, skips a card, or doesn t recite the cards in the right order, they FAIL! They are out of the round, and to signify this, they flip their In/Fail card to FAIL. Play continues until there is only one player left they are the winner! minutes Round-based For serious gamers and caffeine/speed addicts See a Picnic Frenzy game played online: This version of Epic Picnic plays very similarly to Classic Picnic, but on each player s turn, they recite only one card. Sounds easy, right?

5 Just like Classic Picnic, the Picnic Master lays out the Prompt and plays the first letter card, but here s where things get crazy: The next player starts the progression over by reciting the Prompt from memory, but they stop there. The next player recites the next card, and since it s the end of the progression, plays a new card (fig. A). Play continues clockwise, with each player reciting only one card on their turn until the end of the progressions is reached. The player that reaches the end then plays a new Picnic card (fig. B). Oh, and one more thing: Each player has only FIVE seconds to remember the card they re supposed to recite on their turn. (Other players may, if they wish, count loudly in their face.) Again, if any players miss, skip or forget the card they re supposed to recite, they re out and they have to flip their In/Fail card to FAIL. Last player left wins the round and gets 1 point. Play as many rounds as there are players. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins! Just a little something extra to spice up your games, should things ever get stale:

6 Hardass : For the hardcore players! You get it right or you are out every word, every letter, verbatim. Make sure you pronounce it right, or someone will have to break out the dictionary! Down, But Not Out : When a player forgets a card, they are down but not out. If an active player forgets a card and the player to their left is down, they have the opportunity to get back in the game by reciting the correct card. If they do, they earn the right to badger the dolt who missed the card! Oh, and of course they get to keep playing. Steal : If at any time a player says "I don't know" or "I can't remember" on their turn, the first play to say the missed card steals their turn, and play continues to their left like normal. The other player is still out and some players may have been skipped. Craaazy, right?! Drunken Master (Frenzy only): Is one person dominating the game with their superb memory? Knock em out of the lead with some alcohol! The winner of each round wins a full drink, which they have to chug before the next round starts. Not so high and might now, are they?
