2 Thank you for your interest in the first ever GateKrash tournament The Shrewsbury Showdown What is it? It s a 2400 point Warhammer Fantasy Battle tournament When; The tournament will be held on Saturday the 21 st and Sunday the 22 nd of October Where; The Darwin Community Center, Frankwell, Shrewsbury (You can find it on AA Maps online) Parking Frank Well Car Park is within 5 minutes walk away from the centre which is pay and display. There is a car park behind the venue which we are looking into. I m broke! How much?; If you make a booking of four or more tickets from a single club then the price becomes 20! Charity All proceeds from the tournament, as well as what you guys and gals donate throughout the weekend will be donated to Clinic 9. Clinic 9 is a local Haemoatology trust which is very close to the organiser s hearts and all donations will be greatly appreciated. What you will need to bring with you; Your painted army Dice Measuring tape This rules pack The current edition of the WHFB rules and the latest FAQ (8 th Edition) The current edition of your Army Book and the latest FAQ Pen and paper Templates (if necessary)

3 2 copies of your army list (Minimum. One for us, one for you. It s recommended you bring several, but you probably know that already) One piece of terrain Beer/Food money What you will need to arrange for yourself; Transport to and from the event, Accommodation (if necessary). There are a number of pubs and hotels in Shrewsbury, and a premier inn is located on the outskirts of town (taxis into town cost around 4.40 in the morning and during the day, and about 7 in the evening). However we have spoken to the Albion Vaults the pub we intend to fill on Saturday night who will supply single, twin and double rooms for the lovely price of 20 a night. Breakfast is not included, but you can get a full English for We are in the process of sending Ben to sweet talk Pubs around town for the best deals and will keep you updated constantly via the Warhammer Forums. An Evening meal. Lunch on both days will be provided please add on your booking form if you have any dietary requirements. The thirsty will be happy to know that there will be a bar in the venue, open from when we open in the morning until when we close. We ll be serving a selection of Beer, Cider and Soft Drinks at the handsome price of 1 a can. (Might be Depends what deals we can sort out!) Tea and Coffee will be available throughout the day free of charge, as well as cake. How the Tournament Works; Competitors will play five games over the two days. During morning registration on the first day every player will be randomly allocated a table (and therefore an opponent) via the pint glass of DOOM for the first game. For every game thereafter the Swiss Pairs ranking rules will be used whereby the first and second ranked players face each other on table one, the third and fourth face each other on table two - and so on. PLEASE DO NOT CHANGE OR MOVE THE SCENERY IN ANY WAY!!! You will be required to bring one piece of terrain. If you can bring more, please do. It probably won t be needed, but just in case, put your name on it!

4 For the first four games you may not face the same opponent twice. If this situation arises you will be assigned a new opponent slightly above or below your ranking. In the fifth and final game you must face the assigned opponent regardless of whether you have played them before. This system is used to ensure the very best player wins the tournament rather than because of the luck of the draw. The five games will follow the scenarios in the main rule book (for details see the mission details later in this rulespack) but there will be bonus victory points available in some games. For each game, an objective will be set, the winner of this objective will win a prize! In order for you to win a game, you must win by 200 points. The tournament points for a win, loss or draw are as follows; Win by Points 20-0 Win by points 18-2 Win by points 16-4 Win by Win by points 14-6 Win by Win by points 12-8 Win by points If you completely wipe out your opponent (i.e. remove every single model) Then you gain an additional 5 points. If your opponent concedes a game before its end, then you automatically gain 25 tournament points as well as full victory points for his army, all banners and bonuses for killing his general and victory conditions. Your total number of tournament points after five games will determine your overall rank, after we have added sportsmanship and pointing points. If more than one player has the same number of tournament points their overall ranking will be decided by the difference between their total number of victory points. The player with the most tournament and victory points will be crowned winner of The Shrewsbury Showdown! Schedule; Scenario details listed below. Day 1

Day am 9.45am = Hangover cures, Tea, coffee and doughnuts, 9.45am 12.00pm = Game 4 Battle Lines 12.00pm 12.45pm = Lunch, Best Army shortlist selection and army list checks 12.45pm pm = Game 5 Meeting Engagement 15.00pm pm = Afternoon Break Awards Ceremony. 6 - The Wooden Spoon - Blessed Of Khorne Award - A top secret award, codename Golden Wang Painting TBC Army Lists; You will be required to use the same army list in all of your games. The tournament will be played with 2400 point armies, please remember you can only spend up to and including 2400 points not one point more! Please remember to follow the percentage rules as per the Warhammer Rulebook. Allies may not be taken. The following items may not be taken in any army; Power Scroll Fozzrik s Folding Fortress The Book of Hoeth Neffera s Scrolls of Mighty Incantations You may only take one magic item in your army which allows you to know the whole of a magic lore (for example Daemons of Chaos may only take one Master of Sorcery) All Daemonic Gifts from Daemons of Chaos are 0-1. You may only take one magic item which will end a spell automatically (for example, you can take a Dispel Magic Scroll but no other items that would end a spell automatically, e.g. the Lizardmen Cube of Darkness). Dwarfs may take a maximum of 2. Your units may include a maximum of 30 models of Weapon Skill 4 or more and 40 for models of Weapon Skill 3 or less. Daemons of Chaos are limited to 25 models. The following units are 0-1 Abomonations, Steam Tank, Hell Cannon, Engines of the Gods (N.B. This is the only Stegadon who is 0-1), Warp Lightening Cannons, War Hydras, Flamers, Wraiths, Necrosphinx, Aracknorok and units of Iron Guts. Only the official, latest edition of the Army Books listed below may be used. If you re not sure if your army book is legal, please contact us (see below for details)

You will be required to a copy of your final army list to; benjaminmrleach@hotmail.co.uk By no later than Friday 10 th October Please ensure your name is included on your army list. Also please ensure that your army list is attached to your in a Microsoft word document or Microsoft Excel spreadsheet! I know it s a pain, we all have jobs, but we need some time to double check the lists for little errors. Your Army; All models must be painted Citadel miniatures with at least three colours. All models must be WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) meaning models must be of a correct type and all weapons, wargear and upgrades must be shown on the model (or the majority of the models in a unit.) Conversions are welcome as long as they contain a majority of Citadel or Forgeworld components and are explicitly explained to your opponent before a game. Ultimately we understand the need for conversions and good old Games Workshop don t quite supply us with everything we need, so long as it is clear (either in the model itself or you explain before the game) what the model is, all bets are off!

8 Scenarios In all scenarios, the following rules always apply; - Fleeing units count as destroyed at the end of the game. - Killing your enemy general grants you an additional 100 points. Capturing the enemy battle standard bearer gains you 50 points, and standards are worth Uber spells will only ever cause a single wound on character IF THEY ARE ELIGIBLE FOR A LOOK OUT SIR ROLL and they are within the targeted unit (Sorry everyone, no sitting your Great Unclean One next to a unit and claiming the roll. You know who you are). The Uber spells are Final Transmutation, Dwellers Below, Purple Sun of Xerxes, Pit of Shades, Infernal Gateway (on a roll of on Strength) and The Dreaded 13 th Spell - You may only generate and/or use 12 power dice in your magic phase from any source (i.e. external sources such as the Beastmen Herdstone or Power of Darkness) - Speaking of Dark Elves, you can only use a maximum 7 dice to cast a spell. This over rules the army special rules. Game One Battle For the Pass As per the main Warhammer Rulebook Game Two Blood and Glory The game will run for 6 turns. Reaching breaking point concede an additional 1000 points to his opponent rather than simply losing the game. Both players can reach their opponents breaking point and thusly score the extra points. Game Three Dawn Attack As Per the Warhammer Rulebook. Killing your enemy general is worth an additional 500 points in this scenario (In addition to their points cost and the 100 points normally given for killing the general) Banners (including the Battle Standard Bearer) are worth Zero points in this game. Game Four Battle Lines As per the Warhammer Rulebook Game Five Meeting Engagement As per the Warhammer Rulebook.

9 The field of battle; Before deployment, players should talk their opponent through their army explaining any special rules and answering any questions their opponent has about their force. (Please be aware you are not required to explain what character has what magic item, but please keep a note to prove, if necessary, the point later in the game Dispel Scrolls for example.) The players should then discuss the battlefield terrain and agree on how it will affect the game (the size of terrain pieces and difficult/impassable terrain etc etc.) Both players should then shake hands and let battle commence! You will have two hours and thirty minutes to play each game. We re not mean, we ll give you thirty and fifteen warnings although when time is called, please stop the game as soon as humanly possible. At the end of each game players should go through their army lists together, working out their victory point totals and whether they have achieved a win, loss or draw. Both players must then fill in their battle results card and sign both copies before handing them in to be processed. Please ensure the correct ticket numbers and printed names of both players are clearly written on the battle results slip. After each game the results will be collated and lists assigning the next table you will play at and the opponent you will face will be posted around the hall. Rules Disputes; If you have a dispute over the rules please refer to the WHFB rulebook and/or the relevant Army Book and FAQ s. If you are still unsure and both players are willing - please roll a dice to decide a solution. If both players are unwilling to resolve a dispute this way, please approach a tournament referee whom will adjudicate. Please remember referees are only human and can make mistakes sometime too! We re hard to miss, one of us will always be behind the bar and will be available to be asked questions, and we should have one or two others wandering the hall. However, all referee s decisions are final and no discussions will be entered into!

10 Sportsmanship; Whilst this is a competitive tournament it is also a social event and is meant to be FUN!!!! Therefore, please be courteous, abide by all normal rules and behave in a sportsmanlike manner at all times. Please do not disturb players if you finish your game early. Under no circumstances may any player offer or ask for advice from another player during a game! If you feel an opponent is breaking the rules, using an illegal army list or is behaving in an unsportsmanlike manner, please approach a tournament referee and report the incident. A referee will then check the player in question. If a referee warns you about your conduct but you persist in unsportsmanlike conduct you will be disqualified from the tournament. Each player will receive 1 sportsmanship point after each game. Had a brilliant game? Then let the ref behind the bar know, and your opponent will receive an additional point. If you had a really bad game, just grab ahold of a ref and explain why and your opponent will be docked a point.
