Carpets from the Folk collection by Agnella Weaving is inextricably connected with folk culture over the centuries almost every region and country has developed its own methods of fabric weaving and dying, its typical ornaments and patterns. It is that cultural treasure that designers from Agnella Carpet Manufacture used when creating the new collection of wool carpets inspired by folk motifs. The Agnella designers have noticed the growing interest in modern interpretations of folk motifs and they decided they needed to find a way for patterns and colours typical for folk fabrics and other hand-made artefacts to be transferred onto elegant wool carpets. In the "Folk" collection we can find inspiration with folk art from different regions of Poland: Podhale, Masovia, Podlasie, Kaszuby. The characteristic motifs of parzenica (typical for Polish highlanders), Łowicz region roosters, genre scenes from double-weave fabrics, crossstitch and straight stitch, when interpreted in a contemporary context can match not only rustic-style interiors but also very modern ones. As in the case of hand-made fabrics, the carpets from the new Agnella collection include both subdued colours, dominated by earth and natural shades and really vivid, bright and vibrant ones. Part of the Folk collection is a series of patterns created as a result of a competition called FOLKPOWER a Carpet From Inspiration To Production. A Modern Interpretation Of Polish Folk Motifs In Carpets organised for students of the Antoni Kenar Arts Schools Complex in Zakopane. Seven carpets: Baciarka, Kapela, Jedlicka, Zarnicka, Regiel, Harnaś, Akuratny, inspired by Podhale themes were created on the basis of projects prepared by talented secondary-school students. 1) Baciarka carem by Julia Trojanowska, a student of the Antoni Kenar School of Arts in Zakopane When creating this rug she was inspired by photos and pictures of old highland clothes and everyday objects characteristic for the Podhale Region such as: - Cerpok (bucket), a wooden vessel in the form of a cup for scooping of milk or cream - Kierpce, typical highland shoes - Klobuk, soft felt hat worn by men - Ciupaga, - Musical instruments, typical for Podhale in the nineteenth century. With the drawings she wanted to refer to old illustrations, so she reached for a pen to obtain completely different, clear yet light strokes that would give some character to objects that have been placed against a plain white background so as not to interfere with the reception of the picture. 100% natural undyed wool Sizes available: 133 x 190 cm; 200 x 300cm

2) Jedlicka grey By Katarzyna Staszel, a student of the Antoni Kenar School of Arts in Zakopane This rug is based on a basic highland motive, a rosette design, that is combined with natural wood structure creating a realistic image, resembling a fragment of an interior of a highland hut. The whole composition, depicted in raw, yet warm colours, is a suitable addition to any room, giving it a unique character. 100% natural undyed wool Sizes available: 133 x 190 cm; 200 x 300 cm Contemporary work:
Folk art inspiration: 3) Regiel black by Kacper Lendecki, a student of the Antoni Kenar School of Arts in Zakopane The work was inspired by the iconic mountain motif that appears almost everywhere in Podhale a rosette. The duplication and colouring of certain elements present it in a different graphic form creating a new, original design, which fits into both the traditional and the modern interior. 80% wool + 20% polyamide Sizes available: 133 x 190 cm; 200 x 300 cm
Contemporary work: Folk art inspiration:
4) Famelio black By Teresa Tomczuk, Agnella's designer The dark background of the rug calms very colourful cut-out designs, and fuzzy stripes refer to Łowicz Region striped clothes. Asymmetry makes an intriguing and clear-cutting theme, but it is definitely modern in its character. Famelio due to its strong graphic character fits best in interiors with soft colours. Despite the folk inspiration this rug will match a modern interior where it will become the focus of attention. 80% wool + 20% polyamide Sizes available: 133 x 190 cm; 200 x 300 cm Contemporary work:
Folk art inspiration:
5) Harnas cream By Hanna Urbaniak, a student of the Antoni Kenar School of Arts in Zakopane Podhale folklore has always been dear to the author s heart. She was born and raised in a highland family which for generations was associated with traditional regional music, art, and architectural woodwork. In designing this rug, she was inspired by regional motifs taken from male highland clothes, one of the most recognizable elements of highland culture. She has attempted to create a modern form, further enriched by the traditional highland design. The leading theme of the rug are geometric figures arranged so as to create multiplied highland parzenica design. 80% wool + 20% polyamide Sizes available: 133 x 190 cm; 200 x 300 cm Contemporary art:
Folk art inspiration: 5) Parzenica 2 By Dorota Banaszek, Agnella's designer This rug includes a blend of traditional, beautifully embroidered parzenica against a background resemblant in its structure of old, worn concrete, evoking the atmosphere of a loft apartment. It is an attempt to combine tradition and contemporary trends in interior design. 80% wool + 20% polyamide Sizes available: 133 x 190 cm; 200 x 300 cm
Contemporary art: Folk art inspiration:
6) Pasiak By Elżbieta Mikołajczuk, Agnella's designer A colourful, striped Łowicz rug, based on one of the most beautiful motifs in folk costumes, complemented with intricately cut-out Łowicz motifs, can be a perfect accent even in modern, contemporary surroundings 80% wool + 20% polyamide Sizes available: 133 x 190 cm; 200 x 300 cm Contemporary art:
