Waterproof and incredibly realistic, Impressive & Impressive Ultra herald a new era for laminate flooring. Quick-Step is the first to develop technology to make laminate floors waterproof, without the need for seals or additional coatings. The protective and waterproof Hydroseal finish stops water from penetrating the joints of all Impressive floors. Unlike other laminate, the joints on Impressive and Impressive Ultra are pressed into the surface structure during production. This not only helps the floor to be waterproof, but also ensures the design, colour and structure of the surface blends subtly for a more realistic look. The new technology not only makes the Impressive & Impressive Ultra more realistic than ever, but the collection is anti-static even in the joints, meaning dirt can doesn t cling and the floors are even easier to clean. The edge is no longer a single shade that closely resembles the dominant colour in the floor. Instead, thanks to completely new technology, colour variations blend into the joint, just as if it s real wood. Similarly this innovation also means the structure and wood grains of the plank blend seamlessly, not only along its length but on the short side too. So an Impressive or Impressive Ultra floor with a weathered look has a joint that undulates and shows minute cracks, just like the real thing. At 19cm wide and 138cm long, the Impressive and Impressive Ultra collection brings each design to life, with the ample length makes rooms look deeper and more inviting. The Impressive floors have a thickness of 8 mm. The 12mm thickness of the Impressive Ultra makes the floors highly durable and ensures they deliver impressive performance for maximum sound reduction.

Finishes can be matt or medium gloss, with high gloss only appearing in highlights and while light shades are still important, they are joined by warmer and richer shades. However, until now it has been beyond the wit of current techniques to imitate the structure of burnt oak authentically.

10 BURNED PLANKS BLACK IS BACK Black is back. Therefore, Quick-Step has unveiled a special black floor: a floor with the structure of burnt wood. The fact is that burnt wood has a rich structure and a deep black colour to fire the imagination. However, until now it has been beyond the wit of current techniques to imitate the structure of burnt oak authentically. Now, however, in imitating Japanese architecture, where burnt pinewood is used as exterior wall cladding to keep out vermin, amongst other things, Quick-Step has started experimenting with pinewood. Treating the wood surface with a burner and fixing it with a varnish proved to be no problem. However, scanning the structure of the planks in the customary manner proved impossible. The pinewood planks had become so soft that they broke. And so, they had to look for a different scanning technique. The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam has developed a technique for producing accurate replicas of paintings. This new technique is called reliefography, Quick-Step using a similar technique to scan the structure and gain a black floor with a unique and unprecedented structure of burnt wood.
