4 Technology Practice Brief Development Planning for Practice Outcome Development And Evaluation
5 Design Situation: Anywhere where something can be improved by designing a new product. Sometimes called the Design Problem. Design Brief: A short description of the design situation and tells you what to do in your project. Research and Analysis: The process of collecting information and facts about a subject or topic. Analysis means looking at the subject in detail. This will include a task analysis and possibly a mood board. Specification: A detailed description or list of the features the product must have. Design Ideas (Concepts): Your sketches, drawings, notes and diagrams, explain your solutions to the design brief. Design Development: Taking the best features of your first ideas and adding detail, improving them and modifying them until a final solution is reached. Making: Creating, manufacturing or producing the final product. Evaluation: This is an ongoing process of testing, checking and measuring how effective the finished product is. Comparing the product with the requirements of the specification.

8 Difference Between Hard and Soft design Clients are users not consumers A software prototype/model may become the final product.
9 Some Software Development Methodologies contain a decommissioning phase! Hardware What do you do with the e- waste? Software what do you do with the data?

14 Systems Systems are often made of subsystems, subprocedure, modules, objects, classes, black boxes A black box (A term widely used in electronics) is a component of a system that is described by its input and output often disregarding its internal workings.

20 Computer Memory Input Process Output The addition of memory to store information and instructions has lead to many modern technological systems being made up of hardware and software components.
21 Nowadays practically everything, from washing machines to supercomputers, have both hardware and software components. Descriptor for Characteristics of Technology Technology provides potential to enhance the capability of humans to transform, store, transport and control materials, energy and information.

25 UNICODE The basic principle behind Unicode is to assign each character in the world a number, called a code point. These Code points are translated into 8, 16 or 32 bit sequences. The W3 standard for HTML is 8bit Unicode.
26 Why Learn Java Free. Good general purpose language for learning. Widely used in industry. Widely used in tertiary institutes. Can get a variety of Free IDEs. BlueJ, Eclipse, GreenFoot, Netbeans.
27 The year 12 students issue is to help a science teacher explain scientific concepts. Students can chose to use templates/patterns to develop their models and solutions.
