THE NURESAFE PROPOSAL 1 BRUNO CHANARON (CEA)
Content 2 The NURESIM roadmap and objective The NURESFAE objectives Introduction to the project
Why NURESAFE? 1) NURESIM and NURISP projects created: 3 A common European SOA simulation platform for reactor simulation A living community which gathers experts from Labs, university, TSO, industry This success motivates the full completion of the NURESIM roadmap 2) Safety of LWRs is a major stake for nuclear industry LWR will constitute the main part of fleets during the 21st century NURESIM platform can provide to utilities, vendors, TSO, the best reactor software set for the needs of safety analysis
The NURESIM target 4 The NURESIM platform: State of the art, multi-physics, multiscale SOA, well validated, dealing with different physics and scales European A common European development to meet requirements from stakeholders, share tools, knowledge and best practices Integrated Platform Common functions, multiscale, multiphysics, user friendly For Simulation of Light water nuclear reactors GEN II, GEN III, GEN III+
The NURESIM roadmap 5 NURESIM: a single platform Phase 1: NURESIM Basic platform Neutronics & T/H First integration work 2012 Phase 2: NURISP Consolidation connection of many codes to SALOME Extension First multiphysics capabilities, fuel Thermomechanics Validation Phase 3: NURESAFE Further extension Fuel th-mechanics Safety analysis applications, further validation LWR GEN II, III, III+ Expanded use HPC
Content 6 The NURESIM roadmap and objective The NURESAFE objectives Introduction to the project
The NURESAFE objectives Deliver reliable SOA software for the needs of safety analysis of LWRs Extend the NURESIM platform to fuel thermo-mechanics Many acceptance criteria are relative to cladding (1st barrier). So, good modeling of fuel is key for a realistic simulation. Expand the use of the platform 7 NURISP coupling interfaces were delivered in the 3d period of the project
Deliver software for the needs of LWR safety analysis Simulation tools will be based on NURISP codes and coupling schemes recently developed within NURISP Delivery of multiphysics-multiscale integrated tools to simulate some selected «situation targets» (or accidental transients) More predictive core thermal-hydraulics models are needed Simulation tools developed within NURESAFE need to be well validated. validation process includes uncertainties quantification NURESAFE software must be users friendly 8
Extension to fuel-thermo-mechanics Simulation of irradiation of the fuel in normal operation: FRAPCON = = > Initial conditions for the accident studies Fuel behaviour during LOCA transients: DRACCAR DRACCAR was integrated in SALOME within NURISP Connexion of a platform T-H system code (CATHARE, ATHLET) must be completed in the frame of NURESAFE Fuel behaviour during other accidents: SCANAIR 9
Expand the use of the platform Individual NURESIM codes as well as integrated simulation tools developed in NURISP must be used The target is: 10 Users in the consortium (23 partners, some of them come from the former NUG) The NURESAFE users group (5 organisations already interested by the UG) In an early phase of the project, we must show demonstrations of the coupling interfaces available at the end of NURISP Bilateral licence agreement and code deliveries have to be done earlier than NURISP
