Introduction RAAK-MKB project Projectcharter Involvement industry Involvement education Projectresults of the 3 subprojects: Smart Parking Smart Vision Smart Workload Dissemination Room and possibilities for follow-up 2
Problem definition: - At 2040 the population will be grown with 10% to 18 million people where the avarage age will increase because of ageing and dereliction of the population. - Elderly people want to play an active role in society at a higher age while their mental and physical abilities mostly drop and the traffic will become more complex. Original (and still valid) project idea: - 3 concept systems which support (elderly or disabled) drivers. - Besides the technological challenge it is also a human factors challenge. [Source: H. Lupker] 3
Contribution SMEs partners: In Kind contribution in the shape of Hardware and Licenses of SW tools Knowledge transfer of specific applications/tools Take cognisance of the results and evaluate the possibilities voor follow-up Dissemination and expansion of the SMEs group network App. 1: Smart Parking Parking and Navigation App. 2: Smart Vision Monitoring vehicle environment App. 3: Smart Workload Alertness driver Andes V-tron (incl. 5 Challenging assignments for students Internships and thesis assignments Automotive, Electonics, Mechanical, Mechatronics, ICT, Psychology Minorprojects ICT ACE projects Total 28 studenten involved at the project Integration in modules of the specialisation Smart Mobility en ACE Teaching material Knowledge lecturers (partly lectoraat employees) Projectassignments Teaching tools/testvehicles Co-operation Fontys institutes, HAN and TU/e FHICT and FH HRM&P HAN Automotive TU/e Human Technology Interaction / Industrial Design 5
Project is completed according the original plan, both on content as financial. Subprojects: Smart Parking Smart Vision Smart Workload Project enablers: Drivingsimulator Upgrade virtual world with PreScan [TASS] Smart mobility testvoertuig (Carlabs) Prius with lateral and longitudinal control (i.c.w. TNO) Measuringkit Monitor vehicle environment during tests 6

Goals: Signaling free Parkingplace Reservation Parkingplace Indication reservation Adapted navigation to Parkingplace (according usersprofile) Recommandations: Implement and test alternative scenarios Further research on integration Andes SW ready, final version ready, needs work not ready Further development of alternative applications, like parking places for delivery vans, etc.
Smart Vision: rendering the right dead angle inside the vehicle
Showing the traffic in the right dead angleto the driver will make turning right safer. Specially for elderly people and persons with a decreased nekrotation this will give advantages, because they often miss information with this manoeuvre.
Proof of concept realisation in BMW Represent camera-image on the idrive display of BMW Specific hardware
Cameraimage needs to be mirrored horizontallyto get a similar image to the right rear-mirror
Realised system: filmpje System shows traffic in right dead angle on display BMW in line of sight of the driver Possible improvements: 1. reduce startuptime of videosource 2. Enlargen resolution of camera and display 3. Reduce timelag in mirroring camera-image
