AS-IS appeared not to be As Built (240mm difference on the complete plot), this saved high construction costs since pipe bridges and piping would have to be extended in the field. 2. Any additional information required is readily available in the office and no additional traveling is required 3. Laser scanning is much more complete and accurate than measuring by hand. In complex structures (deformed OSBL rack full of piping and cable trays) the scan can be used as design basis for a complete detailed design and no field measurement is required anymore by the steel fabricator.
