STITCHING PORTFOLIOS ~ LIMITED ~ SEE PAGE 7 FOR DETAILS. Here are two suggestions: Left, just in from Erica Michaels, Family Sampler ($18) ~ packaged with 40c silk gauze and charted for the Belle Soie s shown. Isn t it fabulous? I need to finish my Berlin Wool Work Sampler from Needle s Prayse/ Darlene O Steen, but I will have to stitch this one as well! Above, The Language of Love from The Drawn Thread hangs on a display very close to where we have our lunch, and I have admired it for so long, so the other day I pulled the silks for it (a great combination of Dinky Dyes, NPI, and Belle Soie) and found the perfect 40c Lakeside linen and voila! Another project that calls to me.
THE ATTIC! PAGE 2 LINDA S PICK AS SAMPLER OF THE MONTH Above, HSM 1805 ($14) from The Marking Sampler has hung as a shop model for a number of years now. It is a reproduction and, as you can see, it features some fabulous ageless motifs. Left and right, Berlin Wool Work (9 parts ranging between $9.50 - $10 each) from The Needle s Prayse is on my August tofinish list. I m on Part 9, and some of you are patiently waiting for the Part 9 Thread Kits. Despite a week away in August, I hope to finally finish this, begun in 2004! Yikes! THE ATTIC! PAGE 5 NEW FROM HOMESPUN ELEGANCE Left to right, Delivering Treats ($9 w/embellishments) begins a new Delivering Series just in time for Autumn ~ Ferry Farm Cherry Sampler ($11) was designed to commemorate Ferry Farm, the boyhood home of George Washington and his family. Sandra s story behind this design is so interesting: During a 2008 archeological dig, enameled creamware fragments were found dating from 1765 to 1775, dates which coincide with the end of Mrs. Washington s (George s mother) residence at Ferry Farm. Can you believe that shards were found with a cherry motif?! I m sure you remember the legends about George and the cherry tree, so to have found a cherry on a ceramic piece is just perfect. This cherry motif was the inspiration for the cherry at the center of this sampler. The design is based on a typical 18th century sampler style and features the initials of all family members that lived there, the dates of residence, and other motifs of the period. A portion of each sale will go to the George Washington Foundation to further the wonderful research and many activities that will continue at the site. Stitching Joy ($8), the annual Santa ornament, part of the Homespun Elegance s very popular annual ornament series. Fall Festival, a charming new threadpack series from Country Cottage Needleworks, begins in August. Each threadpack containing full skeins of Crescent Colours hand-dyed floss will retail for $14.

And the inside stitching room, aka the great room, is perfect as well. Who are these people? Can it really be 40 years? We will celebrate our 40th anniversary on Sunday... well, actually, the real celebration will be in about 10 days when we travel to Yellowstone, the Grand Tetons, and Jackson Hole and retrace our honeymoon travels with brother Jerry and his wife Nancy, who honeymooned in Yellowstone 43 years ago. None of us have been back since, and so we are really looking forward to a very special time. 40 years ago Morning Glory Pool looked just as it did on my childhood Viewmaster and Old Faithful is really a metaphor for us, I guess. We re old now, still faithful, and I am so grateful. Where did the years go? Wonderful memories of a life well spent with my best friend and soulmate. Happy Anniversary, Sweetheart!
