Choose one of the following options to continue: If you purchased but have not assembled the end frame, stop here, return to the end frame instruction guide, and continue with those instructions. If you did not purchase an end frame for a rollform building but plan to construct an end frame using customer-supplied materials, review these instructions before constructing the end frame to better prepare for the installation of the s included in this PC package. After assembling the end frame, continue with these instructions to attach the corrugated s. ATTENTION: If you purchased an optional door kit, consult those instructions and proceed as instructed. In most instances, the end frame and door frame are constructed before end s are installed. This allows for the placement of s as determined by the position of the door or doors. It is the responsibility of the owner/contractor to adjust the position of the end s based on the end frame and the position of the installed door or doors. Consult the services of a qualified contractor to install the s if needed. IMPORTANT: Some diagrams throughout this manual show the outside edges of the end s installed aligned with the outside edge of the end rafter legs or ground posts. For buildings that include sidewall polycarbonate s and hat channel secured to the frame, shift the position of the end s as needed so these s meet the sidewall s to create a finished corner. See the diagrams in the Quick Start section for sidewall examples. FRAMING: None of the frame members (rafter, ground posts, etc.) supporting the end s are included in the end kit. Only the s and those components needed to attach the end s to an existing frame are included. Fasteners are designed for metal. If your end wall frame requires different fasteners, contact your sales representative to purchase additional fasteners, or purchase the proper fasteners locally. 2

3 Important Information YOU MUST READ THIS DOCUMENT BEFORE YOU BEGIN TO ASSEMBLE THE END PANEL KIT. Thank you for purchasing this ClearSpan Corrugated Polycarbonate Kit. When properly assembled and maintained, this product will provide years of reliable service. These instructions include helpful hints and important information needed to safely assemble and properly maintain the s. Please read these instructions before you begin. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS Wear eye protection. Wear head protection. Use a portable GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) when working with power tools and cords. Do not climb on the shelter or framing during or after construction. Do not occupy the shelter during high winds, tornadoes, or hurricanes. Provide adequate ventilation if the structure is enclosed. Do not store hazardous materials in the shelter. Provide proper ingress and egress to prevent entrapment. WARNING: The individuals assembling this end kit are responsible for designing and furnishing all temporary bracing, shoring and support needed during the assembly process. For safety reasons, those who are not familiar with recognized construction methods and techniques must seek the help of a qualified contractor. NOTE: Many ClearSpan shelters and greenhouses can be designed to meet the snow and wind load requirements in your area. Contact your account manager for additional information if needed. REQUIRED TOOLS The following list identifies the main tools needed to assemble the end kit. Additional tools and supports may be needed depending on the structure, location, and application. Tape measure or measuring device Fine point marker to mark the location on s. Variable speed drill and impact driver (cordless with extra batteries works best) Scissors or utility knife and tool to cut the polycarbonate s Hammers, gloves and eye protection Ladders, work platforms, and other machinery for lifting designed to work safely at the height of the building and end wall. ATTENTION: Consult the services of a qualified, professional contractor if you are not familiar with the construction of similar frame structures. SEALANT APPLICATION (OPTIONAL) The application of sealant is left to the discretion of the owner/contractor. If used during installation, apply a sealant recommended for exterior use and that remains flexible when cured. To create a better seal, apply sealant between adjacent s where the s overlap each another. Sealant is not included with the building and must be supplied by the customer. ATTACHING THE PANELS When setting the s in position, remember to install each with the UV-protected surface facing toward the outside. Read the information printed on each. The diagrams in the Quick Start section show frames with installed sidewall s. View these before attaching the s to determine the best way to align the end s with the sidewall s if your building is equipped with sidewall s. 3

4 Important Information ASSEMBLY PROCEDURE Following the instructions as presented will help ensure the proper installation of the end s. The steps outlining the assembly process are as follows: Verify that all parts are included in the shipment. Notify Customer Service for questions or concerns. Read these instructions, the Must Read document, and all additional documentation included with the shipment before you begin. Gather the tools, bracing, ladders (and lifts), and assistance needed to install the end s. 4. Check the weather before you install the s. Do not install s on a windy or stormy day or when such conditions are expected Install the s. Read the care and maintenance information at the end of these instructions. Complete and return all warranty information as instructed (if equipped). UNPACK AND IDENTIFY PARTS The following steps will ensure that you have all the necessary parts before you begin Unpack the contents of the shipment and place where you can easily inventory the parts. Refer to the Bill of Materials/Spec Sheets. Verify that all parts listed on the Bill of Materials/Spec Sheets are present. If anything is missing or you have questions, consult the parts guide on the next page and all shelter diagrams for clarification, or contact customer service. PARTS IDENTIFICATION The following graphics and photos will help you identify the different parts. (Some parts are not shown.) 5 End Installation END PANEL INSTALLATION The steps that follow describe one way to complete the end installation. The materials and parts needed to assemble the end s include: Corrugated polycarbonate s: check diagrams for size and positions. Tek screws (#FA4482B) and neo-bonded washers (#102921B) Read the following information before starting: Tek screws and neo-bonded washers are used to secure s to end frame. During preparation, rest the edges of the s on cardboard or other material to protect them from dirt and damage. Consult the polycarbonate s (Quick Start section) for the location and lengths of each. The diagrams are located at the back of these instructions. Diagrams throughout this procedure show installing the s flush with the outer edge of the ground posts or rafter legs. If sidewall s are present, adjust the position as needed to connect with the sidewall to create a finished corner. ATTENTION: s must be positioned as shown on the diagrams. Using a in the incorrect place can affect the placement of subsequent s. Install all accessories (fans, vents, heaters, etc.) after installing all polycarbonate sheets. If a door accessory was purchased, install the door before attaching the end s. Adjust the position as needed to accommodate the door installation. Consult the door installation manual (if present) for additional details. Complete the following steps to install the end s Set the first lower in place as shown with the edge aligned with the outside edge of the end rafter and the bottom edge flush against the ground. Do not attach at this time. Trace and remove excess. Actual end frame may differ from frame shown; end installation is the same. Consult the diagrams located in the Quick Start section for your end kit. Trace along the end cap on the end rafter to mark the. End cap attached to top of end rafter. Brace in correct position and mark a line on the along the end cap attached to the top of the end rafter. Remove and cut to fit. Shift s as needed to create a finished corner joint where end s meet sidewall s (if equipped). See Quick Start section for example. END CAP Position top of s between rafter and lip of the end cap. Typical End Rafter Position 35' Wide Frame is shown. GROUN Consult the polycarbonate s diagrams located in the Quick Start section, select one, begin at the edge of the end frame, and work toward the opposite edge of the end frame. NOTE: Set end s in a position that prepares for the installation of the sidewall s if equipped. This may include shifting the outside s beyond the end rafter leg/ground post so corner s align with each other. Install all UV-protected surfaces to the outside toward the sun. See information printed on the Remove, cut along trace line, and set back into position by tucking the top edge under the end cap. Do not damage any section cut from a main ; these may be used in another position. Verify that the is flush with the ground and in the desired position. See the Quick Start diagrams to view frames with sidewall s. Attach to the end frame. 5

6 End Installation END PANEL INSTALLATION (continued) 5. Secure the to the end frame brace using Tek screws and neo-bonded washers spaced every 6" (see drawing A) in the valleys. Do not install Tek screws in the valley where the next overlaps the first. See diagram B. 6. Select another and brace it in place, overlapping the first lower by one (1) rib as shown in drawing B. Do not attach at this time. 7. Holding the in place, repeat steps 2 through 5 to mark, trim, and attach to the end frame. DO NOT attach the top edge of the lower to the end wall brace at this time. See dashed line in diagram below. A Corrugated B TOP VIEW Brace Valley Install screws here. TOP VIEW Brace Corrugated NOTE: Leave the innermost valley open for the installation of the next ; s overlap by one (1) rib. See diagram below for brace positions. No Tek screw in this valley. Rib No Tek screw in this valley. 8. Continue attaching s in this fashion until the bottom row of end s is installed. Overlap and cut the final to fit as needed. Remember to account for the installation of the sidewall s if equipped. Position and cut final as needed to create a finished corner. Diagrams in the Quick Start section show a frame with sidewall s installed. Actual end frame and s may differ from the 35' wide frame shown below. Consult the diagrams located in the Quick Start section for your end kit. Trim excess s Do not attach lower s to the end wall brace at this time. Tek screws are installed after the upper s are cut and set into place. Upper s overlap lower s. Typical overlap is 6". Overlap and trim this as needed. Remember to position the so it meets the sidewall s if present. See the frame diagrams in the Quick Start section for sidewall position. Brace B A 6

7 End Installation END PANEL INSTALLATION (continued) 9. With the lower s installed, repeat the steps as needed to measure, cut, and attach the first upper. Consult the Polycarbonate s diagram for your end kit to determine which to cut and position. NOTE: All upper s should extend approximately 6" below the brace where the upper and lower s meet. See diagrams for details. 10. Hold the first pre-cut in place and trace along the end rafter to mark where to cut the so it fits under the end cap. See the end cap diagram that follows Step Remove, cut along traced line, and set back into position by tucking the top edge under the end cap. The bottom edge of the upper overlaps the top edge of the lower. 12. Verify that the is in the desired position (UVprotected side toward the sun) and attach it to the end frame using Tek screws and washers. 13. Repeat the steps for the remaining upper s. Verify and position by consulting the diagrams in the Quick Start section for your end kit. 14. Continue by reading the care and maintenance section that follows. 8 Shelter Care and Maintenance SHELTER CARE AND MAINTENANCE Proper care and maintenance of the end s is important. Check the following items periodically to properly maintain the end kit: Regularly check the polycarbonate s to see that these are secure and in good condition. Replace damaged s if needed. Check connections and all fasteners to verify that they remain tight. Do not climb or stand on the shelter at anytime. Inspect the anchoring system to verify that all components remain tight and in good condition. Remove debris and objects that can accumulate on the shelter. Use tools that will not damage the s when removing debris. Do not allow snow to pile up against the end wall and s. Use tools that will not damage the polycarbonate s when removing snow. Check the contents of the shelter to verify that nothing is touching the polycarbonate s that could cause damage. If the shelter is moved, inspect all parts and connections before it is reassembled. Depending on the contents, construction of the shelter, shelter materials, and shelter location, the potential for condensation exists. ClearSpan offers several items that can be used to alleviate a condensation condition. Please contact a ClearSpan representative for additional information.
