Green SPECIAL SUPPLIES 8 X 8 Canvas with 1 ½ sides, 6 X 8 journal, any wood ornament, Scotch Magic Tape, ½ masking tape, scissors, Deco Art Dura Clear Soft Touch Varnish, Deco Art Matte Decoupage, Jo Sonja s Rich Gold, computer paper, dictionary pages, white card stock paper, Black I-denti pen, make-up sponges, ½ stripe stencil if available, Laurie Speltz stencils #BCS266 Fun Flourishes, #BCS284 Primitive Hearts, #BCS-285 Snow Piles, #BCS286 Holiday Borders, assorted preadhesive rhinestones, small gold scrapbook brads, black stamp pad and stamps to your liking

2 BRUSHES I use all Loew-Cornell brushes. Series 7550 ¾ wash brush Series 247 ¾ Maxine Mop Series 7500 #10 Shader Series 7050 # 18/0 Script Liner Series wash brush I also used 4 stencil brushes in this design. To begin, no sealing is necessary on the canvas piece and start by taping off a 2 border on the right side of the canvas. Tape off with Scotch Magic Tape and run your fingernail over the edge where the paint will touch. Basecoat with Soft Sage and let it dry. WASIBI GREEN - Using a ½ strip stencil or one of the methods shown in the video, mark off the stripes and stencil with the paint SNOW WHITE using the Fun Flourishes stencil, detail over the stripes on the right side of the canvas SOFT BLUE + WHISPERING TURQUOISE - tape over the green section with Scotch Magic Tape and begin base coating the center of the left side with Soft Blue and then add Whispering Turquoise as you blend to the outside edges. Mop to get rid of any brush strokes. Let Dry SALEM BLUE BEFORE REMOVING THE TAPE, float along the taped edge on the blue section first. Now round off all the corners and then flip the brush over and float along the top edge of the canvas on the three sides and set aside to dry PAPER ELEMENTS Make 2 copies of the canvas poinsettia pattern. One to keep and one to cut out. As shown in the video, cut out the poinsettia around all the petals leaving the negative spaces in the center and the first stem piece right under the flower. You will need to cut out the second larger negative space under the side stem as shown on video. Also transfer the heart and poinsettia center petals onto a piece of dictionary paper and cut out. Place petals on the saved Poinsettia pattern so they don t get turned upside down. Set aside. Place cut out Poinsettia and two dictionary hearts on the canvas and determine their placement and mark with a pencil. Remove the pieces and paint a generous amount of Deco Art Decoupage on the canvas and also on the back side of the largest heart. Lay in place and paint over the heart again with a second coat of Decoupage. Repeat this method with the smaller heart and then the large Poinsettia. Be careful with the stem as you work it over the side of the canvas and then cut the left side of the side stem to fall under the petal if need be as shown in the video. Let dry. 2

3 SALEM BLUE at this point, add random snowflakes in the background behind the poinsettia BASE COAT THE POINSETTIA PETALS SPICE PINK + ANTIQUE ROSE - brush mix these colors randomly and add a bit of water to each mix and base coat in the background petals using numbered chart base #1, 2, 4, 5 & 6 SPICE PINK + BUBBLEGUM PINK brush mix these colors in the same manner as the background petals and base coat #7,8,3,9,10 & 11 ANTIQUE ROSE + DEEP BURGUNDY Transfer the center veins on each petal. Side load a ¾ flat with Antique Rose and then touch into Deep Burgundy to make the float a little darker. Shade on the right side of every dark petal, turning the piece in a clockwise direction as you go. This color is on petal #1,2,4,5,& 6 ANTIQUE ROSE shade the right side of all the front petals #7,8,3,9,10 &11 COUNTRY RED + ANTIQUE ROSE using the #18/0 liner brush, mix the two colors together, more Country Red then Antique Rose, and thin to a liner consistency. Begin painting all the side veins on every petal. COUNTRY RED now float on the background petals to separate them from the front petals. This color will go on petals #1,2,4,5 & 6 ANTIQUE ROSE transfer the smallest heart onto the canvas and base coat. If you have the Primitive Hearts stencil you can just stencil in the color on the canvas SPICE PINK float the top of the heart on both sides to highlight this area DEEP BURGUNDY float the bottom of the heart with a flip-float Using the Decoupage and the #10 flat, attach the center Poinsettia petals in the same manner as the hearts and main flower. Let Dry. Using the Holiday Borders stencil, add the pine needles between the green and blue sections with a stamp pad and a make-up sponge. You could also use black paint for this if you don t have a stamp pad. SPICE PINK dot the random holly berries along the pine needles and let them dry. Cut out the lettering from the card stock and attach the pieces to the canvas with the decoupage as described previously. 3

4 INKING THE PIECE Using the small end of the I-denti Pen, draw around all the elements with a double outline. Use the pattern or photo as your guide. Use the stamp pad and any stamp you have to decorate the lower right corner. I purchased my DEC 25 stamp at Michaels. Attach as many rhinestones as you like to the Poinsettia center. If you purchase ones that do not already have the adhesive, simple use tacky glue to attach them. At this point, paint the entire canvas with a good coat of Decoupage. Let it dry thoroughly and finish with one or two coats of the Dura Clear Soft Touch Varnish. ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE JOURNAL All instructions for the Poinsettia are the same. The bottom border is still 2 wide and the back side of the journal is base coated with Soft Sage and striped vertically with the Wasabi Green stripes. SNOW WHITE I used the holly swirl border off the Holiday Borders stencil to detail over the green stripes. The holly leaves are cut out of dictionary paper in the same manner as the center Poinsettia petals and attached with the decoupage. ANTIQUE ROSE dot the holly berries between the holly leaves and dot again to highlight when they are dry with Spice Pink The background snowflakes are still stenciled with Salem Blue and the PEACE stamp is placed on with a black stamp pad. ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE ORNAMENT LAMP BLACK base the ornament, front and back JO SONJA S RICH GOLD use a small sea sponge to detail the background of the ornament. Wet the sponge and squeeze out the excess water until the sponge is just damp. Tap into the Rich Gold on your palette, pat to remove excess paint, and then tap the paint unto the ornament. You can stencil on the swirls if you have them, or simply use a liner brush and paint them in. Use a flat brush to paint all around the edge of the ornament, front and back side. The JOY on the back of the ornament was stamped on. Spread the Rich Gold thinly on your palette, dip the stamp into the paint and then transfer carefully to the back of the ornament. Remove paint or ink from your stamps with Baby Wipes or rubbing alcohol. Cut out and attach the Poinsettia in the same manner as the canvas and journal. 4

5 To attach a beaded hanger, cut a piece of beading string 12 long. String on 8 seed beads then thread your needle through the hole in the ornament and add 8 more seed beads. Now run your needle put through the first bead of the first 8 seed beads to create a circle. Proceed adding more seed beads or whatever beads you have and when you are happy with the length of the hanger, run the needle through the top of the circle you made first with the seed beads and make to tight knots in the string and run the end through a few more beads and cut off.
