1 Dinosaurs PLAY SPACES Caveman s cave - make a dark place with fabric or bin bags and cover the floor with dark material. Introduce fake fur material for clothes, fact books about cavemen and dinosaurs, prehistoric pictures. Activities Games Catch a Creature Spread a plastic sheet or newspapers over a table, floor or somewhere outside. Fill a deep-water tray with water and add food colouring. Add your selection of dinosaurs, snakes or other creatures. Distribute fishing nets and see how quickly you can catch the creatures and put them in a bucket. YOU COULD ALWAYS ADD GELATIN TO THE WATER, ADD THE CREATURES AND LEAVE OVER NIGHT TO SET. Decorate as you wish. 2. Fold it forward in two along line A. Do not fold the crest on the head. 3. Fold the wings back on line B and on line C bend the claws forward. 4. Tweak the head until it is looking forward. 5. Hook the claws over the rim of a beaker. Fun Foods Dino Shakes Put 2 ripe bananas or similar amount of another fruit in a liquidiser with 1 pint of milk. Blend for about a minute and pour into beakers.

Cut 2 polystyrene eggs in half for the hands and feet. 2. Bend a pipe cleaner in half, twist at fold and push twisted end into the base of an egg and push the other 2 ends into the feet. 3. Cut a second pipe cleaner in half and attach the hands to each side of the upper body. 4. Cut ears from funky foam or card and attach using glue. 5. Using cotton wool make a tail for the rabbit and attach using glue. 6. Draw on the rabbit s face. Prepare a salad. Try the different types of lettuce. Include a selection of dips with sliced carrots and celery to dip. Finish off with a slice of carrot cake or fruit.

Craft A Boot egg cup What you need Clay or model magic Newspaper Paints Paintbrushes PVA glue Egg Other craft ideas Painted eggs Decorate hard-boiled eggs. 1. Using a fist sized lump of clay roll it into a short plump sausage shape, which is thicker at one end. Make a hole in this end using your thumb. 2. Check it s the right size using the egg. 3. Smooth and mould the rest of the clay to form a boot. 4. Roll a thin sausage of clay and loop it into a bow. Press it onto the boot to look like a lace. 5. Leave to dry and paint with PVA glue.

Using the fondant-icing make a base for the egg to stand on. 2. Place the base and egg in a cake case. You now have the chicks feet and body. 3. To create the tail feathers, cut a rectangular piece of rice paper and fringe one end. 4. Use the writing icing to stick the tail to the body. 5. Cut a diamond out for the beak fold in half and stick to the body. Draw on the eyes and wings. Your notes and ideas

7 St George s Day PLAY SPACES A castle paint the inside of a castle on fabric (mix PVA glue in with paint to prevent it from flaking) and drape around the play space. Include appropriate costumes such as Kings and Queens, Knights and Maidens, fact books about castles and pictures of local castles. Activities Games Castle Catch Played like normal catch, but when a player is caught they have to link to form a chain until everyone is caught. Fun Foods Create a Medieval Banquet You could have a salad with chicken drumsticks, bread rolls, pork pies, cheese and fruit accompanied by red wine (black currant juice). Craft Glass painted dragons What you will need Contour lining paste for glass painting Plastic wallet or acetate Glass paints Paintbrushes White spirit (adult use only) Paper Pencils 1. Draw a simple dragon design on a piece of paper. See Template Number Place the acetate over the paper and trace the design using the lining paste. Leave to dry. 3. When dry, paint between the lines using the glass paints. 4. Try glass painting mirrors or CD cases as well.
