1 Premier July 2011 Take me to the Premier members area
2 Welcome to the July 2011 Digital Scrapper Premier! Sometimes I m amazed at technology. Recently I got a call from Charlie, who told me to check Facebook. He said our son, Caleb, had just posted something. I knew Caleb was on a solo hike, so I thought he might be posting some scenery photos via his iphone. When I looked at his post, it said See my location, and there was indeed a photo thumbnail, but the photo didn t look like anything I had seen before, and it had the word SPOT on it. I clicked on the thumbnail, which took me to the SPOT website where I stared at a photo of a map for what seemed like a long time before it slowly dawned on me this was a topographical map. It showed Mt Hood (a snow peaked mountain near Portland, Oregon) and it showed Caleb s location at the TOP of Mt. Hood. Dang, if he hadn t climbed to the top of Mt. Hood all by himself! (It s a good thing I didn t know about it before hand.) The Spot locator device Caleb carries on his hikes allowed us to see his exact location. Like I said, sometimes I m amazed at technology! I took a screen shot of that image, and I intend to scrapbook it. My son, the one who was too terrified to go on Space Mountain at Disneyland... climbing solo to the top of Mt. Hood. I m sure you have your own stories to tell this month, and we d like to help you tell them in style! QuickAlbum this month features Charlie s and my wedding anniversary photos. (I love how the book turned out thank you, Carol Gilmour!) This kit, however, has a lot of potential for other occasions, and, being blue, gray, and cream, will be great to scrap layouts of the men in your lives as well! July Videos We also have a fabulous lineup of video tutorials for you! Jan Walker teaches a trick for adding a magical rainbow to your photo. (Who knew it was so easy?) Jen White has two cool videos. In one she ll show you how to create a 3D window photo frame (very cute!) and in the other she ll teach you an awesome technique for creating crafty tissue paper! To finish up our stellar lineup of video tutorials, Susie Roberts takes some inspiration from her years of publishing craft sewing books, and shows you how to create a darling patchwork heart! So enjoy the goodies in this month s Premier, and I hope to see your fine pages in the July Premier Gallery! Love and scrapbooking success, To start with, we have a great kit by Kristin Cronin-Barrow that was especially crafted for elegant occasions. In fact, the
3 Top Picks Jubilee Premier Kit - June 2011 Our gallery last month was filled with beautiful cards, top-notch layouts and gorgeous artwork as Premier members applied their new digital scrapbooking skills! Our Top Pick among all these great digital works is by Anna, who used our fun Jubilee Premier kit to scrapbook her husband s birthday. The layout focuses on a well-composed group photo and includes perfectly clustered elements and plenty of picture and page frames that really drew my eye to the photograph. This layout just makes me smile! Great job, Anna. Thanks for sharing your husband s birthday with us! Be sure to check out more great pages below Top Pick Layout by Anna I seriously love this month s Premier kit! What a perfect one to scrap my husband s 2011 birthday! Journaling - The championship basketball game was held on Brett s birthday at Murray Boys and Girls Club. Garrett s team defeated Michael Miller s team and took the trophy this year. You refereed the final game and you were so excited when your boys won. What a great way to spend your birthday! Font - SS Play JobaScraps msrobin munser Congratulations to the other top picks, pictured here in alphabetical order. 5 Getting to know our designer... Kristin Cronin-Barrow I am so honored to be part of Digital Scrapper Premier once again! My name is Kristin Cronin-Barrow and I live in south eastern BC, Canada! I live in a really small town in the heart of the mountains and couldn t be happier here. I ve been married to my husband for nine years and together we have two children. I started digital scrapbooking in April 2003 when my oldest was three months old. I was first introduced to Photoshop back in college when I was in a program of visual arts. I was hooked! I worked at a print shop after college for a few years before I had children. When I was on maternity leave and discovered digital scrapbooking, I was so excited to combine my two loves! Click here to find more beautiful kits by Kristin, available at Sweet Shoppe Designs, and read more about Kristin on her blog here.
