1 Graduation Cards and Treats Designed By: Yapha Mason April 2014 Get ready for graduation season with your choice of gift card holder, money (or check) holder, and fun fold graduation cap card. Includes two graduation themed treat holders as well. Instructions (Note: I used Red and Navy, because those are my school colors. Please change the colors to match the school of the graduate for a truly personalized card.) Step 1 First start with the long, narrow card that is just perfect for holding either a check or cash. Take a 9-1/4 x 7 piece of Real Red card stock and score the long side at 3-1/2 and 7.

2 Step 1 Step 2 Take the side with the narrowest of the three sections (shown on the right in the above picture) and place it in your envelope punch board so that the left side is lined up with the 3-1/2 mark. Punch as shown below. Trim off the card stock to the right of the punched out V. Step 2a Step 2b Step 2c Step 3 Flip over the piece of card stock and place a piece of Sticky Strip on each side of the bottom section, as shown below. Fold up that piece to create the money holder portion of the card. Step 3a Step 3b

3 Step 4 Now to decorate the front of the card. Take your 3 by 6-1/2 piece of Real Red polka dot Designer Series Paper (DSP) and mat it with a 3-1/4 x 6-3/4 piece of Night of Navy card stock. Attach these to the front of your card. Step 4 Step 5 Stamp the scallop ribbon stamp from the Blue Ribbon stamp set in Night of Navy ink on one of your pieces of Whisper White card stock. To punch this out without losing the ribbons, cut along the outside of each of the ribbons, as shown below. Next, hold the 2-3/8 Scallop Circle punch upside down and carefully place this piece inside, threading those ribbons through the middle of the hole so they will not be cut off. Position your stamped piece so that the scallops match up to the punch, and punch it out. Step 5a Step 5b Step 5c Step 6 Using Real Red ink, stamp the Congrats Grad stamp in the middle of the circle and the Congratulations stamp in the tails of the ribbon. Trim around the rest of the ribbon, so this piece is completely cut out. Set aside.

4 Step 6 Step 7 Cut out the numbers 2014 using scraps of Night of Navy card stock and the Typeset Alphabet Bigz Die. Step 7a Step 7b Step 8 Adhere both the stamped ribbon and the numbers to the front of the card as shown below to finish it up.

5 Step 8 Step 9 Since this finished card measures 3 x 7 will we need to make a custom envelope for it. Take your 8-5/8 x 8-5/8 square of Real Red polka dot DSP and place it at the 3 mark on the Envelope Punch Board to start. Punch and score all four sides, lining up the score line with the guide each time. Because this is such a long and narrow envelope, we will need to trim off the corners of the wider sides. Mark an inch up on each of these corners, and trim it off as shown below. Step 9a Step 9b Step 9c Step 10 Fold the bottom three sides of your envelope and glue together. The card will fit nicely inside. Step 10a Step 10b

6 Step 11 Next up is the gift card holder, often referred to as a twisted gifted card holder. In order to find the correct angle for scoring your 4-1/4 x 11 piece of Real Red, take your stylus straight down the 6 inch groove to the bottom of your Simply Scored Board before you put the card stock down. Hold your stylus in that groove as a marker. Now line up the top right hand corner with the 6 mark, and the bottom left hand corner with the stylus, as shown below. Hold this piece in place and score down that 6 groove. Step 11 Step 12 Fold along the score line, and put the flat side up against the top of your Simply Scored. Use the same trick as in step 1 to line up the center point where the halves cross with the 6 score line. Score in the middle as shown below. Fold and set aside. Step 12a Step 12b Step 13 Next we need to cut the piece of DSP in the same way that we scored the card stock. Whichever design is face up will be the bigger piece on your card. Line up the paper on your paper cutter so the blade will cut from the top right to the bottom left. Now fold the pieces the same way you folded the scored card stock, and cut it in half at the center point.

7 Step 13a Step 13b Step 13c Step 14 Unfold your scored piece of Real Red card stock and glue the two larger pieces of DSP to their spots as shown below. Next flip the card stock over and glue the two triangles of DSP to their spots. Step 14a Step 14b Step 15 On one of your pieces of Whisper White, stamp the scallop circle from the Blue Ribbon stamp set in Night of Navy ink. Use your 2-3/8 Scallop Circle punch to punch this out. (We do not want the tails this time, so just punch right through them.) In the center of this, stamp the Congrats Grad stamp in Real Red ink. Use your 2-1/2 Circle punch to punch out a circle from Real Red card stock. Glue the scallop circle on top of this as shown below. Step 15 Step 16 Refold the base of your card as you did in Step 12 and glue this circle to the front. By attaching it over the folded parts, it will hold the card together, while still allowing a pocket on the inside. This will fit in a regular medium envelope.

8 Step 16a Step 16b Step 17 If you do not want to give the graduate either money or a gift card, the next card will be just right. Take your 4-1/4 x 9-3/4 piece of Night of Navy card stock and score it on the long side at 5-1/2. Step 17 Step 18 Next you will need the Simply Scored Diagonal Plate. Place this on top of your Simply Scored Board, making sure that the arrow on the back is pointing towards the top. With the smaller section of your card stock at the top, score diagonally from the 2-1/8 mark to the right. Flip the card stock over and repeat. Step 18a Step 18b

9 Step 19 Turn this piece 90 degrees counter clockwise, so the arrow you just made is pointing to the left. Again, score from the 2-1/8 mark down and to the right, crossing the very first score mark that you made. Flip the card over, with the arrow still pointing to the left, and repeat the scoring on the other side. Step 19a Step 19b Step 20 Using the score lines as your guides, trim off the top two corners, so that you are left with a point. Fold along the remaining score lines as shown below. Step 20a Step 20b Step 20c Step 21 Now to make the insert. Take your 4 x 5-1/4 piece of Whisper White card stock and score the short side diagonally from 2 mark. Flip over and repeat, to create the point at the top. Use your paper cutter to trim along these score lines. Stamp Congratulations from the Sassy Salutations stamp set in Real Red ink at the bottom of the piece. Glue this on the Night of Navy card stock as shown below.

10 Step 21a Step 21b Step 22 To create the tassel on top, fold the 8 piece of Real Red ¼ stitched grosgrain ribbon in half and loop into a knot. Carefully trim the edge of one of the pieces from the bottom up to the knot. This will allow you to gently separate the strands that make up the ribbon. Continue doing this until you reach the other side, as shown below. Snip off the piece that is left, and repeat with the other piece ribbon. If you do not like the white in there, feel free to cut it off. Step 22a Step 22b Step 22c Step 23 Place the knot of the tassel in the center of the top part of the card. Take your Paper-Piercing Tool and pierce through the ribbon and the card. Secure ribbon down with a Gold Glimmer brad. Glue a 2-3/4 x 2-3/4 piece of Real Red card stock to the inside top of the card to hide the brad s prongs.

11 Step 23a Step 23b Step 23c Step 24 Next up is a quick and easy graduation treat. You will need Reese s miniature peanut butter cups, or other appropriately shaped candy. To make the tassel for this mini graduation cap. Take 3 4 pieces of Cherry Cobbler Baker s Twine and fold them in half. Take a 2 piece of the same Baker s Twine and tie it around this bundle approximately 1/2 from the top. You can trim the ends if desired. Step 24a Step 24b Step 25 Using your Paper-Piercing Tool, make a hole in the center of a 1-1/2 x 1-1/2 piece of Night of Navy card stock. Take a Candy Dot Brad Base through the loop in the Baker s Twine and the card stock, securing them together. Put a Cherry Cobbler Candy Dot in the center of the brad base. Using Glue Dots, attach this piece to the miniature Reese s Peanut Butter Cup. Step 25a Step 25b Step 26c

12 Step 26 Our final treat will hold three Hershey s Nuggets or similarly shaped candy. Take your 6-1/2 x 2 piece of Night of Navy card stock and punch each of the ends with the Scallop Tag Topper punch. Score the long side at 1-1/8, 2-5/8, 3-5/8, and 5-1/8. Step 26a Step 26b Step 27 Stamp the Congrats Grad stamp in Night of Navy ink on the 1-1/4 x 1-3/4 piece of Whisper White card stock and sponge around the edges with Real Red ink. Attach this to the space just below the decorative edge as shown below. Step 27 Step 28 Take a sheet of Avery 5160 Labels and stamp three of the labels with the A+ stamp from the It s A Wrap Occasions stamp set. Wrap each of these stickers around a Hershey Nugget (or similar wrapped candy). Put Glue Dots on the bottom of each candy and stack them in the middle of your scored Night of Navy card stock as shown below.

13 Step 28a Step 28b Step 28c Step 29 Take a 4-1/2 piece of Real Red 1/8 taffeta ribbon and tie a knot through the top to close the candy holder. Step 29a Step 29b
