4 Event Organizers: Columbus2025, StartUP Columbus and Columbus Sports Council Fort Benning, Home of the MCoE Columbus 2025 represents Greater Columbus Georgia's plan to create a more competitive and prosperous region. The guiding principles of the plan are to increase prosperity, reduce poverty, and improve overall quality of life for a stronger and more vibrant region for decades to come. The Enterprising Culture Action Area is the group responsible for creating StartUP Columbus. StartUP Columbus is the regional StartUP accelerator providing entrepreneurs with support and resources to help them grow innovation-led or opportunitydriven StartUPs. A part of the Columbus 2025 initiative, StartUP Columbus is a partnership between the Greater Columbus Georgia Chamber, Columbus State University and the local makerspace, ColumbusMakesIT. The Founder and Chief Entrepreneurship Officer, Frank Braski, has been organizing robotics tournaments, fieldtrips and STEM education events for over 14 years. Originally developed to support the highly successful 1996 local Summer Olympics Venues, the Columbus Sports Council is a visionary non-profit promoting tourism and commerce through increasingly dynamic sporting events that include competitive robotics, drone racing and electronic sports (esports) and video game tournaments in addition to traditional sports that create a positive economic impact on the greater Columbus region Fort Benning Centennial One Hundred Years of Excellence! 4

StartUP Columbus and ColumbusMakesIT are looking for sponsors to facilitate LEGO Sumo Home School, where an experienced LEGO mentor will help learners with existing LEGO robotics kits to build competition-ready Sumo Bots suitable for competition in the RoboPatriot Games! $300/session (2.5 your location) Build-A-Bot Workshops! $250 / team* In honor of RoboCity and the Ft. Targeted towards 6, 7, 8 & 9 th graders, this workshop includes building, programming and testing 4 AUTONOMOUS, open-source hardware and software sumo robots with 3-D printed parts. 6 RoboPatriot Robot Sumo League Build-a-bot Workshops Who? Teams of up to 4 middle-grade (6 th -9 th grade) youth, plus 2-3 adult mentors. All Schools, Organizations or general public of youth aged years of age with appropriate adult supervision willing to continue to mentor the youth. Adult mentors must be 16 years or older, can be responsible older siblings, family, teachers, parents, or other adult supervision. Sponsored by: Georgia Innovation Center for Manufacturing, Robot Sumo League, ColumbusMakesIT, National Infantry Museum What? 5-hour, instructor led, comprehensive STEM robotics and autonomous systems programming workshop. Participants and their mentor build, program and battle, Made in Georgia, 4 3-D printed, Arduino-based autonomous Sumo Robots that push other robots out of a ring. (Soldering optional) A Sumo Robot League tournament will be held at the end of the workshop for prizes and trophies. Must bring USB and battery operation-capable Windows PC, Mac or Linux laptop (not a Chromebook, ipad or Android Tablet) pre-loaded with the Arduino IDE (You will want to be able to make changes to the robot afterwards) Where? When? National Infantry Museum, Heritage Hall (Upstairs) October 20 th, Saturday, 9:00 am 1:00 pm, part of the RoboPatriot Games at BotOberfest. Why? Engage our youth (and their mentors!) in a fun, competitive STEAM activity. Develop and encourage a passionate pipeline of experienced innovators, tinkers and makers engaged in competitive robotics and autonomous systems at an early age. Further the goal of making Columbus, Ft. Benning and Phenix City an exemplary showcase regional hub for autonomous ingenuity and a Robotic Manufacturing Center of Innovation. Develop the RoboPatriot workforce needed to build RoboCity. (e.g. those smart, robotic warrior kids ) How Much? $ USD per team. A team is two (2) robots; one (1) 36 circular RoboDoyo mat; up to 4 youth- makers and 2-3 mentors (16 years or older) Fifty (50) Teams Available for Saturday. 7 RoboPatriot Build-A-Bot Volunteer Mentor Training + Preparation Who? Mentor Trainers (up to 8) may volunteer (or be nominated) to participate in a 2-hour Train-the-trainer session for free, in exchange for the robot, training and a commitment to run future workshops. Additional Mentor Trainers who wish to obtain the skills without the requirement for subsequent duties can pay to participate at their own cost. This is being sponsored by Columbus Makes IT and Sumo Robot League. What? Instructor-led introduction to the Arduino environment, programming the Robot, possible future modifications and robot upgrades, tournament rules and basic troubleshooting. This will involve pre-setting up the Arduino environment, some light soldering (workshop kits are soldering optional) and some copy and paste programming work and light debugging training. No prior experience required. The reward for Volunteer commitment is recognition at the inaugural RoboPatriot Games, a BotOberfest T-shirt and complimentary access to the Columbus Makes IT Fab Lab at CSU or the CMI MCSD STEAM Lab when available (most likely Q1 2019). Must bring USB and battery operation-capable Windows PC, Mac or Linux laptop (not a Chromebook, ipad or Android Tablet) pre-loaded with the Arduino IDE (You will want to be able to make changes to the robot afterwards) Where? When? Training will be Hybrid, part remote, part on-site. Location TBD. 1-2 weeks before October 20 th, TBD. Why? Increase Mentor / Trainers confidence in subject matter and skills necessary to successfully build and program robot. Build community of experienced mentors to help with other events, sparking or renewing interest in industrial arts. How Much? $ USD per adult with no further commitment required. -- OR -- In exchange for the Robot and training, volunteers must commit to volunteering and help run at least two (2) more similar workshops, expositions or tournaments within one (1) year. One such event being STEAMuL8! in mid-april 2019 Others being school or organizational events TBD by ColumbusMakesIT. Other possibilities include FIRST Robotics Tournaments or Teams in the Fall and Winter.

9 In the NEWS! 300 Save the Date postcards were distributed Denver, Colorado, April 30 May exhibitors, 8,500 attendees from 60 countries The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI), the world's largest nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement of unmanned systems and robotics, represents corporations and professionals from more than 60 countries involved in industry, government and academia. Xponential is their largest annual event. In addition to hinting at Ft. Benning becoming RoboCity, the Deputy Director of the Maneuver Battle Labs Officially announced BotOberFEST at this event. Fort Benning to become the Robotic Centre of the Universe The US Army is establishing a robotics centre of excellence at Fort Benning in Georgia, Edwin Davis, deputy director of the service s Maneuver Battle Lab (MBL), announced at the Xponential 2018 conference in Denver, Colorado. [ I]n October it will host a Botober Fest for industry to showcase new and innovative technologies. The goal is to integrate robotics and autonomous systems into current and future combat teams. The MBL is looking for multidomain unmanned systems that can maneuver on the ground and in the air and water.

Eurosatory is one of the largest international Defense and Security industry trade fairs held every two years in Paris, France Eurosatory had 1,802 exhibitors from 63 countries, 57,056 attendees from 153 countries, and 696 journalists from 94 countries. At Eurosatory 2018, Mr. Sando further elaborated on BotOberFEST s purpose, as covered by National Defense: Army to Host New 'Bot-Tober Fest' Robotics Contest 13 Jun 2018 The [BotOberFEST] which will be held Oct. 20 in Columbus, Georgia is open to any individual, from high-school student to U.S. military officers to international partners, who might have a system or technology that can fill key capability gaps. How can I leverage that talent? [ ] I have plenty of tribal village elders on the team but I need some of those smart robotic warrior kids.
