8 Develop Foundation for Creative Economy & Culture and Foster Creative Talents 01 Maker Education Program across different life cycles Through Maker training programs and lectures for youths, teachers, and adults, we create a social culture in which people can implement ideas by themselves. Online Platform for Makers An online platform where anyone can take part in Maker activities by using and sharing beneficial information, learning, creating, and interacting with one another. Korea Maker Achievement Presentation An event to share the success stories of maker culture, which is continuously growing based on creativity and global interactions of Makers in various fields. College Students Business Start-up Idea Forum Compass Expanding the base for business startup through a forum to share practical information for and successful cases of college students business start-up. Creative Korea Exhibition Sharing achievements and future vision for the creative economy with the public. Development and distribution of PR Contents for Creative Economy Increasing the awareness of creative economy by providing continuous information about outstanding achievements of creative economy. Creative Idea Labs A creative spaces in our surroundings, such as science museums, libraries, and community centers, that assists enhancing people s creativity and imagination by supporting development and realization of their ideas. Managing Exchange Spaces for Creative Economy & Culture Spaces of exchange and communication that provide on/off mentoring and professional consulting services for entrepreneurs to realize their ideas and commercialize their products. Diffusion of Creative Economy & Culture In order to bring a new paradigm of Creative Economy & Culture, we spread maker culture and establish creative spaces and infrastructures to support individuals realizing their creative ideas.
9 Develop Foundation for Creative Economy & Culture and Foster Creative Talents 02 Center for Supporting Free Learning Semester System The free learning semester for middle schools allows students to imagine, experience, and learn directly from our society and surroundings. It is a beginning of a education for happiness that develops their dreams and talents. Base Centers for Creativity Character Education Supporting teachers professional development and networking to vitalize creativity character education nation-wide, and also identify and share outstanding cases, such as classroom environment changes. Creativity Character Education Forum Cultivating mania groups that will lead the school environment through new models of teacher training and practical workshops. Korea s Promising Future Leaders Award Identifying creative individuals with dreams, talents, creativity, passion, and character based on an integral mindset, and supporting them to grow into future leaders. Happy Educational Donation Fair A fair that shares outstanding practices of educational donation to promote nation-wide participation of enterprises, universities, and public institution for purposes of establishing a happy learning environment. Educational Donation Weeks A promotional week for educational donation by designating a monthly theme focusing on major social issues. During the week, many social organizations and professionals take part in educational donation programs for students, teachers, and parents. Cultivation of Creative Human Resources for the Future We propose innovative class models to increase student-centered experience and learning, and implement education for happiness through providing educational environments and programs of quality, as well as educational donation activities to foster creative human resources. Cultivating Leading Teachers of Creativity Character Education Create new models of curriculums in universities for education, in order to cultivate preliminary teachers who will lead creativity character education in schools Crezone A leading website for creativity and character education offering an array of programs and information to encourage creative experiences of teachers and parents. Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Supporting schools in order to cultivate proactive and creative human resources who will lead the development of our society and establish a sustainable nation, and to raise awareness of global citizenship. Educational Donation by college students More than 10,000 college students take part in educational donation by providing a wide variety of creativity and character education programs for elementary, middle school, and high school students. Certification and Award for Outstanding Organizations of Educational Donation Certifying and awarding outstanding enterprises, organizations, college students clubs, and schools who have contributed to the vitalization of educational donation activities.

KOFAC develops various contents to enhance public understanding of science, technology, and ICT. We provide opportunities to experience science in order to spread science culture and nurture people's creativity.

Science & Creativity Annual Conference This Korea s largest academic conference on science and creative culture strengthens global interaction and collaboration, as well as identifies global agenda for the future. Korea Science Culture Award Promoting science culture activities by awarding individuals and organizations who have contributed to the development and popularization of science culture and culture of imagination, challenge, and business startup. An online contents platform that allows anyone to easily utilize and share science and technology contents including various articles, pictures, videos clips and more. An online science newspaper that publishes latest science news and in-depth science articles to enhance science literacy and knowledge of the public. Channel A TV channel reporting trends and various contents of science and technology to enhance public understanding of science by facilitating communication between science and the society. Certification for Good Science Books Excellent science literatures are selected, certified, advertised, and supplied in order to promote publication and reading of science literature. Development of Science, Technology, and ICT Contents Science culture contents that correspond to the latest science & technology ICT trends are developed and supplied to enhance people s scientific knowledge and creativity. Develop Science Culture Contents We develop Science Culture contents to increase peoples creativity and understanding of science and technology through various media to strengthen foundations for creative economy.
12 Diffusion of Creative Science Culture 02 Hands-on Science Class Out-of-school science classes for youths with science lectures, experiments, and creative hands-on activities provided in local community centers nation-wide. Korea Science & Creativity Festival Korea s largest science festival comprised of excellent science culture contents and hands-on programs for the public to observe, experience and interact with science and its communities. Youth Science Club (YSC) and National Youth Science Competition Supporting the Youth Science Clubs and the National Youth Science Competition to promote joint research activities of youths and increase scientific knowledge and interests. Local Science Festival Regional Science and Culture Festivals are held in 14 local government regions (excluding metropolitan regions) in order to standardize opportunities of experiencing science among different regions, and to assist a balanced regional development. Korea Youth Science & Creativity Competition The largest science competition for youths organized by KOFAC. The winners are awarded with an opportunity to take part in the following year s international competition. Christmas Science Concert A theatrical science concert with performances and talk shows held during the Christmas season in order to encourage youths to dream and hope with science. Cultivation of Science Communicators Science communication professionals support professional development of scientists, engineers, and other science culture specialists in enhancing communication between science and the public. Science Makers Battle A competition of various creative activities based on science and ICT is held in order to spread the Maker Culture. Science fiction novels, shortfilms, and other creative works in various fields are supported for the competition. Science contents distribution 22 Science & Creativity 23 We share and disseminate science culture through a variety of platforms and programs where anyone can easily participate in and experience science. Support for Independent Organizations Science Culture Activities To encourage self-directed and creative science culture activities of private sectors, development of science contents and science programs are supported for such independent organizations. Ambassador Program Scientists and engineers provide customized science discussions and lecture programs for children, youths, and adults to increase the public interests in science and help enhance public s science literacy.
13 Part 3 Nurture Scientifically Gifted Human Resources We support and nurture outstanding human resources in science who will lead the future society. Through advanced and systematic science education programs, KOFAC nurtures talented and gifted human resources in science and technology fields. We also develop future talents with mathematics and computing competence.
14 Nurture Scientifically Gifted Human Resources 01 Enhancing Science Education and Nurturing Scientifically Gifted Youths 26 We nurture key human resources Designing new training programs for Enhancing Competence 26 scientifically gifted youth and conducting 27 for science and technology through the establishment of science education standards and STEAM program development. We also train scientifically gifted talents through exchanges among countries. Develop of Science Education Curriculum combining Natural Science and Liberal Arts Enhancing science education curriculum through studies on detailed areas of science to be included in the revised national curriculum combining liberal arts and natural science. Develop Science Education Standards for the Next Generation Developing Korea s next generation science education standards to promote qualitative growth of science education and establishment of continuous and consistent science education policies. Support high schools running intensive science courses Supporting 100 non-science high schools to run intensive science courses and promoting pertinent programs to reinforce math and science education, and to encourage students to pursue further education in areas of science and engineering. Develop and Distribute STEAM Programs Supporting researches to discover and develop effective, applicable STEAM contents for teachers in schools. Develop STEAM Outreach Programs Supporting researches to develop and run STEAM hands-on activities in combination with educational donation where students can experience science and technology. Teacher Training for of Convergent Human Resources Providing customized training programs for STEAM teachers in order to increase their understanding of STEAM curriculum for elementary and middle schools and deliver application expertise. Support STEAM R&E We help students improve creativity and problem-solving abilities by giving self-led study opportunities through STEAM R&E. Support Careers for Science and Technology Human Resources Improving the awareness of natural science and engineering majors and their careers, as well as encouraging outstanding human resources to pursue further studies in these areas by providing career support. Youth Technology Business Start-up Olympiad Promoting entrepreneurship in youths, and providing a place for sharing and competing with their challenging and adventurous start-up ideas of science and technology. Support schools and institutes for gifted students Helping to discover scientifically gifted students in earlier stages and systematically nurture them to improve the nation s future competitiveness. (Science high schools, Schools for the gifted in science, university-affiliated institute for gifted students) International Science Olympiads Interacting to share dreams and visions with scientific talents from around the world, and nurturing the gifted students in science. Support the KAIST Institute for Talented Education policy researches on pending issues and the need for institutional improvements.

Professional Development for Mathematics Teachers Organizing forums and workshops for mathematics teachers to improve their expertise in math education and train them as professional counselors for learning mathematics. Math Popularization Activities Providing a place of communication to raise a nation-wide awareness of the usefulness of math and methods on how to teach their children. Math Education Leading Schools Taking on the role of leading the popularization of mathematics in local communities around school area by providing small workshops and math classes for parents to improve people s mathematics mind. Software Education Leading Schools Providing support for enhancement of fundamental software literacy and establishment of educational environment through these schools aiming to strengthen software education in primary and secondary schools.
