1 11 THE GUIDE POST OCTOBER 2017 Issue 2 1 THE GUIDE POST October 2017 IN THIS ISSUE President s Message by Lauren Wilson, Chapter President October Monthly Meeting Dear San Jose ASHRAE Members and Friends, I can't believe it is already October and that fall is here. A few weeks ago we held our annual September Social at the Mountain Winery. We had perfect weather and were surrounded by our family and friends. Thank you to Trane, RF Macdonald, Silicon Valley Mechanical, and Johnson Controls for sponsoring this event and continued support in ASHRAE. Without them we would not be able to have this event. Unfortunately the wine glasses did not show up in time at the social and we were un able to give them out. I said that we would be able to hand them out at the October technical meeting but we still do not have them in time. If you attended the event, the glasses will be available for pickup at the November technical meeting or we will deliver them to you. There are a few events coming up in October. The first one is our technical meeting on October 11th at the Biltmore Hotel in Santa Clara. Ignacio Varela Chapparo, Doug Ruef, and Kent Penning will be speaking about CO2 refrigeration for supermarkets. These speakers have many years of experience working with CO2 and will show us all of the benefits for incorporating refrigerants into our designs. The October meeting will also be membership promotion night. We will be giving out raffle tickets for new members and giving away future meeting/meal tickets. A complimentary dinner will be given to anyone who signs up for a membership at the meeting. The second event is a volunteer fair on October 19th at Taplands. Come have a beer with our ASHRAE committee chairs and learn how to get involved with San Jose ASHRAE. Please sign up online so we can get an idea of attendance. In November, we will be hosting our 5th annual Clay Shooting event on November 4th at Coyote Valley Sporting Clays. Sponsorships for this event are due on October 13th. Please check our website or contact our event organizer, Justin Libay (justinlibay@yahoo.com) for more details. See you later this month! See you later this month!
