2 The live-ectronics are realized as an Alication (MacOSX C), based on the Max/MS rogramming environment. It's a stand alone alication hich does not require any Max/MS authorization nor any additional external library. The ectronic EVENTS are notated in the score and are triggered by the oist ith a MIDI edal. The EVENT-numbers corresond ith the measure numbers and are thus not chronological. The score contains or each EVENT a brie descrition o the the triggered treatments. The oe ill be amliied ith to microhones. The 2 channs o the ectronics ar routet through the mixer to the 2 loudseakers. The seakeres are also used or the amliication o the oe. The instrumentalist is oerating a MIDI sustain edal to change the EVENTS. One needs a small keyboard to convert the MIDI sustain edal into MIDI messages. The mix o the to microhones is routet through Aux 1 to the inut 1 o the soundcard. list o necessary gear: 2 microhones or oe 2 loudseakers + amliiers comuter Macintosh (G C, 1.6 GHz ith 1 GB internal memory) sound card MIDI interace keyboard or other gear to convert the sustain edal to MIDI mixer ith 2 microhone inuts, 2 line inuts, 1 Aux sends Shore - age 2

3 On the CD-Rom is a older "Shore a". Coy this older to your hard disk and start the alication "Shore". It's a stand alone alication hich does not require any Max/MS authorization nor any additional external library. Shore - age

4 Ater rogram start the olloing stes must be erormed: 1. choose the sound card in DS setu 2. choose the inut channs and outut channs deending on your sound card (channs 1+2 are used by deault). initialize - this loads the buer sounds, ait until the buers are ready (atch the text indo). choose the MIDI ort or the edal, choose it's olarity and test the edal 5. connect the MIDI edal to the EVENTS 6. reind the EVENT list to the beginning o the iece. soundcheck sound check to determine the Aux send levs rom the mixer to the comuter deending on the tyes o microhones, the distance to the seakers and the acoustics o the hall, one might need to eed the microhones through a comressor beore sending the signal to the comuter. choose EVENT 1 the dynamics o the oe should control the intensity o the soundile choose EVENT 150 each note rom the instrument should trigger a soundile REHEARSALS: The actual EVENT number is shon in the uer center o the indo. To um to a certain EVENT during the rehearsal rocess, choose the EVENT number rom the small boxes. The atch ill cut the sound and set all arameters or all treatments to relect the state o the EVENT beore the one to trigger. The choosen EVENT ill be triggered uon the next MIDI edal. This uming method should only be used during rehearsals. ERORMANCE: I the instrumentalist hits the MIDI edal too many times and the ectronics are in advance, the sound engineer should disconnect the MIDI edal connection in the atch until the next EVENT. I the instrumentalist misses a edal, the sound engineer can advance the ectronics by hitting the sace bar o the Macintosh keyboard Shore - age
