1 NOTE!: This installation procedure is for an Ag Leader temperature sensor on a Raven AccuFlow Vortex NH3 system. This procedure should only be used as a guide; your particular installation may be different depending on the NH3 controlling system. SAFETY WARNING!: Before beginning this installation, the anhydrous control system will need to be bled of all excess anhydrous pressure. Refer to the system s operators manual for further instructions. 1. Locate the current analog temperature gauge. It is typically found near the cooler and flow meter (Refer to Figure 1). Flow Meter Figure 1 2. Remove the current temperature gauge, OR locate a secondary location to install temperature sensor. (Having both the digital sensor and analog sensor on the system will aid in the sensor calibration, but is not required.) If the temperature calibration will be done immediately after the sensor is installed, note the current temperature on the guage before removal; this value will be needed later on during the calibration process. *** (Figure 2 indicates where the temperature gauge may also be located)

2 Temperature Sensor Figure 2 3. Install the Ag Leader temperature sensor (PN: Figure 3) and appropriate fittings (Figure 4). The Ag Leader temperature sensor kit does not come with pipe fittings, they will need to be sourced by the installer. Use pipe sealent when installing components. Sensor is installed in Figure 5. 3 Figure 5 4. Connect the extension cable (PN: x) to the sensor and route it to the ISO Liquid Control Module. Locate the Channel cable, and then plug in the corresponding end of the extension cable into the P3 connection. The connections labeled P# are designated for pressure sensor inputs, and P3 is designated for temperature sensing when Anhydrous Ammonia is setup as the ISO Liquid System.

4 Sensor Calibration and Usage When a temperature and main line pressure sensor are installed, the ISO Liquid Module has the capability to perform vapor state monitoring. Both pressure and temperature sensors will need to be calibrated. The temperature sensor calibration is outlined below. 1. Press the Gear icon on the UT screen, and then press the Temperature Sensor button. 2. Define whether the sensor is a Voltage or Current Loop type by pressing the Wrench icon in Figure 6 (Ag Leader s sensor is a Current Loop type). Figure 6 3. Enter the mv/f calibration value of the sensor. If the calibration number of the sensor is unknown, press the Derive Sensor Calibration button. (With the Ag Leader sensor it is advised to use the Derive Sensor Cal procedure) a. Sensor Characteristics for Ag Leader sensor (also located on the sensor body): i. Min Temp = -58 F (-50 C) ii. Max Temp = 302 F (150 C) iii. Min ma = 4 iv. Max ma = Once the values are entered, press the Calculate button (Figure 7). The derived calibration number is now present. Press the forward arrow. 5. Enter the current temperature in degrees Fahrenheit, and then press the Record Set Point. Press the forward arrow. 6. The Calibration is now complete. Press the green check mark to save the new calibration value. Figure 7

5 Once both the pressure sensor and temperature sensors are calibrated, the Map screen and UT pressure gauges now display a RED and GREEN portion on the gauge. These colors are the NH3 state indicators. Universal Terminal Gauge Proprietary Gauge (Ag Leader map screen) GREEN Indicates that the NH3 being applied is in a liquid state. RED Indicates that the NH3 being applied is in a vapor state. In order to determine what the state of the NH3 is in, the ISO liquid module uses both the current system pressure and temperature. Low tank pressure could result in the NH3 being in a vapor state, as well as high ambient temperatures could result in the NH3 being in a vapor state.
