Cut (1) 2" strip for strip set B2. For teal quilt, cut (1) 2½" strips; subcut (8) 2½" squares for border blocks. For red quilt, cut (1) 1½" strip for strip set D. H M: Red Tonal Dot Cut (1) 2" strip for strip set A1. For teal quilt, cut (1) 1½" strip for strip set D. I Q: Teal Tonal Dot Cut (1) 2" strip for strip set B1. J EJ: Stripe Cut (2) 1½" x 40½" strips. 6 For red quilt: 1. Using strip set D segments created for red quilt, sew two segments together; press. Repeat to make (8) units. 2. Sew one unit from step 1 with one (F) 2½" red square. Press toward the red square. Repeat to make (8) units. 3. Sew two units from step 2 together; press. Repeat to make (4) corner blocks. Border #3: Sew a (G) 4½" x 51½" teal star strip to both sides of the quilt center. Press toward the strips. Referring to quilt image for placement, sew a border block (created for teal quilt) to each end of both (G) 4½" x 43½" teal star strip. Press toward the strips. Sew one of these to the top and bottom of the quilt center. Press toward the strips. Border #4: Sew an (E) 1¼" x 59½" black star strip to both sides of the quilt center. Press toward the strips. Sew an (E) 1¼" x 53" black star strip to the top and bottom of the quilt center. Press toward the strips. For red quilt: Border #1: Sew a (J) 1½" x 48½" stripe strip to both sides of the quilt center. Press toward the strips. Sew a (G) 1½" teal star square to both ends of each (J) 1½" x 40½" stripe strip. Press toward the strips. Sew one of these strips to the top and bottom of the quilt center. Press toward the strips. Border #2: Sew an (E) 1" x 50½" black star strip to both sides of the quilt center. Press toward the strips. Sew an (E) 1" x 43½" black star strip to the top and bottom of the quilt center. Press toward the strips. Quilt Assembly: Border #3: Sew a (F) 4½" x 51½" red star strip to both sides of the quilt center. Press toward the strips. Referring to quilt image for placement, sew a border block (created for red quilt) to each end of both (F) 4½" x 43½" red star strip. Press toward the strips. Sew one of these to the top and bottom of the quilt center. Press toward the strips. 1. Refer to quilt image to sew blocks into four rows. Press seams in alternate directions from row to row. 2. Sew rows together; press. For teal quilt: Border #1: Sew a (J) 1½" x 48½" stripe strip to both sides of the quilt center. Press toward the strips. Sew a (H) 1½" red dot square to both ends of each (J) 1½" x 40½" stripe strip. Press toward the strips. Sew one of these strips to the top and bottom of the quilt center. Press toward the strips. Border #2: Sew an (E) 1" x 50½" black star strip to both sides of the quilt center. Press toward the strips. Sew an (E) 1" x 43½" black star strip to the top and bottom of the quilt center. Press toward the strips. Border #4: Sew an (E) 1¼" x 59½" black star strip to both sides of the quilt center. Press toward the strips. Sew an (E) 1¼" x 53" black star strip to the top and bottom of the quilt center. Press toward the strips. Finishing: 1. Prepare backing. Layer backing, batting and quilt top. Quilt as desired. 2. Trim layers even with quilt top. 3. Prepare binding using (J) 2½" stripe strips. Sew to quilt using your preferred method.
