Violet packed flowers VJ Cut 4 strips 6½ x WOF; sub cut 20 squares 6½ x 6½ (4 patch). Cut 12 strips 2¼ x WOF; join the strips together using diagonal seams, sub cut 4 strips 1 ½ x 62 ½ and 4 strips 1 ½ x 50 ½ for Borders #2 and 4. Pink Tonal P Cut 1 strip - 2¼ x WOF, sub cut 16 2¼, for cornerstone blocks. Cut 6 strips - 1½ x WOF; join the strips together using diagonal seams, sub cut 2 strips 1 ½ x 60 ½ and 2 strips 1 ½ x 50 ½ for Border #1. Using an inner flower frame template, cut out 5 inner flower frames. Yellow Tonal S Using a small flower template, cut out 4 small flowers. Using a large flower template, cut out 5 large flowers. Stripe 22084J P Cut 7 strips 4 x WOF; Sub cut 8 rectangles 4 x 2¼ for corner blocks. Join the remainder of the strips together, sub cut 2 strips 4 x 66 and 2 strips 4 x 54 for Border#3. Packed Floral VJ Prepare for backing Sewing Directions: 1. Sew the 6 ½ Black w/pink flowers and Violet packed flowers squares together as shown below. Make 17 paired blocks. Repeat with the Black w/yellow flowers and Pink packed flowers, make 17 paired blocks. Press the seams towards the Black print squares. 2. Sew one of each of the 6 ½ paired blocks together, as shown below. Make sure that all units are correctly rotated. Press the seam towards the Violet packed flowers squares. Repeat to make 6 four-patch units. This will be Unit A. Four will be used for applique blocks. Unit A 3. Sew one of each of the 6 ½ paired blocks together, as shown below. Make sure that all units are correctly rotated. Press the seam towards the Violet packed flowers squares. Repeat to make 3 four-patch units. This will be Unit B. One will be used for applique block. Unit B

Kate s Garden 4. Assemble the appliqué pieces for this block and apply them to the four-patch units as shown below. Make 4 blocks using unit A and 1 block using unit B for a total 8.

Sew 2 Unit B four-patch blocks and 1 unit B appliquéd four-patch block together with the remaining 6 ½ paired blocks. Make sure that all units are correctly rotated. See below; press the seams towards the Violet of 5 appliqué blocks. Make 4 blocks Make 1 blocks 5. Sew the remaining 6 ½ paired blocks together in rows of four pairs each, as shown below. Press the seams towards the Black print squares. Make 2 rows of each packed print squares. Repeat to make a second row. Make 1 row 9. Sew all the rows together as shown below. Sew the Pink Tonal 1 ½ x 60½ strips to the sides of the quilt top, press the seams towards the Pink Tonal strips. combination. 6. Sew 1 Unit A four-patch block and 2 unit A appliquéd four-patch blocks together with 1 each of the 6 ½ paired blocks you made in the previous step. Make sure that all units are correctly rotated. See below; press the seams towards the Violet packed print squares. Repeat to make a second row. Make 2 rows 11. Sew the Pink Tonal 1 ½ x 50½ strips to the top and bottom of the quilt top, press the seams towards the Pink Tonal strips. 12. Sew the Violet packed flower 2 ¼ x 62½ strips to the sides of the quilt top, press the seams towards the Violet packed flowers strips. 13. Sew two Pink tonal 2 ¼ x 2 ¼ squares to both ends of a 2 ¼ x 50 ½ Violet packed flowers strip. Press the seams towards the Violet packed flowers strip. Repeat with the other 2 ¼ x 50 ½ Violet packed flowers strip and two more pink tonal 2 ¼ x 2 ¼ squares. Make 2

4 Kate s Garden border strips total. 14. Sew these strips to the top and bottom of the quilt top. Press the seam towards these border strips. 15. Sew two Pink tonal 2 ¼ x 2 ¼ squares to both ends of one of the remaining 2 ¼ x 62 ½ Violet packed flowers strips. Press the seams towards the Violet packed flowers strip and two more pink tonal 2 ¼ x 2 ¼ squares. Make 2 border strips total. 20. Sew two 2 ¼ x 4 striped rectangles to the ends of the each border strip. Press the seams towards the striped rectangles. See the image below. 21. Sew these border strips to the top and the bottom of the quilt top. Press the seams towards the striped fabric border strip. 16. Sew a 4 x 66 long stripe border strip to the long side of each of the border strips made in the previous step as shown below. Press the seams towards the striped border strip. 17. Sew these border units to the sides of the quilt top and press the seams away from the striped border strip. Top & Bottom view of Quilt Top 22. Sew two Pink tonal 2 ¼ x 2 ¼ squares to both ends of a 2 ¼ x 4 rectangle as shown below. Press the seams towards the striped rectangle. Repeat with the 3 remaining 2 ¼ x 4 striped rectangles and 6 Pink tonal 2 ¼ x 2 ¼ squares. Make a total of 4 units. Side view of quilt top 18. Assemble the appliqué pieces for the flower and apply them to the black print 4 x 4 squares as shown 23. Sew these units to the ends of the two remaining 2 ¼ x 50 ½. 24. Sew these border strips to the top and bottom of the quilt top. Press the seams towards the strip just added. below. 19. Sew 2 of these blocks to the ends of a 4 x 54 striped border strip. Press the seams towards the striped border strip. Repeat with the other 4 x 54 striped border strip. Make a total of 2 border strips. 25. Layer the quilt, quilt as desired and bind using the 2 ½ Black w/pink flowers binding strip.
