1 DEPARTMENT O OPEN CLASS 1. To be eligible to exhibit in this area, a person must be a resident of Perkins County or the Perkins County Trade Area. 2. An exhibitor may only enter one entry per class unless stated otherwise. 3. All exhibits EXCEPT OPEN CLASS FLORAL will be entered Wednesday, JULY 18, 9:00 a.m. 11:00 am. 4. A junior division for youth 18 and younger will be held in each area. The junior division will be judged on the Danish System (everyone receives a ribbon based on quality of exhibit.) 5. Articles will be removed from the exhibit hall no earlier than 7:00 p.m. Saturday, JULY 21. All items must be removed by 9 PM. Items not claimed by 9 PM Saturday will need to be claimed by contacting the Extension Office. 3 FOOD PRESERVATION 2018 BALL FRESH PRESERVING ADULT FOOD PRESERVATION AWARDS: Newell Brands Inc., marketers of Ball and Kerr Fresh Preserving Products is proud to recognize today s fresh preserving (canning) enthusiasts. First and Second Place Awards will be given to individuals judged as the best in designated categories. A panel of judges will select the two best entries in Fruits, Vegetables, Pickles, and Soft Spreads. Entries must be preserved in Ball Jars sealed with Ball Lids and Bands specially designed for home canning, or preserved in Kerr Jars sealed with Kerr Lids and Bands specially designed for home canning. In addition, entries in the soft spread category must be prepared using Ball Pectin: Classic, Low or No-Sugar or Liquid. Proof of pectin purchase in the form of a receipt or product UPC must be submitted with entry. 6 QUILTS & TEXTILE ARTS BEST IN COUNTY QUILTS and BEST IN COUNTY TEXTILE ARTS is a special competition at the Nebraska State Fair. Perkins County may select the best quilt and the best textile arts exhibit at the Perkins County Fair and enter it in this competition. The article must have been judged Best in Quilts or Best in Textile Arts at the county fair. An alternate may also be selected in the event that the winner is not able to participate in the State Fair. Exhibits will be governed by the rules listed in the Nebraska State Fair Entry Book.
