Contact Jackie Burchfield SPONSORED BY: Wal-Mart & Prairie Farms General Rules Entries Must Be Brought to the Coliseum onmonday, Aug. 7, 2017from 3-8:00 p.m. 1. Exhibitors must have been (8) by January 1, 2017 and not have passed 19 on the same date. 2. Cloverbud Exhibits will be accepted from children ages 5-8. These exhibits will not be judged. Complimentary ribbons will be given. 3. All exhibits must have been made by the exhibitor. 4. Fair personnel may reject durably constructed exhibits. These may be disqualified after entry. 5. Label all exhibits with your name and address. (Bring a list. See Entry Page) 6. All exhibits will be judged on merit and receive a blue, red, or white ribbon. 7. An exhibitor is limited to no more than two exhibits under a lot number. 8. The fair management is not responsible for exhibits. Care is taken to protect exhibits. 9. An overall rosette and $5 cash will be awarded to the most outstanding exhibit in the following areas: Agri-Business, Culinary Arts, Entomology, Safety & Health Environmental Shop, Fashion Design, Visual Arts, Needlework, Specialty Needle Craft, Horticulture, and Hobby Craft. 10. All entries will be received at the Coliseum on Monday, August 7, 2017, from 3:00-8:00 p.m. 11. Exhibits will be open to the public from 5:00-9:00 p.m., Wednesday & Thursday, August 9 & 10, and from 2:00-6:00 p.m. on Friday, August 11, Exhibits must be removed between 6:00 and 6:30 p.m. Friday, August 11, If exhibits are not picked up, prize money will not be paid and items will be disposed of. Prizes will be awarded as follows: Blue-$3.00 Red-$2.00 White-$1.00 (Up to $45.00 per child) Class 6: Agri-Business Lot 44 Animal Science: 220. Halter/ Neck or Lead Rope (Must be made by 4-H er) 221. Types of horse shoes mounted on wood. (at least 5 types labeled) 222. Bits Display five (5) or more types of bits exhibited on wood or peg board. Lot 45 Field Crops:

Hay 1 block (labeled) from conventional bale or equivalent wrapped as a package in brown wrapping paper Rice Ten (10) stalks bound together. Lot 46 Plant and Soil Science: 230. Seed Collection- (at least 10 different samples labeled) 231. Soil Texture exhibit (samples of different types of soils mounted on wood background) Class 7: Culinary Arts Kids in the Kitchen Lot 47. Baking 232. Chocolate Chip Cookies (6) 233. Oatmeal Cookies (6) 234. Peanut Butter Cookies (6) 235. Corn Muffins (3) 236. Brownies, (3, no icing) 237. Biscuits (3) 238. Yellow Cake (8, round, no icing) 239. Banana Bread (1 loaf) 240. Unusual Baked Goods Must be standard exhibit of four (4) firm, dry cookies with no filling or frosting. Must be sent on a sturdy paper or foam plate that is slipped into a zipper sealed plastic bag. All cookies must be freshly baked made within 2 days of judging. Must be made from scratch (no mixes or commercial cookie dough) and a recipe should be attached to the underside of the plate. Lot 48. Recipe Box Exhibit will be judged on the content and neatness of the recipe box, not on decorative aspects. Criteria for a recipe box is as follows: 1. A sturdy, strong box (cardboard, metal, wood or 3-ring binder) 2. Dividers to fit the box for each food division (suggestions are beverages, breads, desserts, main dishes, salads, sandwiches, vegetables)- they can be made of heavyweightpaper or can be purchased. 3. Recipes should be printed, typed, or written neatlyon index cards to fit the box. 4. Include only the recipes that you have made and make a check or tally mark in the upper right hand corner each time you prepared eachrecipe. Jams (pints or half-pints) 248. Jelly (pints or half-pints) 249. Miscellaneous All canned exhibits must be canned in standard canning jars with two-piecesealed lids. No paraffin should be used on jellies or jams. Jar lids and bands must be free of rust, andshould not be bent or dented. Outside surface of the jar must be clean andfree of water deposits or stickiness. Recommended canning practices must be used. Head space for most exhibits is 1/2 inch, but this varies with some foods.

Insect Collections will be spread and pinned according to Instructions in the Extension Publication #317, 4-H Introduction to Entomology.
